Chapter 208
Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem ( Elysia and Tarquin)
Callum remained silent for a moment, sipping his coffee awkwardly to ease the tension before turning âI heard you were looking for Tarquin. If you trust me, you can tell me, and Iâll pass the message alongâ
Elysiaâs lips quivered slightly, but she shook her head in refusal, Bound by a secret marriage and a nonâdisclosure agreement, she couldnât even confide in Blossom, let alone anyone else.
âI need to speak to him in person.â
âWell, you might be disappointed then. He doesnât seem to want to see you lately.â
Elysia frowned, her frustration bubbling over.
âI donât get it. Even if heâs swamped, he could make time to see me! It feels like heâs avoiding me! Iâm not some kind of monster, whatâs so hard about meeting me?â
Callum was just as clueless about Tarquinâs reasons and could only offer a helpless shrug Seeing that Elysia wouldnât divulge her reasons for wanting to see Tarquin, Callum didnât press further, steering the conversation elsewhere.
âDonât be too upset. Tarquin is a hard man to read. When heâs ready to see you, heâll reach out. Just be patient. I came here not just to apologize but also to ask about Winonaâs overseas movie shoot. What did Zane and Blossom tell you?â
The mention of Winona cooled Elysiaâs temper slightly.
âIs there news about Winona?â
Callum frowned lightly and said, âThe news Iâve got might be a bit different from what youâve heard, so I wanted to check in with you.â
Elysia tensed up, recounting to Callum what Zane and Blossom had shared with her.
Callum shared, âWinonaâs agent did indeed hype up a secretive big project, telling everyone to stay tuned for a blockbuster surprise! But word on the street is, sheâs been gallivanting abroad for over a year, with no news of her working on any new film.â
âHow could that be? Could it be that only the actors had to sign NDAs and not the agent? But Zane clearly said he couldnât even reach Winonaâs agent âItâs either Zane lied, or thereâs something up with Winonaâs side. I had my people check, and thereâs no record of Winona leaving the country.â
Dysiaâs heart skipped a beat! She widened her eyes, âAre you sure about this?â
âPositive! Winona hasnât been spotted, and if Iâm not mistaken, she didnât even leave Jindale City.â
âCrash-â
Elysia accidentally shattered her coffee cup, spilling dark coffee all over herself and the floor.
Stunned, she stood up, frozen in place.
Callum quickly asked. âAre you okay?â
The waiter rushed over, assuming her pale face was from the shock of breaking the cup, and reassured, âNo worries, miss. Iâll get you another cup right awayâ
After the waiter cleaned up, Elysia sat back down, her brows furrowed. âIf Winona didnât leave the country, or even Jindale City, why hasnât she contacted anyone? She didnât reach out to Blossom and Zane, not even her parents. Wait, have you tried contacting her agent?â
Callumâs expression grew complicated, âHer agentâs gone off the radar.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âRight after I found out Winona hadnât left the country, I tried reaching her agent. But the calls go unanswered, and thereâs no reply to messages. Even her close relatives and friends canât reach her,â
The waiter brought over a fresh cup of coffee, and Elysia, trembling slightly, took a sip.
The coffee was bitter, but she couldnât taste it, feeling numb.
She had been harboring doubts about Winonaâs disappearance for over a year. Now, those doubts intensified Something might have truly happened to Winonal
