Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 61 The Little Girl Hearing this, Betty was stunned.
Little girl?
Kerwinâs countenance changed when he heard it. He asked urgently, âWhat did you find?â
âItâs a photo taken around the place where the accident happened. Iâll send it to you.â
âYes please.â
Hanging up the phone, Kerwin continued to order takeout online. But Betty couldnât help asking out of curiosity, âWhat little girl?â
Kerwin turned to Betty.
Usually, Kerwin might get annoyed if other people asked him about his personal affairs.
However, he even got a bit delighted seeing that Betty cared about his life.
It seemed that Betty finally paid attention to Kerwin.
âA little girl saved me years ago when I was kidnapped.â Kerwin had no intention of hiding the truth from Betty. âIâve been looking for her for years. I want to thank her.â
Betty was stunned.
Was it the kidnapping that caused Kerwin disabled?
Betty was a little curious. But she knew that the kidnapping to Kerwin was just like the accident to her two years ago, both nightmares. So she stopped to ask further.
Kerwin placed the order quickly. Half an hour later, the doorbell rang.
Betty opened the door and saw a delivery boy standing nervously outside. âDid you order the pizza?â
Betty was a little surprised when she saw the pizza box in the boyâs hand.
It turned out that Kerwin ordered pizza online.
âRight,â Betty answered. Apparently, the boy had never delivered the takeout to such a wealthy suburb, so he was quite nervous. Betty signed quickly. âThank you.â
Walking into the room with the pizza box in her hand, Betty couldnât help asking, âKerwin, do you like eating pizza?â
Seeing the box, Kerwin was a bit surprised, too. âIs it a pizzeria?â
âYes. Oh, donât you know it?â
Kerwin frowned, turned his laptop to Betty, and said, âThe restaurant is named âItalian Moodâ. I thought that I ordered some Italian cuisine.â
Betty was speechless.
Betty couldnât help thinking that Kerwin, a rich man of a rich family, must lack some everyday experience that he didnât realize the name of the restaurant was partly just for publicity. Their food may have nothing to do with the restaurant name.
âNormally, the Italian food was only enjoyed by people in the restaurant. Most of the takeout was pizza, pizza of Italian favor.â Betty put the pizza on the table. âHave you ever eaten pizza?â
âI used to have had blackened pizza in Europe.â Kerwin lowered his eyes. âI really havenât eaten such pizza in a box.â
âHah⦠Then have a taste.â Betty gave Kerwin a piece of pizza with a smile.
Taking a bite, Kerwin frowned slightly. âIt tastes different from what I used to eat.â
âHa ha.â Betty got delighted. âItâs good to have a taste of a different flavor.â
As she was speaking, she pulled a big slice and put it into her mouth.
In fact, Betty preferred simple and quick food to delicate dishes prepared by Lillian every day.
She still remembered that when she was in college, she used to eat fast food with Jeffrey. Although it was unhealthy, they like it.
Betty eating pizza with a bright smile on her face, Kerwin was suddenly in a trance.
He found that he didnât know enough about Betty.
As Betty and Kerwin were eating pizza, Peter arrived.
Seeing the pizza on the table, Peter was in great shock.
Peter knew that Kerwin was particular about food. But he actually saw Kerwin eating pizza now.
Peter tried to make himself look less shocked, handed the envelope to Kerwin, and said deferentially, âMr. Martin, this is the photo.â
Betty, still holding a pizza in her mouth, thought that maybe she should go into her room not to bother them. However, Martin didnât mind at all. He directly opened the envelope and took out the photos inside.
When Kerwin saw the photo, he frowned. âItâs too blurry.â
Obviously, the photo was taken by some tourist casually. In the photo, a girl in a red skirt was under a willow tree near the lake. Even her face couldnât be seen clearly.
âIâm sorry, Mr. Martin. The photo was taken by someone accidentally,â Peter felt sorry. âBut the girl matches your description. She should be the one youâve been looking for.â
Kerwin picked up the photo and sunk into deep thought. Betty couldnât help but take a closer look.
Although the girlâs face couldnât be recognized, it could be predicted that she was about 15 years old.
The clearest part in the photo was her clothes, a red fluffy skirt, quite special.
Betty suddenly realized something and blurted out, âThis skirtâ¦â
Kerwin raised his eyebrows. âDo you know this skirt?â
âIt looks familiar.â Betty bit her lip, and an answer suddenly hit her. âOh, this skirt seems to be worn by a heroine in animation in my junior high school days. Disney released a limited edition at that time. All girls wanted to have such a skirt back then.â
Hearing this, Peter suddenly thought of something. âRight. Mr. Martin, the girl you are looking for seems to be more or less Mrs. Martinâs age.â
Kerwin was kidnapped ten years ago. Betty was exactly 15 years old back then.
âDid you have this skirt, too?â Kerwin suddenly raised his eyebrows.
Betty smiled bitterly. âIt was a limited edition. It cost thousands of dollars. How could I afford it?â
Kerwin nodded, put the photo back in the envelope, and said to Peter, âSince it was a limited edition, then it would be much easier to find out the girl if the skirt was genuine.â
Peter nodded and left immediately.
Kerwin and Betty continued to eat pizza.
Betty didnât know whether it was her illusion. She found that after Peter left, Kerwin seemed to have a poorer appetite than before. She cast several glances at Kerwin and caught the fleeting trance on his face.
Did Kerwin think of the kidnapping years ago?
The details of the kidnapping hadnât been disclosed by the media because the Martin family did a news blackout. However, it must be a terrible kidnapping that Kerwinâs legs were severely injured.
As Betty was staring at Kerwinâs face in a daze, she was awakened from the deep thought suddenly by Kerwinâs voice.
âWhy do you stare at me for such a long time?â
Betty was stunned and then felt embarrassed. She quickly lowered her head, her face red all over.
âSorry.â
Kerwin chuckled and didnât say anything. Finishing the pizza, Betty went to take a bath.
After the shower, she went out of the bathroom. As she was drying her hair, she noticed that Kerwin was not in the living room anymore. Instead, he was standing on the balcony of the master bedroom.
He was in a daze as if deep in thought.
