"Please bring me the documents of our Paris site. I'll approve the floor plans and once I'm done, send it to the head designer." Mahira said to her assistant as she disconnected the call from the Paris client.
"Right away ma'am." She said and noted it down in her phone.
"Oh and also don't disturb me unless it's absolutely necessary." Mahira said and her assistant nodded and left her cabin.
Her phone rang as she took a sip of water from her glass. Reading her father's name on the screen, she picked it up.
"Good morning dad. How're you?" Mahira spoke into the phone.
"Good morning. All good. How's my little Riana doing?" Her father asked about his granddaughter.
"Riana is doing great." Mahira informed as a smile graced her face at the mention of her daughter.
Her and Rudransh have a one-year-young daughter, Raina Rajvanshi.
"Can you FaceTime me right now? We want to see her." Her father asked.
"I would've dad but I'm not at home right now." Mahira replied sheepishly.
"Not at home? Where are you then?" He counter questioned.
"At my office." Mahira said.
"Mahira Rajvanshi are you actually working on your daughter's first birthday? How can you?" Her father scolded her.
"We had a birthday breakfast and she is currently with Rudransh. I had some things that needed to be finalised today itself otherwise I wouldn't have left my daughter at all." Mahira tried explaining.
Her and Rudransh are very dedicated towards their daughter. They don't depend on nannies and househelps for her upbringing. They divide their time between office and home to spend as much time with little Raina as possible. If both of them are stuck at the office, their family members are more than happy to look after her, especially Avantika.
Raina is the apple of their eyes. She's the first daughter of the house and hence she was loved to a fault. Everyone couldn't get enough of her at all. All of their lives now circled around the little girl and she has all of them wrapped around her little finger. Rudransh's siblings play games with her all the time. Avantika takes her to temple with her and also send a lot of time with her in their garden. Mahira and Rudransh want to inculcate good manners, discipline and gratitude for all that she has from day one itself.
"Your mother and I are extremely sorry we couldn't be there for her first birthday tonight." Her father apologised. Mahira's parents were out of country overlooking the expansion of their family brand.
"It's fine dad. You'll just have to celebrate with her again once you guys are back in town." Mahira said.
"We promise. Although I already have sent our gift to my littlest daughter at the Rajvanshi mansion. Do give it to her and send me lots of pictures of the party tonight." Her father said.
"Will do, dad. For now, enjoy and send me lots of pictures of you and mom. Bye, Love you." Mahira said.
"Done. Love you too." Her father said and disconnected the call.
Mahira busied herself with her work until she heard a knock on her door at around 1.
"Come in." She said without looking up from her papers.
"Hey." She heard her husband's voice and finally looked up.
There he was, in a three-piece suit with perfectly kept hair and an expensive watch on his wrist, looking every bit as handsome as he was 3 years ago when they met.
But he wasn't standing there alone. He carried their daughter in his arms. Who was dressed in a cute pink dress with matching shoes and her hair tied in two little ponytails. Her dark brown eyes were curiously looking around her office.
"My baby." Mahira said and walked towards Rudransh who shifted his daughter's weight on his left hand and extended his right one for his wife.
He gave her a smile which soon dropped since Mahira complete ignored his presence. She took Raina in her arms and immediately kissed her cute chubby cheeks giving her a big smile.
"Mai ghar jaa raha hu." Rudransh dramatically announced with scrunched eyebrows. He was seconds away from folding his arms against his chest and pouting at being ignored by his wife.
I'm going home.
"Aww my baby." Mahira said as she pulled Rudransh's cheek and placed a sweet kiss there.
Rudransh swatted her hand away and gave her a chaste kiss on her lips.
"It's 1 now. I hope you're done with your work." Rudransh said as he pointed at her desk.
"Almost. I was about to leave in 10 minutes but wait, why're you here?" Mahira asked.
"What? I cannot visit my wife at work?" Rudransh asked.
"You can but I thought you were overlooking the preparations for the party tonight." Mahira asked.
"I got bored with it so I asked Ayaan to do it instead." Rudransh replied.
"Ansh why? You could've asked Aish or Maa instead, why Ayaan." Mahira said with furrowed eyebrows.
"Itna bura nahi hai woh. Sambhal lega sab, chill." Rudransh said.
He isn't that bad. He'll handle things, chill.
"Chill? How can I chill? Yaad nahi maa k party mei last time kya kiya tha ussne?" Mahira said giving her husband a look of disbelief.
Don't you remember what did he do at mom's last party?
"Kya kiya tha?" He asked.
What did he do?
"Woh pineapple cake le kar aa gaya tha. Maa is severely allergic to pineapple. Kya yaar Rudransh! Ek chota sa to kaam diya tha." Mahira said.
He brought a pineapple flavoured cake. Mom is severely allergic to pineapple. Man, Rudransh! You just had a small job to do.
"Mai Aish ko call kar ke bol deta hu k uske saath rahe. Simple." He said and pulled out his phone, calling his sister.
I'll call Aish and ask her to be with him.
Once he spoke to Aishwarya on the phone, he looked at Mahira with a smile and gave her a thumbs up.
"Now let's have lunch. Maa ne specially pack karke diya hai tumhare liye." Rudransh said as he pointed at the bag he had placed on the couch earlier.
Maa has packed this especially for you.
"She really does love me more." Mahira mumbled but her husband heard her nonetheless. He rolled his eyes at her comment and took their daughter from her hand, sitting on the couch.

.
"Abhi tak taiyaar nahi hue tum dono?" Avantika scolded her two sons.
You guys aren't ready yet?
"Bas 10 minute mai change karlenge. Yun gaye aur yun aye." Ayaan replied.
We'll get ready in just 10 minutes. We'll be back before you know it.
It was 6 in the evening and the guests had started walking in at the Rajvanshi Mansion. It was a big party, hosted by Rudransh and Mahira to celebrate the first birthday of their princess, Raina. Everyone from their family and important people from their business circle were present there.
"Guest aana shuru ho gaye hai. Jao, abhi." Avantika said in her parent voice and both the boys couldn't help but nod. They hurriedly went to their rooms to get dressed.
The guests have started to arrive. Go, now.
Rudransh walked into their room to see an already dressed Mahira, brushing their daughter's hair. His wife was standing in front of the vanity, with her back towards him while his daughter was sitting on it, looking at her reflection in the mirror.
He secretly clicked a picture of them and made it his wallpaper.
"My beautiful girls." He said as he walked towards them and dropped a kiss on both their foreheads. He wrapped his hands around his wife's waist as she continued doing their daughter's hair.
"You're looking so beautiful." He said as he dropped a kiss on her neck.
"Wish I could say the same for you. Get dressed, Ansh. Guests must be here." Mahira said as she shrugged her shoulder, in an attempt to push him away.
"Yeah yeah okay." He said and walked towards their walk-in closet.
Mahira kissed her daughter as she was down making her hair. She walked outside with her in her arms and descended downstairs.
Mingling with the guests and welcoming them, the Rajvanshis didn't realise when it was 8 pm already. It was time to cut the cake.
"Come on, Raina." Aishwarya handed her to her mother as she stood in front of the table.
Ayaan placed the cake on it and as soon as he took the lid away, he earned a slap on his shoulder from his sister-in-law.
"This is exactly why I don't trust you when it comes to overlooking the arrangements." Mahira said.
"Tu bilkul gadha hai." Rudransh said.
You're such an idiot.
"Use kya bol rahe ho. Tumhe kya problem thi ye kaam khud karne mai?" Mahira scolded her husband in a hushed voice.
Why are you scolding him? Why didn't you do this by yourself?
"Ayaan tujhse ek kaam theek se nahi hota." Avantika too scolded her younger son.
Ayaan you cannot do anything right.
The cake that he brought was blue when they specifically asked for a pink one. Raina likes the colour pink. She chooses things that are of the colour and hence they wanted her cake to be pink.
"Guys, dekho." Aishwarya called everyone and drew their attention towards the birthday girl.
See.
Raina was trying to reach the cake with a toothy grin on her face.
"She has been fascinated by blue colour as well these days. I noticed it many times since last month." Aishwarya said and Mahira heaved a sigh.
"Thank God mai bach gaya." Ayaan mumbled and received a glare from both Rudransh and Mahira.
Thank God I'm off the hook.
"Let's cut the cake." Ayaan said and pointed towards it.
"Happy birthday to you." Everyone sang the song as Mahira and Rudransh cut the cake with their daughter. After they fed the cake to each other, Avantika announced it was time for the gifts.
Ayaan gifted her a pair of Nike sneakers that had her initials on it. Aishwarya gave her the largest set of Barbie house. Mahira's parents gifted her a pair of diamond earrings. Avantika gifted her a gold bracelet. Rudransh gifted her a land of property they had recently bought.
"Wow bhai. Raina is just one and now she's the owner of a land." Aishwarya said and kissed her niece's cheek.
"Nothing but the best for her." Rudransh said as he looked at his daughter in his arms.
"Bhabhi ab bas aap baki hai. Kya de rahi hai apni laadli ko?" Ayaan asked.
Sister-in-law, you're the only one left now. What are you going to gift your beloved daughter?
Mahira gave him a smile and kept a small box on the table. She opened it and a gasp left Aishwarya's mouth.
"She is the next owner of this. The Rajvanshi pocket watch." Mahira said as she revealed the pocket watch.
"Ye iske dada ka isse ashirwad hai." Avantika said as she caressed her granddaughter's head, with tearful eyes.
It's her grandfather's blessing for her.
Smiling down at her, Rudransh gave a hug to Mahira and kissed her forehead.
"I was wrong all those years ago. Nayaab ye watch nahi, Nayaab tum ho." Rudransh said to his wife.
This watch isn't really rare, you are.
"I love you." He whispered in her ears.
"I love you too." She mumbled with a smile on her face.
