Chapter 45
Husband
Chapter 45
Ramon was completely stunned.
After missing the kick, he couldnât stop himself and crashed into the wall of the corridor. Feeling embarrassed, he saw Vera reprimanding Carlos.
Should he applaud?
âYou can to Neilâs room from the balcony.â Ramon pointed to the door of the next room, and Vera quickly followed him.
After going to the next room and reaching the balcony, Vera casily jumped over and landed on Neilâs balcony.
The little guy was crying under the blanket in the room. When Vera gently hugged him from behind the blanket, he struggled fiercely.
âNeil, itâs me, Mommy.â Vera thought he couldnât hear, and she had to exert some effort to make hirn realize it was her.
Unexpectedly, the next second, the child uncovered the blanket and rushed into her arms.
Vera kissed and hugged him, comforting him for a while until the little oneâs emotions calmed down.
[I hate Miss Powell. Sheâs a bad woman,] Neil typed on his phone.
âDonât worry, Neil. I wonât let your daddy marry that bad woman.â Veraâs promise reassured Neil a lot.
[Daddy and Mommy will be together,] Neil typed another line on his phone.
Veraâs heart twitched.
She would never forgive Carlos for everything he had done to her.
Not to mention being together with him, for the sake of their three children, sparing his life was already her greatest
concession.
âDaddy and Mommyâ¦â Vera was thinking about how to explain it to the child when the door was opened.
It turned out to be the butler who brought the master key, capable of unlocking any room in the villa.
Carlos walked in. He seemed calm, but the slight twitch at the corner of his eyes exposed the immense pain he was enduring.
Vera regretted not being harsher just now. She should directly end this manâs lineage.
As soon as Neil saw his dad, he turned his head in anger.
âNeil?â Carlos tried to coax his son, but Neil ignored him. He then said to the others, âYou all go out.â
Vera was anxious. âWhat do you want to do? Are you going to hit the child?â
âMiss Vivian, you misunderstood. Mr. Monroe has never laid a finger on Mr. Neil. He cares for him,â said the butler, defending Carlos.
Carlos, however, was ungrateful. âDonât talk too much.â
The butler awkwardly left.
Vera didnât believe the butlerâs words at all. Samuel had told her that Carlos had spanked his hands.

Chapter 45
Carlos glanced at Vera again, his eyes sinister and terrifying. He was on the edge of anger.
Vera dared not provoke him on his turf and had to get up and walk towards the door. She told Neil as she left, âDonât be afraid, Neil. Weâll be right outside.â
âHurry up.â Carlos was extremely impatient.
Vera had to quicken her pace.
With a bang, the door closed, separating Vera and Neil.
She didnât know what Neil and Carlos had talked about, but when the door opened again, Neil seemed to have forgiven Carlos.
Carlos didnât say much. He hurriedly went to Monroe Group after he answered a phone call.
Neil was currently undergoing treatment, and during this special period, whether the child would go to kindergarten or not depended on Dr. Miracleâs arrangements and the childâs willingness.
Neil actually wanted to go to kindergarten to see his younger siblings, but since he didnât spend time with Vera last night, he wanted to make up for that time.
After having lunch and a good nap, he would go to kindergarten,
âAlright, itâs up to you,â Vera agreed.
For a sick child like Neil, it was more important to recover as soon as possible than to go to kindergarten.
âWhat do you want to do in the morning?â Vera also wanted to make up for all the time she wasnât with Neil.
