Chapter 247: 144 Surgery (First Revision)_3
The Prime Minister's Darling
A glimmer of terror flashed through the eyes of the third princeâs wife.
âAbsolutely not!â Madame Xu stepped onto the horse carriage, blocking the princeâs wife: âYouâre but a lowly medical handmaid, trying to slice open my ladyâs stomach! I see youâre obviously trying to scare us! Speak! How much silver do you want?â
âIâm not scaring anyone, whether to get treated or not is up to you.â Gu Jiao said, and stood up to leave.
She had barely taken a few steps when her wrist was seized by a cold hand.
The third princeâs wife held on tightly, almost as if she was mustering up all her strength: âCan you really save me?â
âMy lady!â
The two court ladies suddenly blanched.
Could the third princeâs wife be serious?
Actually allowing this medical handmaid to slice open her stomach?
Sheâs gone mad! Mad!
This medical handmaid has gone mad!
The third princeâs wife has gone mad!
Madame Xu warned: âMy lady, donât listen to her! Iâll bring the royal physician immediately!â
Gu Jiao replied indifferently: âGo ahead.â
âDonâtâ¦â The third princeâs wife clung tightly onto Gu Jiaoâs wrist.
She had seen this illness before, her nanny had suffered the same pain before she married. The painful area was exactly the same as her own, with identical symptoms. She had summoned the royal physician to treat her, but he could not cure her, and the nanny died in extreme pain!
She too, was going to die!
Madame Xu cried, âMy lady! You mustnât!â
As the princess, she cannot have a knife wound on her body. During the palace selection, even a tiny blemish on the body can lead to disqualification.
Though she is now married, she is the wife of a prince; her body is not her own, but belongs to the third prince.
Without the third princeâs permission, she cannot harm her own body as she pleases.
Though she was in too much pain to speak, Gu Jiao understood everything through her eyes.
Gu Jiao carried the princess from the carriage. The two court ladies could do nothing to stop her.
Madame Xu told the coachman: âGo back to the palace and inform His Highness immediately!â
âYes!â The coachman promptly headed back to the palace.
Gu Jiao carried the princess into the chamber and laid her on the makeshift operating table.
The princess looked at her in fear.
Gu Jiao wasnât adept at understanding familyâs emotions, but she instantly comprehended her patientâs.
She said, âRest assured, Iâm very experienced. Iâve conducted many surgeries before, Iâm not just any medical handmaid, my skills are exceptional. The surgery procedure isnât complicated, and it wonât hurt. Iâll give you anesthesia, so you wonât feel a thing throughout the process.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
She spoke profusely to ease the patientâs feeling.
The princessâs eyes turned red against her will.
She was not just afraid of death or pain, but of many, many other things.
Her life belongs to the royal family, not her.
Her body is the Third Highnessâs, not hers.
Allowing another person to harm her body without her husbandâs permission would make her a target of public abuse!
Gu Jiao stared at her firmly: âNothing is more important than your own life. Your body belongs to you, you donât need anyone to make decisions for you. If healing is stigmatized and spurned, itâs not you whoâs wrong, itâs the world who is.â
Tears suddenly welled up in the princessâs eyes.
â¦
The surgery went smoothly.
There was new anesthesia in the first and kit and the princess reacted well to it.
She fell asleep during the surgery and when she woke up, she found herself in dry clothes, lying in the bedchamber.
âDoes it still hurt?â Gu Jiao asked.
The princess shook her head.
It was less painful.
âAfter the effects of the anesthesia wear off, the wound will start hurting; but it should be bearable.â Gu Jiao said, and then advised her on postoperative care.
The princess didnât have many friends in the Capital City because she didnât get along well with others, and most people didnât like her either.
But this maiden, she seemed not quite the same as most people she had met.
The princess weakly opened her mouth: âWhatâs your name?â
âGu Jiao.â
