Chapter 285
Love in the Limelight (Astrid and Elio)
Chapter 285 Gracie: âHow could it not be possible? The internet is buzzing that Joana got the lead role, sheâs on the brink of stardom!â
Astrid: âCalm down, Gracie. Letâs wait for the official announcement.â
After hanging up the phone, Astrid logged onto Twitter, only to find it flooded with news of Joana landing the leading lady role in Endless Longing.
People were not just singing Joanaâs praises, they were also throwing shade at her.
They were comparing the two since they had previously worked together and were now both in the running for the same role.
âAstrid is the better fit, isnât she? After all, beauty is power.â
âI reckon Joanaâs the better bet though, she may not be as striking as Astrid, but sheâs got a solid body of work under her belt!â âI canât wait to see Astrid in period costume!â
After scrolling through a few comments, Astrid got bored and was about to hit the sack when a message popped up on her screen. Dale: âRoberson rang me, youâre confirmed for the lead in Endless Longing. Contract signing at 1 pm, do you need a lift?â
Astrid: âNah, I can make it on my own.â
Joana was just trying to stir the pot and making a splash. She wlways up to no good.
When Astrid got home, Yates had already left. She set her alarm and retreated back to bed.
Halfâasleep, she caught a whiff of something delicious.
The smell grew stronger and she roused herself, only to find Elio cook in the kitchen, apron on and all.
Astrid leaned against the kitchen doorway, asking lazily, âArenât you supposed to be at work, Elio?â
Without turning, Elio softly replied, âIâve been practicing some new recipes, thought you might want to give them a try.â
Astrid pursed her lips, not saying a thing.
The soup had a medicinal smell. Though Elioâs culinary skills were far from stellar, for someone who didnât know how to cook at all, his progress was -
impressive.
Soon, Elio had a meal ready. He ladled some soup into a bowl for Astrid and cautioned, âThis soupâs still hot, wait a bit before drinking.â
Astrid didnât respond, but she knew what medicinal herbs Elio had added to the soup.
They were to help with her pain.
Sheâd had them before, but they were bitter and sheâd given up on them.
Elio watched her intently, worried she would refuse to have it.
She took a small sip, the bitterness instantly spreading across her tongue, âI canât do this anymore, itâs too bitter.â
Elio: âYou have to.â
Astrid gulped down water and protested, âIâm fine, Iâve been in pain so long, so Iâm used to it. This medicine is even more bitter than my sleepwalking meds. I really canât stomach it.â
After downing several glasses of water, Astrid felt like she was about to lose her sense of taste.
Watching her suffer, Elio took the bowl from her.
He stared at the soup for a moment, then took a cautious sip with his own spoon, his face contorting at the bitterness.
Astrid said, âI told you itâs bitter, you...â
Before she could finish, Elio downed a few more mouthfuls, then said, âIâll drink it with you.â
âNo!â Astrid shook her head.
Elio: âIâll have three sips, you have one.â
Astrid: âNo way.â
Elio: âIâll drink a whole bowl, you have a sip.â
Astrid: âNo!â
Elio fell silent for a moment, then suddenly stood up and leaned in, âIf you wonât drink it yourself, Iâll feed it to you.â
With that, he gulped down the remaining soup, then fixed her with a stare.
