Chapter 39 ~ Meet The Goddess

Third Person POV ~

Selene stood looking into the faces of her guardians. She grinned “Ohh Goody! You dressed up for me!” And shifted her gown into a formal style and asked “When is the party, then?”

Delilah laughed and said “We are dressed like this because we are getting married tonight.. But we can be persuaded to party afterwards..”

The Goddess laughed “Oh My Dubois! The fates have chosen well! A wedding? A wedding, you say? Well.. My first official act of christening the dome.. A wedding! Come.. come children! It’s been too many millennia since I personally joined two of my most blessed wolves.”

Delilah looked at Maddox.. who was in as big of shock as her.. and whispered “Holy fuck! Are we getting married by the Moon Goddess?” And they heard “Language, darling! You’re in a sacred temple now. And of course you’re getting married by the Moon Goddess. Did the fates get it wrong? Is my Dubois addlepated?” Looking at Maddox.. who was struggling holding back his laughter.. He finally grunts out “I don’t know. I don’t know what addlepated means.”

Selene says “Oh Goddess help me. Both my Dubois are addlepated. Bewildered. Confused. Dazed. Dizzy. Dumb?” And Delilah clenches the deal when she asked “When you say “Goddess Help Me” who do you mean?”

Selene’s eyes practically pop out of her face.. then she busts out laughing.. “Oh! You got me! I was getting worried for a minute. Let’s get the family in here and get you married! I’m so excited! What a way to christen the dome!”

Everyone crowded into the temple.. wanting to see the Goddess.. She giggled and spoke to the throng “Let me get my Dubois wed.. Then I will bless all the Dubois kin.”

The entire club gasped and gulped.. Then fell silent.. as Selene recited an old mating ritual and declared them married.. by law.. by decree.. by Goddess design. Maddox kissed Delilah and the Goddess kissed them both.. She smiled “My children.. What you have done for me, this day.. has been the greatest gift of my reign. I bless this pack.. oh.. this club.. with my protection.. You are all gifted longer lives.. strength and endurance. You will now find yourselves immune to silver, verbena and wolfsbane. The time will come when these gifts will be needed. Now.. about that party…”

Delaney stepped forward laughing “I like her. She’s spicy! Can we keep her?” Selene smiled “Ah, Delaney, my child. I am so proud of the way you have mastered your gift.. your healing powers will also increase, now.

Selene walked around the inside of her temple.. talking to people every now and then.. She congratulated Vicki on her baby.. told Valerie that she would be pregnant the same time as Delilah.

She smiled and took Henri’s hands and told him Calypso missed him and was so happy he had someone to love him. Then she said “She did that for you.. She begged me to let you have a second chance.”

Henri smiled…as a tear rolled down his cheek “Yeah. She would. She always was that way!” He introduced Kathy to her and Selene kissed her on the cheek.. and whispered “That was from Calypso.” making Kathy gasp.

She laughed and joked with everyone.. Human or wolf.. She wanted them all to know she saw them as Dubois kin.. and they mattered to her.

Maddox introduced Tom and his family to the Goddess.. giving a brief synopsis of how they ended up with the club.. She reached over and touched his wife on her bad shoulder…. Smiling, she said “You’re healed now.. and Tom.. if you decide you want to be a wolf.. let my Dubois know. I have already had one wolf ask for you to be his vessel. He’s one of my favorites.” She walked away.. leaving a dumbfounded Tom in her wake.

She was standing next to Venom and Delaney.. Delaney asked “Why do you call Delilah your Dubois?”

She laughed “I was wondering when someone was going to ask.. Delilah is my Dubois.. The bloodline was created by me. It’s the most unique in the world. She is the last of that line.. but by extension.. you are all kin. So.. when I refer to my Dubois.. I mean all of you.”

Delilah joined the conversation “This is the first Goddess Dome Temple built in nearly twelve hundred years. Many have tried.. All have failed. The reason that is.. only Dubois blood can open the portal for Selene to cross realms.”

Maddox gasped “That’s why your blood absorbed into the floor.. to open a portal?” Delilah smiled .. nodding “Yes.. But not A portal… THE portal. It can’t be opened up anywhere else in the world.. and can only be used by Selene.”

Maddox asked “Was all this in your mom’s papers?” She nodded and told them “I couldn’t read them.. Gizmo and Axe couldn’t find anything significant.. and it’s because I had to be mated and marked before they made sense.. When Selene summoned us to the window to see her chosen spot.. she told me to read the papers again.”

Selene smiled “See? Unique blood. Whenever a false Dubois built a temple.. as soon as they spilled their blood on the floor.. the temple would collapse in on itself.. killing everyone inside.”

Delaney grinned “Oohh smart cookie! That’s why you told us we had to stay outside for the first part! But what about Maddox? He was inside.”

Delilah laughed “Have you ever told your brother no? I told him what might happen and I wanted him to keep everyone outside. He refused. Wouldn’t let me go in alone.”

Selene said “I wasn’t worried. I knew it was going to work. Now I will be able to help my children when they need me. Well.. one night every month. It requires too much energy to cross realms without the aid of the full moon.”

Delilah laughed “I was worried.. I didn’t want to be crushed under five tons of glass and rock. That would not be cool!”

The moon was approaching the horizon when Selene told everyone she had to go. She looked at Venom and said “They’re coming for Unger.. Two days. They think he’s here but aren’t sure.. Will probably hit you both.” And was gone.

Venom immediately went over to Maddox and told him they need to talk first thing in the morning… and decided everyone would sleep at the compound tonight.

Walking back.. Snake says to Vicki “I didn’t know you are pregnant baby.. Why didn’t you tell me?” She laughs “I’m not..” Delilah laughed then.. “You will be!”

Snake said “What? Wait.. Now? We will be pregnant now?” At Vicki’s nod.. he hoisted her over his shoulder and ran for the clubhouse… Leaving everyone to choke on his dust.
