Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 47
Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 47 The Second Interview Bettyâs body stiffened. Then she turned around to see Jeffrey looking at her.
ITMr. Martin.â she said, trying to control her emotions. âIâm not feeling well today. Can you ask someone else to go with you?â
âNo way,â Jeffrey said in a forceful tone. âThis is the second interview with the CEO of the Tylman Group. You interviewed him last time, so he had seen you once. Youâd better go with me.â
Betty frowned.
She thought she would be crazy if she went to interview Kerwin with Jeffrey.
âBut Iâm not feeling well. Iâm afraid Iâll screw up this interview. Sarah interviewed the CEO with me last time. You could ask her to do it.â
âBetty,â Jeffrey said in an impatient and icy tone. âAre you trying to quit your job?â
Except for Jeffreyâs office, all the other employees shared a large desk and worked in the same office.
When the other employees heard Kerwin and Bettyâs conversation, they quieted down and watched their interaction carefully.
Glaring at Jeffrey, Betty gave up and said, âFine. Iâll come with you, Mr. Martin.â
âLetâs go,â Jeffrey said as he turned to leave while Betty followed him with a cold face.
After Jeffrey and Betty left, the employees began to have a heated discussion.
âGee, whatâs going on? I notice that there is something off between Betty and Mr. Martin. I thought Mr.
Martin liked Betty.â
âAre you stupid? How can you say Mr. Martin doesnât like Betty? If he didnât like her, would he let her go with him to interview such an important client?â
âBut I just saw that the two of them were about to quarrel.â
âNot to me. Betty was throwing tantrums at Mr. Martin.â
Because the office had many employees, they often gossiped with each other. Although Betty had only worked for the magazine for two years, she was doing very well. Because she worked hard to follow up and report many stories, her performance was even better than some senior reporters who had been working for three or four years.
However, others would not think so.
In the past, it was rumored that Betty was a gold digger. At present, the other employees found her and Jeffreyâs relationship was not that simple, so they would exaggerate their predictions.
However, Betty did not know that she had become the talk of the town. She got into a limo with Jeffrey and headed to the Tylman Group with a stern face.
She finally could not hold back her anger any longer. âJeffrey, what do you want from me?â
âWhat? Are you afraid?â Jeffrey sneered. âIsnât Kerwin one of your clients? How dare you be a homewrecker to destroy other families?â
At this point, Betty felt that Jeffrey was losing his mind. She did not want to say anything to him and could only look out the window.
The car finally drove up to the Tylman Group. Betty then followed Jeffrey upstairs. Led by the secretary, she approached Kerwinâs office again.
His office was decorated in a modern style. In front of the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, Kerwin was sitting in a wheelchair. As the sunlight shone through the window, he looked as if he was radiating dazzling light.
âKerwin,â Jeffrey said as he walked up with Betty. âI said I wanted to interview you out of the blue. Iâm so sorry. I guess Iâm not interrupting your work, am I?â
Kerwin turned around slowly as he said, âItâs alright. Itâs just a little interview.â
Kerwin looked calm when he saw Betty.
âOkay, letâs get started.â
Jeffrey chuckled and motioned for Betty to sit down on the couch, while Kerwin pushed his wheelchair across to them without even looking at Betty.
âMr. Martin, thank you for your last interview with us.â Jeffrey acted as if he was doing a normal interview. âThanks to your interview, our magazine sales have increased a lot.â
âYouâre welcome.â
âThis interview is mainly about the Outstanding Youth Award you recently received,â Jeffrey said slowly.
âMay I ask how you feel after receiving this award?â
âItâs a recognition,â Kerwin said briefly.
At this point, Betty was having a hard time calming down.
She knew Jeffrey too well. Since he came to interview Kerwin himself, he must have ulterior motives.
Is it because?
Is it because?
She blushed when Betty suddenly thought of the photos.
Could Jeffrey be trying to show those photos to Kerwin?
Betty didnât even assume that Jeffrey had already shown those photos to Kerwin. And the only reason why Jeffrey interviewed Kerwin was that he was reluctant to see Kerwin was indifferent to those photos. When the magazine decided to interview Kerwin again, he brought Betty to interview him.
After asking Kerwin a few routine questions, Jeffrey blinked and said, âBy the way, after this award ceremony, a lot of people on the Internet are talking about your wife.â
Kerwin nodded with a slight gloom in his eyes. âThatâs right.â
âMay I ask you to share more about your wife?â Jeffrey put on a polite smile. âMr. Martin, you know how female readers love to read such topics.â
âMy wife?â Kerwin flashed a grin. âSheâs just a very ordinary woman.â
âCould you describe it a little more, please?â Jeffrey asked as he glanced at Betty. âShe must be a very innocent and kind woman. Mr. Martin, are you two close to each other?â
Hearing Jeffreyâs question, Betty realized why he had brought her to interview Kerwin.
Jeffrey was trying to force Kerwin to tell her how innocent his wife was and how much they loved each other to make her give up on Kerwin and feel ashamed.
Betty found it hilarious.
Is Jeffrey trying to make me jealous?
She wondered how Jeffrey would react if he knew she was Kerwinâs wife.
Then she pictured the scene in her mind and then shivered. She still hoped that the day when Jeffrey knows the truth would come later.
Meanwhile, Kerwin also realized Jeffreyâs intentions.
Out the corner of his eye, Kerwin glanced at Betty, who was trying to hold back her laughter. Then he put on a smile.
Since she found it hilarious, he did not mind playing along with her.
âMy wife is indeed very simple and kind,â Kerwin said. âShe is very shy and sweet. She always blushes at me after we get married.â
Betty froze. The moment she raised her eyes, she met Kerwinâs gaze.
