Prologue
Love's unexpected turns
The capital city buzzed with life, neon lights illuminating the streets as sleek cars zipped past ancient palaces. A strange mix of tradition and modernity, the kingdom of Celestine was a place where royals still held power but mingled with the chaos of the contemporary world.
Inside the grand glass-walled palace, Prince Nani sat cross-legged on a velvet couch, scowling at his reflection in a tablet screen. His perfectly styled hair and angelic face didnât match the irritation simmering beneath.
âThis is absurd,â Nani huffed, throwing the tablet onto the coffee table. âI donât need a babysitter!â
His personal secretary, Mira, cleared her throat. âYour Highness, itâs not a babysitter. Itâs a bodyguard. Considering the recent threatsââ
âItâs *always* about the threats!â Nani snapped, arms crossed like a petulant child. âNo oneâs going to harm me. This is just an overreaction from Father.â
âHe insists,â Mira said, unfazed by his tantrum. âAnd so, Sky will be joining your security detail starting tomorrow.â
âSky?â Nani raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite himself. âWhat kind of name is that for a bodyguard? Sounds like a puppy.â
Mira smiled thinly, trying to hide her amusement. âYouâll find out soon enough.â

The next morning, Naniâs curiosity turned to outright disbelief as he laid eyes on Sky for the first time.
The bodyguard was tall, broad-shouldered, and undeniably handsomeâhis tousled black hair and boyish grin giving him an effortless charm. But then he tripped over the entrance rug, almost crashing into the ornate vase near the door.
âWoah! Close one!â Sky straightened, laughing nervously as he caught the vase just in time. âThat couldâve been bad.â
Nani pinched the bridge of his nose. â*This* is my new bodyguard?â
Sky beamed, as if Naniâs words were a compliment. âYup! Sky at your service. I promise to protect you with my life, Your Highness.â
âProtect me?â Naniâs lips twitched into an incredulous smirk. âYou can barely protect yourself from a rug.â
Sky flushed but didnât lose his grin. âHey, everyoneâs got their quirks. Besides, Iâm great in high-pressure situations.â
âHigh-pressure? You mean like walking and not falling?â
Sky chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. âYouâre funny. I like you.â
Nani blinked, thrown off by the earnest reply. âThis isnât a game, you know. You canât just âlikeâ a prince.â
âWhy not?â Sky shrugged. âWeâre gonna be spending a lot of time together. Might as well be friends.â
Nani rolled his eyes. âFriends? You donât even know me.â
âThen Iâll learn.â Sky leaned forward, his smile turning softer, more sincere. âThatâs kind of my job, right? To understand what makes you feel safe.â
For a moment, Nani didnât know how to respond. Skyâs words carried an unexpected warmth that made the princeâs heart skip a beat. But instead of acknowledging it, Nani scoffed and turned away.
âJust donât get in my way,â he muttered, trying to hide his flustered cheeks.
Skyâs grin widened. âDeal.â
And so, the stage was set. A stubborn prince with a soft heart and a clumsy bodyguard with a puppy-like determinationâboth unaware that their story was just beginning.
