Chapter 43 ~ Max Tells All

Third Person POV ~

Venom and Delaney were in the infirmary.. He wanted her to rest.. but she was too busy healing the wounded..

She bumped.. literally bumped.. into Tom in the corridor.. Realizing he was leaving the morgue.. she asked “How are you holding up?”

He shrugged “I disliked her. I planned on divorcing her.. But, at the end of the day.. she gave me my beautiful girls.. so I could never hate her. It hurts more for my daughters sakes.. than anything else.”

Delaney nodded and told him if he needed anything.. whether for himself.. or his girls.. to not hesitate to ask.. and she went back to her patients.

Maddox had placed a call in to the president.. He was now crossing the second hour of being on hold. Delilah hung the phone up.. and hit redial. When the telecom operator picked up.. asking how to direct the call.. Delilah said “We have been on hold for two hours.. So before that shit happens again.. write this down.. “President Abrams.. This is Warrior Wolves M.C calling.. President MadDog would like a teleconference with you.. within an hour. If we do not hear back from you by that time.. every media outlet in the country will be airing a military attack against a peaceful people.. killing three of our people.. injuring twelve others. Casualties on the side of the military are unknown.. and uncared about!” Now.. do you think the president will receive this message before the hour is up? Clock starts ticking now!” And she hung up.

Hunter laughed “Well.. that’s one way of getting noticed.” Delilah shrugged “That elevator music was killing me.” Maddox chuckled “It had played for so long.. I tuned it out.”

Maddox’s phone rang.. the caller ID showed the White House. What are the odds that it would be identified!? Maddox answered and put it on speaker after saying hello.

President Abrams snarled into the phone “Who is this? And what is this about an attack? I have authorized no such attack! And never on U.S. soil! You better have a good reason for such an accusation.”

Maddox calmly said “Mr. President.. I am Alpha Maddox Quinn.. and President MadDog of Warrior Wolves. If you check your email.. you will find two videos.. depicting synchronized attacks on my compound.. and on my brother’s pack.. denoting interstate involvement.. If you did not authorize these attacks.. Authorize the use of these government assets.. then, who did?! Who is running your government? Because obviously, you’ve been kept out of the loop!”

The line was silent while Abrams watched the videos.. Only the occasional “What the fuck?” was heard.. and Maddox would chuckle. Has to be a crushing blow to that man’s ego.. To watch something like that unfold.. knowing he had no idea this shit was happening under his nose.

Abrams came back on the line “Where does this leave us? Do I need to prepare for retaliation from the wolf nation?” Maddox denies an attack from the wolves “It depends on where this goes from here.. There are things at play that can cost humans their freedom.. at the very least.. their lives will most likely be the ultimate loss.”

Abrams asked “Is it possible to meet with you, in person? I need as much information as possible before I go public with this.. And, rest assured.. I do plan on going public.. Is it possible to speak with this Max Unger? I believe he has some vital light to shed on this situation.”

Maddox agreed.. telling him “It is best if you don’t let anyone but your closest staff know anything. I don’t want to think your life may be on the line with these people.. But I fear that may be where it’s heading.. Assassinate a president.. blame the wolves.”

Abrams agreed.. and told them “It’s ten now.. I can be there by four this afternoon.. Can you arrange a ride from Couer d’Alene? I would rather not call for a car.. We won’t be flying Air Force One.”

Maddox told him we would arrange transportation and advised Abrams to keep his head down.. until they decided how to address the situation.

Venom asked “How are we doing this? Are we picking him up and going to Golden Lake.. or do we transport Max here?” Maddox suggested “We go to Golden Lake.. Can you get Max set up in an interrogation room and have a video monitor in place? I want good old Max to see and hear what their plans are for his treasonous ass.”

Delaney laughed “Yeah.. that’s going to shake him up a bit.. Being interrogated by President Abrams will finish him off!” Maddox said “I hope so! We need resolute and closure.. I would rather not wage a full scale war against the human military, if we can avoid it.”

By the time Maddox and Delilah arrived with President Abrams and his ten man security detail.. Venom had Max chained at a table in the third floor security command office..

When the secret service detail tried to follow Abrams inside… they were stopped at the door. The commander demanded someone had to be there to guard the president and Tom stepped up.. “He’s got me.. and these people here? They aren’t the ones posing a threat.”

Abrams sat down across from Max.. “I expect you to tell me what you know. I don’t know if I will be able to negotiate your release from these people.. but I promise I will try. Now.. start at the beginning..”

Max took a drink of water and began “Eight years ago, I was recruited by the CIA.. several active military personnel were. My assignment was to survey and recon Colonel Richard Slate.. When he was arrested and charged with war crimes.. I thought my assignment was over. I was wrong.

I was reassigned to locate and recovery of weapons of mass destruction that had been stolen from military munitions bases around the country. Captain Tiberius Stone.. errmm.. Venom.. aided in the location of said weaponry.

My orders were to prevent Slate talking.. to anyone.. about anything.. but especially about anything pertaining to Gemini. The order was by any means necessary.. so I did what I did..

Four years ago.. I was given a new assignment.. and I was told if I was caught.. I was an unknown.. My assignment was to infiltrate Bikers organizations and sell them weapons and ammunition.. As time went on.. and as orders often are.. my assignment was modified. I was to locate and recruit an Alpha wolf willing to turn humans into wolves.. I found two.. needing the money.. and willing to put something over on Stone.

One of the biker clubs I was dealing with was aware of a wolf that would be capable of turning a human in under twenty four hours.. so I reached out to my superiors and received financial authorization to acquire this particular wolf.. again.. by any means necessary.

The man who knew about the wolf.. in turn killed the girl’s mother.. then abducted her father.. after his own wife married the guy.. Somehow, they had learned the girl stood to inherit a large sum of money.. So.. the biker and the kidnapper betrayed me.. which I found out later.

The directors of National Security and the CIA are running a covert operation.. calling it Gemini.. and turning humans into wolves.. They started with turning prisoners.. then military personnel with shady histories.. I don’t know how high up this goes.. or who is involved.. I answered to the two I mentioned.. and I am sure they are controlling an entire group of officers.. like me.”

Venom showed him the video of what they had tried to do.. and what was said. He said “They aren’t coming to rescue you, Max. They are coming to make you disappear. I sure hope serving your government, in this way, helps you sleep at night. I once considered you a friend. I believed we fought on the same side. You proved me wrong.. and it has become one of the biggest regrets of my life!”

President Abrams said “I have heard enough.. I am going to expose this entire ring of traitors.. then I am going to clean house.. Please.. on behalf of my office.. on behalf of this great nation.. and on behalf of myself.. I humbly apologize. I regret everything that has been done.. and I assure you.. it stops here!”

After they had made sure the President was in the air on his return flight.. they gathered in the courtyard of the compound to say goodbye to their fallen. The Goddess shown a small beam down on them while calling the souls of her wolves home.

Delilah smiled “I will never tire of watching the souls follow the moonbeam home. It touches my heart, knowing they aren’t really gone.”

Maddox turned her face to him.. wiping a solitary tear from her cheek.. he whispered “I love you so much!” as he kissed her deeply.
