Chapter 5

Lucas

After a long shower of crying, I throw on some sweats and go downstairs with the hope of not bumping into Nathan.

"Lucas!" Elizabeth meets me at the bottom of the steers with a hug .

" Hey Lizzie!" I sweep her off her feet. Earning a few giggles from her before allowing her to step on the ground .

" I'm going shopping with Lara Jean!" She says, pointing at Mrs. Kevens who's staring at Elizabeth with a smile on her face, probably waiting for her .

" That's nice, have fun!" I hug her one more time then she walks away, waving me bye and promising to buy me something sweet .

Mrs. Kevens glances over me when Elizabeth is not looking, her sour look once again covering her face . I decide to wave her bye too, because I'm used to it . In return, she just looks away . Great!

I enter the kitchen , only to find Summer and her boyfriend Cam jamming to some song and making breakfast. I try to step back and make myself scarce, instead I hit a hard warm body .

I turn around nimbly " I'm so sorry!" I say with my hand over my mouth, immediately regretting coming downstairs .

" Just watch where you are going next time!" Nathan snaps at me, then walks past me  .

" Geez Nathan, no need to be rude! Hey Lucas, come on and join us!" Cam calls out . I badly want to get back to my bedroom and hide until Nathan leaves, but it seems like that is not an option. Looking at the fact that he might be staying here for a while .

" Come on Lucas!" Summer is the one to add, since when does Summer acknowledge my presence? Oh well , that's progress .

I walk towards the kitchen counter, Summer handing me the knife to cut down the tomatoes that's gonna be used for the sandwiches they are making.

" So Lucas- Whoa man, you got laid last night?" Cam literally yells over his lungs in shock .

Everyone's eyes turn to me, even Joshua has the audacity to show up at this worst time of my life . I bashfully look everywhere but at the appalled faces.

" What's going on?" Joshua inquires, taking a seat beside me " Oh those, seriously guys? Never seen a guy with hickeys?" Joshua rolls his eyes at Summer and Cam .

Nathan is silently flipping the eggs, not even interested in our conversation . Good , because it's his fault, it's hard to hide these things , so hard.

" Just...I wasn't expecting something like this from Lucas. He has this innocent look, I don't know." Summer goes back to cracking some eggs with a coy smile.

" Agreed, who's the lucky girl anyways?" Cam leans on the kitchen counter, his eyes boring into mine " Anyone we might know?"

Once again, attention turns to me. Oh God! Make me disappear . I look from the slices of tomatoes to Cam who aids me to say something.

" It was actually a guy ." I run my hand over the nape of my neck , smiling anxiously when they all gasp, even Nathan dropped the spatula in his hand . So he's listening to our conversation? .

" I knew it! You owe me money babe!" Cam says to Summer who looks rather disappointed by the revelation.

" I definitely thought you were straight as a pole Lucas , damn!" Summer exclaims, groaning that she just lost .

" You guys made a bet on that?" Joshua looks between the two , flabbergasted .

" We had to, and it seems like it was worth it!" Cam shrugs, going back to putting jam on the bread . " Lucas doesn't mind, right?

" Nah, not at all." I go back to my given job, and thank God everyone starts talking about something else besides my  life .

A few moments later, after everything is done . I help Joshua with setting up the table.

" Lucas" I glance over Cam " Are you okay?You are plainly hobbling man? " Cam looks over at me and right away, his face goes smug .

" Damn whoever fucked you knew what they were doing!"

" Summer!"

" What? That's true! Cam makes me walk that way sometimes but how would you know? You only go for women!" Summer says to Joshua, who looks embarrassed on my behalf.

" Guys, just drop it ." Nathan motions for everyone to sit down already . I quickly take my seat, blushing like hell.

" Who's the guy, Lucas?" Joshua demands .

" Why do you wanna know? Want him to fuck you too?" Summer bellows, making everyone in the room laugh and Joshua squirm in discomfort .

" No one in particular, it was just a one time thing. Nothing to talk about here!" I say to Joshua, who looks relieved when I tell him that .

" Joshua is jealous" Summer mumbles under her breath. Nathan gives her a 'cut it off' look and immediately, Summer goes back to talking about his high school friends before the topic of me came up .

" Are you okay?" I ask Joshua besides me , talking lowly so he's the only one who can hear me.

" Just a bit hurt that you didn't tell me about last night." Joshua eyes me . " But it's okay, maybe next time ." And I just nod . Understanding where he's coming from .
