Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 23 Jeffreyâs Real identity âBetty, are you happy that I will become your brother-in-law?â Jeffrey looked down at Betty and asked in a sarcastic tone.
âDo you want me to be happy?â Betty looked at Jeffrey coldly and said,â Or do you want me to call you the young master of the Martin family?â
Jeffrey suddenly pinched Bettyâs hand with greater strength, which made her hand turn red.
Betty seemed to feel no pain and put on a mocking smile instead. âWhat? Canât I say it?â
The poor boy, who could not even pay the tuition, turned out to be the young master of the Martins. âI really didnât know you back then.â
Betty saying this was more of mocking herself instead of sneering at Jeffrey.
How came she believed that Jeffrey was from a poor family? He couldnât even cook meals and had never taken a bus.
Irritated by Bettyâs remarks, Jeffrey raised his voice because of anger, âYes! I lied to you before. But, so what? If I didnât pretend to be a poor boy, I would never know that you are a material girl.â
Jeffrey disliked other people calling him âThe young master of the Martin familyâ. And he hated those people coming to him because of his family background.
Therefore, Jeffrey refused to go to college in the United Kingdom as arranged by his father. Instead, he went to Yale University in Connecticut and pretended to be a poor boy.
It was at that time that he met Betty.
as Jeffrey really cherished Betty back then. Betty didnât know his true identity, but she still loved him.
But later, everything changed. Betty abandoned him because he was poor and even provided services to men for money.
Thinking of the disgusting photos before, Jeffrey felt a pain in his heart and grabbed Betty even harder, âBetty, now you know that I am not only the EIC of the magazine but also the young master of the Martins, do you regret it? Oh, but itâs too late.â
Betty raised her eyes slowly, stared into Jeffreyâs angry eyes, and muttered, âRight. It is too late.â
Before Jeffrey reacted, Betty suddenly shook him off. âIf time flew backward, I wish I have never met you.â
With this, Betty turned around and left him.
After walking into the corridor, Betty finally couldnât bear it anymore. She held the wall and burst into tears.
She used to think that it was unnecessary to explain to Jeffrey. But now, she didnât bother to explain to him, who cheated and distrusted her before.
It was not until now that she realized that her first love, her most precious memory, was a total lie.
âBetty?â
As Betty was on the verge of collapsing, she heard a clear and sweet voice.
Raising her head, Betty saw Emily with a strange look, standing beside her.
Betty held back her tears immediately, âWhat?â
âNothing. Mom told me to get some wine. Would you go with me?â
Betty nodded and followed Emily to the wine cellar.
âJeffrey doesnât like red wine.â Emily suddenly said as she chose the red wine. âHe doesnât look like a rich man from a powerful family. He doesnât have the habits of rich people.â
Betty didnât know why Emily said this. So she could only nod and give a short reply for confirmation.
âSo it was reasonable that you didnât know that he was the young master of the Martin family back then.â Emily continued.
Hearing this, Betty was stunned. She looked up but only saw Emily smiling brightly. âBut Betty, itâs too late for you to know the truth. Jeffrey is my fiance now.â
Betty felt that all her blood flew backward.
She suddenly realized that Emily knew her past with Jeffrey.
âYouâ¦â Betty was about to ask further but only got interrupted by Emily.
âYou must be wondering how I know your past history with Jeffrey?â Emily smiled brightly even more.
âJeffrey told me all about it.â
Hearing this, Betty felt uncomfortable.
Betty wondered whether Jeffrey told their past to Emily as if it was a great joke.
âOh.â Even if Betty felt a bit distressed, she didnât want to show weakness in front of Emily.
âEh, Betty, you donât seem very happy.â Emily held a bottle of wine and approached her step by step.
Betty couldnât bear her strange tone and said coldly. âEmily, what do you want to say?â
Emily finally dropped the fake smile and said in a low voice, with a trace of viciousness in her eyes, âBetty, I know that you and Jeffrey are in the same company. But I warn you. Never try to lay a finger on him. He doesnât belong to you anymore.â
Emilyâs threat was like a joke to Betty.
âRelax.â She raised her hand expressionless. âIâm married. Your fiance is your fiance. Iâm not interested.â
Only then did Emily notice the ring on Bettyâs finger. She was stunned for a while but burst into laughter suddenly.
âBetty, I donât know that you are married. Why donât tell me earlier?â Taking a closer look at the ring, Emily laughed wildly. âIt seems that my brother-in-law is an honest man. He must be very good to you.â
Emily meant that Betty married a poor man. But she didnât say it bluntly.
Betty didnât deny it either. She replied blandly, âSo you can finally relax.â
âYes, I have nothing to worry about.â Emily put on an innocent expression and blinked. âAfter all, something bad happened to you two years ago. Even if you want to be with Jeffrey again, he will not accept you. You disgust him.â
Betty trembled uncontrollably and stared at Emily angrily.
Putting on a brighter smile, Emily suddenly approached Betty and said to her in a low voice, âAfter all, no men could stand a woman who got laid by an old disgusting man for money?â
Emilyâs remarks stung Betty like a needle. Betty shuddered uncontrollably. âEnough, stop talkingâ¦â
But Emily would not let her go easily. She continued to whisper to Betty, âBetty, does your husband know that you lost your virginity to a disgusting old man two years ago? And you only got 10,000 dollars in the endâ¦â
âI said enough!â Finally, Betty could not bear it and pushed Emily away.
âAh!â
Emily was pushed to the ground, the wine bottle breaking into pieces.
âEmily!â
