Chapter 227
I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother
Kaywhin approached compliantly. Yelenaâs hand touched his sleeve. She held onto it and pulled her husband closer, closing the distance between them.
Their bodies had already been acquainted like this several times, but Kaywhinâs solid shoulders and back stiffened at the touch, like it was the first time.
Yelena tilted her head a long way back and looked into Kaywhinâs eyes.
âDarling.â
ââ¦Yes.â
âWhy are you getting better at enticing me?â
âIâm sorry?â
There was a hint of embarrassment in Kaywhinâs voice.
âHave I⦠enticed you?â
âLook at you.â
Yelena let go of Kaywhinâs sleeve and slowly swept her hand across his shoulders.
âYou have no idea what you do to me.â
The laughter that slipped from Yelenaâs lips was filled with the nerves that fluttered within her body.
âWhat should I do⦠Youâre too dangerousâ¦â
[Bloody hell.]
Yelena ignored the Holy Swordâs voice as usual and wrapped her arms around Kaywhinâs neck.
But then, right before their breaths became entangled, they heard an unignorable sound.
Knock, knock.
âIs someone there?â
ââ¦â
âIâll ask again. Is someone there?â
âShould we pretend we arenât here?â Yelena whispered quietly.
As if notifying them that Yelenaâs idea was futile, the voice from the other side of the door spoke again.
âIâm opening the door.â
Then, clack, the door to the terrace opened without permission.
ââ¦â
Yelena sighed and lowered the arms that were around Kaywhinâs neck.
âWhat is it?â Yelena asked with a sour voice.
The person who had entered the terrace was a palace servant. He bowed.
âI apologize for my impertinence. His Highness the Crown Prince is urgently seeking Duke Mayhard.â
âHis Highness⦠the Crown Prince?â
Conscious of the servant, Yelena just barely managed to address the crown prince formally. She furrowed her brow.
âWhat business does he have with my husband?â
âI was not informed of the details.â
âI can go with him, right?â
Yelena took a step forward. But the servant shook his head.
âHis Highness has expressed his intention to meet with Duke Mayhard alone.â
âWhat?â
âIâll be right back.â
âKaywhin.â
Yelena snapped her head towards Kaywhin. He smiled softly.
âDonât you trust me?â
ââ¦I trust you, but I canât trust that punk, the crown prince,â Yelena whispered quietly enough to be out of the servantâs earshot.
âNothing will happen that will make you worry, Wife,â Kaywhin reassured.
ââ¦â
âIf you wait here, Iâll be right back.â
âWhat if the crown prince doesnât let you go so soon?â
âStill, Iâll come back.â
Yelenaâs eyes flickered like a candle. Kaywhinâs resolute words that sounded like an oath calmed her down a little.
ââ¦If he says anything insulting to you, donât just let him get away with it.â
âI wonât.â
âHe doesnât have the right to speak rashly to a duke just because heâs the crown prince. You know that, right? Get angry at him. Do not, under any circumstances, hold yourself back.â
âOkay.â
After entreating Kaywhin a few more times, Yelena unwillingly bid him goodbye.
ââ¦Iâll be waiting.â
âPardon me.â
The servant looked at Kaywhinâs belt.
âI apologize. You cannot have a sword in possession when you are alone with His Highness.â
The servantâs eyes landed on the Holy Sword. Weapons werenât prohibited inside the banquet hall, but things were different when it was a private meeting with the crown prince.
âIf you leave it with me, I will keep it in the royal castleâs storage room until your meeting is overâ¦â
âIâll hold onto it.â
Yelena readily drew the Holy Sword from her husbandâs belt and held it to her chest.
âEverythingâs okay now, right?â
ââ¦Yes. We shall go now.â
The servant exited the terrace with Kaywhin.
As soon as the door closed, Yelena sank down on the chair closest to her. Even if she didnât want to, she couldnât help but sigh.
âWhew.â
[What is it? Is the crown prince that infuriating of a person?]
âYou donât know about him?â Yelena asked abruptly, puzzled by how the Holy Sword seemed not to know about the crown prince at all.
âHe wanted you. At the Countdom.â
[Iâve only just recently gained consciousness. Before that, I was asleep.]
ââ¦Really?â
[I was influenced by your power. I gain consciousness when a being who can break my seal is close by.]
âHmmâ¦â
Hearing about that âpowerâ always felt brand new, since Yelena had never even imagined possessing such a thing.
âAnyhow, that means you must have been asleep for a very long time. Is that why you talk so much?â
[Me? A chatterbox? Thatâs my first time hearing it.]
âA chattersword is more like it.â
[Anyhow. Is that important right now?]
Yelena killed time with her petty bickering with the Holy Sword.
When she started nervously tapping the table with her fingertips, the terrace door opened.
