Chapter 11

Lucas

I have been on bed rest for a while . The doctor advised me to stay off my feet by all means, only a week or two have passed .  I don't get to go to school more often and Amari has made herself useful by bringing me homework and assignments, even Tyron pinched in on classes we have together.

Nathan has been ignoring me even though it hurts as hell, being rejected by everyone over something I can't control myself sucks , as always. He hardly spends time here. Whenever he's around, he's either with his best friend, Wylder or different guys he probably pick up to fuck. Mrs. Kevens and James also have been ignoring my very existence , and on top of that they are planning on helping me move out , because whatever I have might be contagious . What's contagious about being pregnant? I wonder but arguing will be pointless . Summer, Cam and even Josh tried reasoning with them but they won't listen . The three don't know what's going on exactly but eventually I would have to tell them.

A soft knock comes from the door , snapping me out of my head.

" Come in!" I call out, picking up my books from my bed.

I have been going through my textbooks since this morning, mid terms are going to start soon. Preparing is my only option even though I'm unsure that I would be able to write .

" Hey!" Joshua waves at me with his free hand, the other one has a bowl of potato chips, a special request by me .

" Hi, come on in! Take a seat anywhere while I try to tidy up ."  I motion over my messy bedroom, with a few clothes on the floor .

" Want me to help?" He offers but I refuse, insisting that he has done too much already . Took me a lot of time to finally convince him to sit down and relax .

" So ...are you feeling better yet? I'm just confused why my parents are cooping you up here while you look perfectly fine to me." Josh continues " Elizabeth misses you so much,she never stops talking about you every chance she gets. Even during dinner, you are on her daily topic ."

I sigh heavily, taking a seat on the foot of my unmade bed . " I miss her too but I think it's better this way . She must get used to not seeing me around, I'm moving out anyways ."

" We still have time to convince them that you deserve to stay here Lucas, we can't give up now. I'm sure whatever is going on between you and them can be fixed ."

" It can't." His confused grey eyes snap to my doleful face . " I'm pregnant Joshua. I know it sounds crazy and impossible but I am, it just-"

" Is it Tyron's?" Joshua blunder out, looking at me expectedly . I slowly shake my head no " Then who's the father? " He looks at me sideways with blank stare.

" I don't know." I lie through my teeth, feeling ashamed that it is going to be like this for the rest of my life .

" Is it that guy we were talking about in the kitchen?" Joshua asks  I nod my head yes . " It's okay, you have us . Summer and Cam will surely understand, even Nathan . We can take care of you ."

" Thank you!" I look down at my lap, I feel like a fraud for lying to the only person who has ever been kind to me, but it's for the best .

Out of nowhere, I feel arms around me and instantly I melt in Josh's arms .I didn't know I needed this until now. I place my head over his shoulder and hug him back around his waist .

" You are not alone ." He whispers softly in my ear, and those words are enough to make me cry silently .

Later on, I have dinner in my bedroom with Cam, who offered to dine with me since Mrs. Kevens banned anyone from coming into my bedroom during dinner time .

" Heard that you are preggo, spill the tea! Who's the father?" Cam smirks across the room .

He's sitting by my desk while I'm on my bed, both with a plateful of macaroni and cheese on our laps .

" Josh told you?" I ask , I didn't expect him to talk to everyone that fast . I didn't think he was that type of person , that's why I told him first .

" Summer did, and heard her parents arguing about it .Wow Lucas, is it Joshua's?"

" Gosh no! Of course not!" I make a funny face when Cam just laughs . " Josh and I will never be like that . " I say, cringing when I imagine being that close with Josh . I regard him as a brother I never had while growing up.

" Don't worry , I know. He's got his eyes on someone else, if you know what I mean ." Cam winks at me when I just stare at him to continue . " Oh no, you have to spill your tea first ." He gulps down his glass of waiting .

" Ugh! I'm pregnant, through a one night stand . Don't even know or remember the guy. Now I'm gonna spend 9 months being miserable and wondering if I'm making the right decision by keeping it . " I facepalm myself when I realise how much I have said without Cam asking, Cam on the other side has a satisfying smile on his face .

" If I were you, I wouldn't be worried about that . That baby you are carrying in there will be well taken care of by Summer, Joshua and I . It's got a whole new family now." Cam smiles at me warmly . I can't help but smile back at him. I never thought everyone was this invested in helping me .
