Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 84 The Mysterious Necklace Betty had seen this necklace many times. Every time, Kerwin held it in his hand like a treasure, lost in thought.
She bit back her words, looking at him quietly.
In the moonlight, Kerwin had a different look that he usually didnât have.
His look was soulful and sentimental, mixed with regret and helplessness.
Betty didnât know why. She felt like a little hedgehog was rolling on her chest, which made her uncomfortable.
At this time, Kerwin seemed to notice her and turned his head.
âYouâve had your bath?â In the blink of an eye, his face had recovered its usual coolness, and he had put the necklace back into his palm.
âYes.â Betty quickly calmed herself down, âYou can take the shower now.â
âOkay.â
Kerwin answered and walked back to the room.
He went to the desk and carefully put the necklace into the first drawer before entering the bathroom with a bath towel.
Betty stayed in the room and heard the flowing water in the next room. Her eyes rested on the desk involuntarily.
She was curious.
What was the story about that necklace? Why did Kerwin look so sad every time when he looked at the necklace?
Betty didnât know what was wrong with her. She never had a strong curiosity. But at this moment, an invisible hand seemed to be pushing her. She approached the desk step by step, just wanting.
She just wanted to take a look at itâ¦
It⦠would be fine, right?
After she confirmed that Kerwin was still taking the bath, she held her breath and gently opened his drawer.
Somehow, she just felt that the necklace was like a thorn in her heart bothering her.
Even when she was with Jeffrey, she never felt this way.
The drawer was unlocked and opened quickly. Betty saw some documents in it, on which there were some photos and the necklace.
She took it out the and held it in her palm carefully.
It was a charming piece, made of crystal. Although it was not as gorgeous as diamond, it looked clearer and purer, exquisite and expensive.
Betty turned the necklace and was stunned when she saw the back.
It was heart-shaped pendant, but a letter was carved on on the other side.
However, the letter was obviously sculpted by a layman. It was a bit rough but was easy to recognize. It was âJâ.
Betty suddenly thought of what Old Bruce said to herâ¦
âIt has been ten years since Julia died. I thought Kerwin would never be in love again.â
Did this necklace belong to the woman named Julia?
Who was she? Kerwinâs ex-girlfriend? Where was she now?
Driven by curiosity, Betty took out the photos in the drawer.
Then she was astonished.
It was a couple in the photos. They were very young and were about 18 years old.
Betty quickly recognized the boy. It was Kerwin.
He was young, not as mature and steady as he was now, but he was still handsome, looking juvenile and free-spirited.
He was like a cup of modest fragrant tea now, but in those days, he was like a cup of spirits, energetic and provocative. Anyone would fall in love with him at a glance.
But Betty cared more about the girl in the photos.
It was a gorgeous girl. Even Betty, a woman, couldnât take her eyes off her.
She always thought that Emily was already good-looking, but Emily to the girl was like a carnation to a rose. Compared with the girl, she wasnât charming enough.
Was this girl⦠Julia? The owner of this necklace?
Betty suddenly felt terrible.
She remembered that when she was in primary school, Roger transferred her to a private one. She met Emily and saw her in a beautiful dress. However, she stood beside her in embarrassment in the old clothes of boys. At this moment, she had the same feeling Betty was in a trance and didnât even realize that the flowing water in the bathroom had stopped.
Then a cold, angry voice sounded in her earâ¦
âBetty, what are you doing?â
Her attention was drawn back. She got up quickly and saw Kerwin who had come out of the bathroom at some time. He was in his pajamas with wet hair, staring at her with cold eyes.
Betty immediately panicked, as if she were a thief who had been caught. The necklace was still in her palm, âKerwin, I, I just⦠ah!â
She hurriedly wanted to explain and tried to put the it in her hand back. However, she was too nervous and the piece fell directly.
She turned even paler!
It was a crystal necklace! It would break if it fell to the ground!
She quickly bent down to catch it even with her injured arm. Her wound seemed to be reopened, but she completely ignored the pain.
However, Kerwin was faster.
He bent over, dashed to the necklace, and caught it in his palm.
Betty tried to grab it. When she saw that the necklace was OK, she let out a breath in relief.
With that, she heard Kerwinâs harsh voice above her headâ¦
âBetty, can you explain what youâre doing?â
Her heart did a somersault. She looked up and saw him coldly staring at her with the necklace in his hand.
Looking into his dark eyes, she felt like her heart was badly hammered. It hurt like hell.
She didnât expect that Kerwin would look at her with such eyes.
Even when she first met him, he would never look at her like this though he was cold to herâ¦
His eyes were icy, tinged with disgust.
Bettyâs lips quivered and she whispered, âSorry, you were always in a trance when you looked at the necklace, so I was curiousâ¦â
Her voice grew lower and lower until it was barely audible.
