Chapter 235
Love in the Limelight (Astrid and Elio)
Chapter 235 Mrs. Faye said. âMagic... Itâs all a big fat lie. Itâs all smoke and mirrors, but it takes real talent to play the piano!â
âThose tricks all look magical on TV, but in person, theyâre all phony. Who knows how many people they hired to help?!â âOnly a fool would think a magician was legit!â
âOh, really?â Astrid interjected, gently setting down Roman and then pulling out a wad of cash from her bag.
She handed the money to Mrs. Faye, âHere, please check if these are regular banknotes.â
Everyone was puzzled, especially Mrs. Faye, but she took the notes and gave them a thorough examination, âNo problem, these are regular banknotes.â Astrid didnât say anything and took back the notes.
And ripped them in half!
Everyone was shocked. Even though it was just a couple hundred bucks, tearing them up was a total waste!
In the midst of their shock, Astrid held the torn pieces in her hand, âMrs. Faye, you can start counting down from ten.â
As she said this, Astrid clasped her hands together, dovering the torn pieces in her palm. She gently rubbed them, leaving everyone on edge.
Just as Mrs. Faye counted down to one, Astrid opened her hands. The torn banknotes were perfectly restored; there wasnât a single trace of damage, and even the serial numbers were exactly the same as before.
Everyone gasped, âMs. Irvine is freaking awesome!!â
âYeah, itâs magic!â
âI was staring the whole time; this isnât magic, itâs sorcery!â
âNo, impossible! Magic is all fake!â Mrs. Faye clutched the banknotes, her face burning.
But she couldnât spot any trickery. And Astrid didnât tell her to check the serial numbers; she remembered them herself. The banknote serial numbers were sequential, and the restored ones had the exact same numbers!
Astrid looked at Mrs. Faye, speaking softly, âMrs. Faye, is it that hard to admit that someone else is good? Your daughterâs mastery of the piano is excellent, and so is my magic. Thereâs no need to put me down to prop up your daughter. Excellence isnât bragged about; itâs proven.â

Astrid didnât say anything too harsh and just stated the facts calmly.
If Astrid had said anything inappropriate, Mrs. Faye might have argued back.
But Astridâs words were all reasonable; if she argued further, it would just be making a fuss for no reason.
Amanda liked her even more when she saw how gracefully Astrid handled the situation.
Mrs. Faye lowered her head awkwardly. Just then, the butler walked over, âA package just arrived by courier. It was marked as urgent, so I brought it over immediately.â
âAn urgent package at this hour; it must be something important!â Amanda hurried over to take the package.
Seeing this, Hawthorne in the corner narrowed his eyes slightly.
Amanda opened the package and examined its contents closely. Suddenly, her face changed, and, then she turned to look at Astrid!
