Chapter 20

Grinch

Business Casual

SAM

Evie had officially just bombed dinner—destroyed it—pulverized it. Worse than the ground meat my mother used in her meatloaf…and yet I couldn’t grin any wider.

Carla sat dumbfounded, holding her glass before her chest awkwardly. At each end of the table, my parents looked like they weren’t sure what to think.

I knew they’d been hoping we could all be polite and act like family for the evening. But Carla had clearly had it coming, what with all the vitriol she was spewing.

After hearing everything Evie had said about me, I couldn’t shake the tingling in my spine as I replayed her words on a loop. I didn’t want to stop sleeping with Evie. Hell, after that, I was sure: I wanted more than just sex with Evie, and more than just a “fake” relationship.

Every stubborn hair on her head, each snappy little comeback, every flaw she possessed…I wanted it all, business casual be damned.

“Well…” Carla cleared her throat. “That was incredibly rude.”

I smiled, rising from my seat. “If you’ll all excuse me, I’m gonna go check on my woman.”

I strutted into the foyer feeling like a brand-new man, tossed on my coat and shoes, and slipped out onto the deck. Evie stood on the covered porch, gazing at the falling snow and Christmas lights with a melancholy expression.

Despite her sadness, she’d never looked more beautiful to me.

She spun as soon as she noticed me, flustered and loaded to the brim with regret. “Vázquez, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have—”

I captured her face, claiming her lips, and she kissed back. Red wine sweetly stained her skin, reminding me of the first kiss we’d shared in Finnigan’s the night we met.

Here I was, kissing the first and only woman I’d had true feelings for since my divorce. Even with my mouth on her, I was in utter disbelief.

Evie faintly moaned and balled her fists in my jacket. I couldn’t resist slipping her some tongue. She’d earned it after that little performance. Actually, she deserved a lot more than that.

I peeled my lips away, pressing my forehead against hers as we breathed together.

“Here’s what’s gonna happen,” I muttered. “We’re gonna go in there and say goodbye, and then I’m gonna take you back to my place, peel that tight little dress off your body, and fuck you so good you’ll be screaming my name for weeks.”

Evie smirked and asked, “Can you take me home first so I can grab a few things?”

“Anything you want,” I whispered.

After a quick goodbye, Evie and I jumped in my car and headed to her family’s house for her toothbrush and a change of clothes. Per my request, she also agreed to grab the little vibrating apparatus from her drawer.

Darkness filled the front seat; the only light to be seen was the glowing icons on the dash.

I tried hard to focus on driving, but Evie’s open-mouthed kisses on my ear and neck were shooting tingling thrills straight to my toes and spreading goosebumps along my skin while she palmed the bulge in my jeans.

She was making me want to pull this damn car to the side of the road and kiss her in the back seat. However, for the payback I had planned, I’d much rather have my full range of motion.

“You gotta stop, angel, or else you’ll be bringing me to heaven a little too soon,” I gasped out.

“Meaning I’m gonna make you cum or crash your car?” she asked with a chuckle.

I smiled at her cute little laugh. I didn’t know what had gotten into her tonight, but I was absolutely loving it.

“Both,” I said. “Put your seatbelt on, Evie. I’m serious.”

She ignored me and started tugging on my belt buckle.

“What’re you doing?” I asked.

“What?” She smirked. “Just because you’re driving doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun.”

~Well, I won’t say no to that.~

Unzipping metal sang between us. Evie pulled my hard-on from my boxers as I kept my eyes on the road. The warmth of her fingers wrapped around the base of my demanding cock, and she dropped from my peripheral vision.

My jaw fell open when the fever of her mouth, the wetness of her tongue, and her pillowy-smooth lips worked their way over the head and down the length of my shaft.

I couldn’t believe Evie was ~actually~ sucking me off in my fucking car as I drove. This was distracting and probably not a good idea, but she was so eager that I couldn’t bring myself to stop her.

I removed a hand from the wheel to grasp a gentle fistful of her hair as her pretty little head bobbed up and down in my lap.

“Damn, baby,” I groaned, attempting to keep an even pressure on the gas pedal.

Her sultry mouth suddenly slid from my dick, leaving my erection pulsing in her palm. I sighed at the torture.

“Why’d you call me that again?” she said.

“Call you what?” I asked, puzzled. “Baby?”

She nodded.

“Oh. I don’t know. It just slips out sometimes, I guess.”

“So you’re a fan of pet names?” she asked—more of a statement than a question.

~When it comes to you? Yeah. Big time.~

“I am,” I said, unapologetic. “I think it should be a new agreement that when we’re in the middle of sexual acts, pet names are required.”

“Mhm.” Evie cocked a skeptical brow. “Or else what?”

“Or else the said sexual acts don’t happen.”

Evie shrugged, clearly unconvinced I could hold up my end of that bargain. “Okay.” She released her grip, sitting back in her seat and leaving my arousal alone.

“Oh, you are mean,” I said, smiling.

She grinned, leaning over to press her lower lip against my ear and whisper, “Tell me where you want my mouth, baby.”

Yep. I’d never realized just how much I loved pet names until now. I could cum just hearing that word, “baby,” roll from her tongue. “I liked what you were doing before,” I said hoarsely.

Grinning like she’d won something, she dipped back down to resume her work.

After a couple more minutes of Evie’s phenomenal blow job, we arrived on her street, which forced us to behave ourselves. If I was going to walk her in to help her pack her overnight bag, I would need to lose this boner.

After parking, I gave myself a moment before we started fumbling toward the house, laughing like a couple of teenagers.

I hadn’t had this much fun with a woman in a long time, and I didn’t want to wish my night away, but some part of me did hope to speed up time to get her into my bed as soon as possible.

As we busted through the front door, I wrapped my arms around her from behind, planting a kiss on her ear, prompting a cute little snicker.

Saanvi suddenly rounded the corner from the living room, her face serious. “Evie, I’ve been trying to call you,” she growled, keeping her voice low. “Why haven’t you answered?”

“I turned my phone off at dinner,” Evie said.

I furrowed my brows. “What’s wrong?”

A man with spiked, chocolate-colored hair stepped toward us from the den. He was of a similar height and weight to me, which I only noticed because some part of me was instinctively evaluating which of us would win in a fight.

His piercing brown eyes didn’t even glance at me; all his focus was on Evie.

Who the fuck was this Grinch? And why was he staring at the fake girlfriend I was hoping to make my real one?

“Greg,” said Evie, sounding shocked.

~Her ex? Oh, shit.~

“Hey, Evie,” the man said, inserting his fingertips into the front pockets of his jeans. “Can we talk?”
