~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whiteness blinded me as my eyes blinked open and I squinted, adjusting to the explosion of light attacking my senses.
My whole body ached, and when I tried to move my hand I was greeted with a harsh stiffness which pulled my body down into a powerless state.
Eventually, after a lifetime of blinking, my eyes were fully opened and assessing the white tiled ceiling from my position.
As I slowly manoeuvred myself into a sitting position,I realised that I was on a hospital bed in what appeared to be a  luxurious medical room.
But A burning sensation ran down my throat, immediately sending my attention to my dire need for water.
With a raspy voice, I managed to whisper, "water"
But upon inspection, nobody was in the room,just me propped up on a hospital bed with multiple needles and medical paraphernalia sprawled around me.
Then, the door crashed open, Asher blasting in with a bottle of water in his shaky hand, his eyes wide and surveying me with upmost care.
He ran over to me, his hands patting my body checking for any pain.
"Ow" I hissed out in sharp agony, his hands immediately contracting.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry, here" He panted out breathlessly, his eyes trailing over me warily whilst he unscrewed the bottle lid and poured some water down my dry throat.
I hummed in satisfaction as his hand drew away, his fingertips brushing my cheek. The spark that i had missed these past months burned through my veins, and I grabbed his hand, holding his fingers to my cheek, my eyes which were burning with tears lifting to find him in the same state.
We didn't need words to convey our emotions. This man was my mate, my soul mate, my one-true love.
Salty tears streamed down my cheeks in an endless flow as he pulled me towards him, engulfing me in his body.
I easily ignored the pain, I simply inhaled in the scent which I had missed so much, marvelling in all the small, seemingly irrelevant things which made my heart skip a beat.
"I've missed you" I whispered into his neck, so quietly that I was surprised when his hands tightened around my waist and he pulled his head back.
Our breaths were mingling, our faces inches apart. I lowered my forehead to his, closing my eyes and revelling in this spurt of emotion.
"You don't know how hard it-" His voice croaked, "it's been.....unbearable."
I whimpered in reply, my soul calling out to his.
"Please, please promise me you won't leave again"
I looked up at him, at it was then I noticed how broken he truly was.
His eyes were bloodshot and teary, his figure trembling, his hair sticking up in all directions from stress and a blatant lack of sleep.
"You're mine, and I am yours-"I whispered, a small smile tugging on my lips as I moved my fingers to massage the nape of his neck.
"- till death do us part" I finished, my eyes crinkling as overwhelming emotions crashed down on me.
He flashed me an otherworldly smile. The sort of smile that girls dreamed about, the once-in-a-lifetime kind of smile. And my heart sung out in reply.
He caved in toward me, his hot breath fanning my neck and his lips nibbling my ear playfully.
"You're going to pull out all of my tubes" I reminded him, my lips tilting into a laugh.
Just then, the door burst open, a white-clad doctor walking into Asher and mines intimate moment.
Reluctantly, we pulled apart, but he stayed as physically close to me as possible.
"Luna" The middle-aged doctor greeted me with the title that was almost foreign to my ears, "I'm just going to do to do a routine inspection and make sure everything is healthy, but it's looking good so far considering you are conscious."
I nodded along, ignoring Asher's growls when the doctor prodded my skin and lifted my disgusting hospital top to check on my knife wound.
"Oh my god" I cried out when he tore away the dirty bandages in order to apply new ones.
A massive wound stretched across my stomach to my ribs. A scar would most certainly form over time.
"With a wound as critical as this you are lucky to be alive" The doctor looked down as me, seriousness glinting in his eyes.
"I....I know" I agreed, breathlessness attacking me.
Asher rubbed my arm soothingly,
"It makes you even more beautiful"
He whispered, planting a kiss on my earlobe.
I coughed down my retort, looking back down at the ugly monstrosity on my lower torso, but hearing his words had an impact larger than I cared to admit.
"Do you think it will get me extra street cred?" I asked in amusement.
Asher barked out a laugh, his eyes never leaving mine.
"Oh, most certainly.  You're the new gangster in town"
"I hope I'll make a good impression" I joked.
A cough interrupted our conversation, then I realised that the poor Doctor was still stood there, awkwardly twiddling his thumbs.
Me and Asher waited for him to talk, our attention turning to him.
"Everything looks excellent so far, your body is healing quickly which is good to hear. You're stitches on your knife wound are strong, however, for the next week or so you cannot take part in any physical activities. It's vital that you rest your body."
"Okay, thankyou" I offered him a polite smile.
"When can she be discharged?" Asher spoke in his formal, alpha tone which was rather intimidating.
"I'll get the paperwork done and then within the next few hours she should be free to leave. We just need to take some precautions, but considering you're awake and well, I'll be with you again fairly shortly." His kind eyes radiated warmth as he scanned us once more before vacating the room.
I let out a deep breath into Asher's shoulder.
"I'm excited to go home" I mumbled into his tshirt, my voice radiating tiredness.
"Ur.. about that" he shifted and began to fidget In his seat.
"Ash-" I began warningly.
"The house is a bit messier than when you were last here" he pulled at his shirt eagerly, precipitation forming on his brow.
I almost laughed at him from how nervous he looked.
"Right..well I suppose we'll see in a few hours then won't we?"
---------
To say it was a danger zone was an understatement.
As Asher helped me out of the car and into the house, me heavily leaning on him, I was appalled as I was greeted with an absolute bomb site.
Splinters of wood and scraps of material and shards of glass were littered in each room, broken furniture strewn across the floorboards.
But I suppose I understood why it was like this.
Anger and sadness.
While I cried into tubs of ice cream at the beach house,  he let out his emotion by breaking everything in sight.
I squeezed his hand in understanding.
"Rose!!!!" Lola burst through the kitchen door, taking me by compete surprise.
"Me and Laurent were waiting here for you guys to come back from the hospital. We made you a cake! How are you feeling?"
I pulled her into a hug, a bright smile on my face,
"Thank you, both of you. I'm starving let's get some cake" I laughed, pulling Laurent into an emotional embrace as we all sat down at the breakfast bar seeing as the dining table was in pieces on the floor.
We gossiped and chatted until the sun began her descent below the horizon line, casting amber hues into the room.
"Anyway," I began, my cheeks hurting from smiling, "you two both look, well, glowy" I assessed, a grin plastered on my face as realisation dawned on me.
"We completed the mating bond" Lola didn't look at all embarrassed talking about it in front of her brother.
"I'm so happy for you!" I squealed, delight coursing through my veins.
All the while I avoided Asher's piercing gaze.
"Awhhh thank you." Lola looked over at Laurent and all that could be described in their eyes was pure, unrelenting love.
I couldn't help the yawn that escaped my throat from such a long day, and this action didn't go unnoticed by Asher.
"It's been a long day, we'll see you tomorrow at the pack house?" Asher phrased it like a question, however the situation wasn't up for debate.
As we lead them to the front door and said our goodbyes, I slumped into Asher's side, crumbling into him as I became the servant to exhaustion.
"Let's go to bed" He pressed a kiss to my temple and I curled around his body as he lifted us up the stairs.
"Is there even a bed to go to?" I giggled drowsily.
A dark, humoured laugh filtered through his lips.
To my gratefulness, the bedroom was still largely in tact.
"I swear if any of my clothes have been damaged you will never see the light of day again" I warned playfully.
"I don't need sunlight when I have you" he mumbled soppily.
He carefully placed me down on the bed and checked my bandages.
"Doctor Asher" I saluted.
I received a low chuckle in reply as he redressed the wound before pulling my top down once more and flopping on the bed beside me.
I twisted over and curled into his side, sleep attacking my senses.
"Goodnight"I murmured into his chest.
And before I drifted off, I swore that I felt the faintest twinge in my chest where my soul reached out and mingled with Asher's, sending a flurry of love and happiness through my heart.
