Chapter 174
Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 174 The Mastermind Behind the Scenes Kerwin?
Betty wondered what Kerwin had done that Sarah admired him so much.
Sarah was still excited. âCheck out Kerwinâs interview online now. Itâs amazing.â She couldnât help but give Betty a thumbs up.
Betty picked up her phone. Kerwin called her eight times in addition to Jeffreyâs three calls, but she hadnât touched her phone before.
Since Kerwin was so eager to see her, everyone knew what he wanted to say. Betty was grateful, but she didnât know how to face Kerwin now and felt guilty for him. Having bothered him, she felt very uncomfortable.
It was a video of Kerwinâs interview about the online gossip that Betty was involved in. At the time, the scene was noisy and chaotic.
In the video, a group of reporters surrounded Kerwin. Peter was maintaining order, but reporters still didnât want to let Kerwin go and asked him for his opinion on the news about Betty, which was a mess.
In the chaos, only Kerwin remained in his wheelchair, as indifferent as an ice sculpture.
He was silent but had a powerful aura that seemed to rush out of the screen.
Finally, a reporter broke through the siege, approached Kerwin, and screamed, âMr. Martin, please tell me what you think!â
Kerwin turned his head slightly and looked at the reporter.
The camera kept shaking, but the look in his eyes was chilling!
Betty could tell that Kerwin was extremely angry.
He didnât shout, and his expression didnât change, but just one gaze made the reporters around him shudder and all quiet down.
In the silence, Kerwin said slowly.
âI know Betty better than anyone.â
His words were so bland but so powerful that all the reporters present held their breath!
Also, even Betty and others watching it before the screen could feel the power of Kerwinâs words.
He believed in Betty, even though all the people in the world were blaming her now.
There were tears in Bettyâs eyes.
She didnât seem worthy of Kerwinâs trust.
All the humiliation she suffered today was instantly wiped out by Kerwinâs words.
At this point, Betty felt power and light. With Kerwin, nothing would pose any threat to her!
Betty was moved and in a better mood.
Amid numerous comments, the periodical office closed its doors. After packing her things up, Betty walked out of the gate of the periodical office.
She didnât want to hear the boring comments of those people. Some things were hard to explain, so Betty didnât say anything.
She didnât need to explain anything.
Going out of the periodical officeâs gate, Betty saw Kerwinâs black Bentley at the intersection.
Kerwin came to take her home.
He seemed worried about Betty being recognized on the bustling subway.
Betty stood there, at a loss. She didnât know how to face Kerwin.
Kerwin opened the car window and whispered to her, âGet in the car!â
Betty smiled at him and got into the car.
After she took her seat, Kerwin continued, âSorry. I was too hasty at the previous press. conference. I didnât think about it before I revealed your identity.â
Betty quickly shook her head. âItâs okay. Iâm used to it. However, for involving Tylman Group and you, I felt extremely guilty and afraid that you would ignore me again or that you would be angryâ¦â
âI was very angry,â Kerwin said.
Betty looked at Kerwin in panic.
Kerwin continued, âBecause I didnât protect you.â
Hearing this, Betty let out a long sigh and quivered her lips. âThis is not your fault.â
âIâve started investigating what happened two years ago,â Kerwin said.
Betty was taken aback and understood what he was talking about.
If the truth of two years ago could be revealed, all these rumors would be explained.
About what happened two years ago, Betty thought about the reason for it, but she still couldnât figure it out.
âSince two years ago, Iâve been wondering who I offended or if I was framed by some evildoers. Why would they do this to me, an immature college girl? I thought they wanted to get revenge on Jeffrey, but Jeffrey had left me, so I donât think they were targeting him.â
Kerwin thought so too at first. Later, when the mastermind began to destroy evidence. and clues, he knew that these people were not evildoers but probably the ones Jeffrey or Betty knew.
Betty also thought it might have been done. by the guys she knew, like Emily and Daisy.
However, she thought that was impossible.
These two were arrogant enough in front of her, so there was no need for them to be so vicious.
Moreover, Emily communicated very little with her and only appeared a few times in college without any quarrels and conflicts.
So, Emily had no reason to hate Betty.
A cool breeze came in from the car window, making Betty feel a little cold and lean on Kerwin tightly.
On this day, Betty was very sad and very tired. Now, Kerwin was by her side and trying to protect her, so she could rest easy.
Betty finally smiled. Her fate was closely tied to this man.
Betty rested her head on Kerwinâs shoulder like a kitten and fell asleep.
It was quiet in the car. At the moment of meeting Betty, Kerwin, who had been nervous all day, also felt much more relaxed.
Looking at the sleeping woman, he felt a little distressed, but the soft touch of her body relieved it.
After a while, Peter in the passenger seat answered a call with the Bluetooth headset in his ear.
After talking for a while, he hung up the phone and showed a happy expression.
He whispered to Kerwin, âMr. Martin, we have an important clue, which may be very helpful to Mrs.
Martin.â
Kerwin blinked and asked, âYou know whoâs behind this?â
Peter replied, âNot yet. But, Mr. Martin, they learned something about what happened two years ago. A guy involved in it was taken abroad. They found the guy. Now heâs tied up in the underground garage and waiting to be interrogated by us.
Kerwin smiled.
The news came just in time.
