"Ma'am there's someone here to see you. I wouldn't have disturbed you but I'm afraid it's urgent." Mahira's assistant said as she peeked in her office.
"I'm not taking visitors right now. I'm in the middle of something important." She replied not even looking up from the documents she was referring to.
Mahira Dalal was the sole heir to her father's multimillion fortune and his thriving jewellery empire. Not to be mistaken for a daddy's princess, she is a responsible and successful businesswoman. At the mere age of 28, she has not only expanded her father's empire beyond the borders but also has earned herself a position in Forbes 30-under-30 list. She has worked nonstop for the past 3 years to take care of the family legacy and prove her worth.
She was a no-nonsense, serious and ruthless woman who's sole focus was her thriving empire.
"Ma'am I'm sorry but I cannot deny him." Mahira's assistant said which made her look up at her face with annoyance clear on her face.
"Who is it?" She questioned but knew who he was deep down.
"Mr. Rudransh Rajvanshi from Rajvanshi group of companies." As soon as the name left her assistant's mouth, she saw the door being pushed wide open and the man whose name was just dropped, walked in.
Tall frame, 6'1, broad shoulders, sharp jaw and a five o' clock shadow. He was sharply dressed in a three-piece suit with perfectly polished shoes and well set hair. He was no less than perfection. Not just in terms of his looks, the man seemed to have everything else in life as well. A successful business empire with multiple companies under it and him being the rightful owner of them all. Power, fame and money was all that his aura was composed of.
"Good morning, Ms. Dalal." He said with a smirk as he stood in front of her desk.
She didn't bother to stand upon his arrival, let alone return his greeting.
Truth be told, she was extremely annoyed by him these days. She hated being nagged about anything and this man was hell bent of doing the very same thing. She knew all too well what this unannounced visit of him was regarding.
"You haven't learned any manners since our last meeting I see." Rudransh said as he calmly put his hands inside his pockets.
"You may leave. Thank you." Mahira said to her assistant who nodded and left the room to them.
She then turned her attention towards the man standing in front of her and looked him in the eyes. She mentally sighed and pointed towards the empty chair in front of her.
"Seeing as our last meeting was yesterday, pardon me if I haven't exactly got my tolerance towards you back." Mahira said, keeping her tone calm and professional.
"Ahh, I see." Rudransh said and kept his hands on the table in between them.
"To what do I owe the pleasure of your unannounced visit, Mr. Rajvanshi?" Mahira very well knew the purpose of his visit but she simply wanted to play ignorant.
"Itni kam umr mei yadash kharab hona achi baat nahi hoti, Ms. Dalal." Rudransh replied with scrunched eyebrows.
It is not a good thing to have such weak memory at such a young ago, Ms. Dalal.
"Mujhe pata nahi tha aap meri itni chinta karte hai, Mr. Rajvanshi." She said and leaned back on her seat.
I had no idea you were so concerned about me, Mr. Rajvanshi.
"Aap," Rudransh was about to give her a befitting reply but she cut him off before that.
You,
"Mere paas faltu baaton ka time nahi hai. Aapko mujhse koi kaam ho to bata dijeye." Mahira said.
I don't have any time to waste. Let me know what this visit is regarding.
A smirk formed on Rudransh's lips. No one ever dared to cut him off and here she is. Fearlessly insulting him, with not a care in the world about the consequences. It was impressive how she held her ground in front of someone so much more powerful than herself.
"Meri pocket watch." Rudransh said and saw a cold smile form on Mahira's face.
My pocket watch.
"Aapka matlab hai, meri pocket watch." She said emphasising 'meri'.
You mean, my pocket watch.
"Woh pocket watch Rajvanshi khandaan ki amanat hai. Nayaab hai wo watch. Mai sirf aapko wo watch lautane ko keh raha hu." Rudransh said poorly controlling his anger. He has to have that watch back at any cost.
That pocket watch belongs to the Rajvanshi family. That watch is rare. I'm just asking you to return it.
"Ye baat uss watch ko donate karne se pehle soch ni chahiye thi. Maine usse 10 crore mei jeeta hai. Woh meri hai ab." Mahira said and folded her hands against her chest.
Should've thought about it before donating it to the museum for the auction. I've bought it for 10 crores and it belongs to me now.
"Fuck, Ayaan!" Rudransh muttered under his breath with gritted teeth, cursing his younger brother. He said it so low that she failed in hearing it.
A priceless family heirloom of Rajvanshis, that pocket watch belong to Rudransh's great great grandfather. It was of the utmost importance to the family and his younger brother Ayaan Rajvanshi, ended up putting it with the other items that the family was to donate to the museum for auctioning. It was two days after the watch was already bought by Mahira that they discovered what a blunder Ayaan had made.
Yesterday Rudransh met Mahira for a formal lunch, demanding the watch back which she obviously denied.
You see the watch had an exquisite rare diamond engraved on the face of it and Mahira fell in love with it the instance she saw it. She was an expect of diamonds given her line of profession and it didn't take her a minute to understand how old and uncommon the jewel was. Although the base price of the watch was 7 crores she offered 10, ensuring it went to her. There was no way in hell she was giving it back to the Rajvanshis.
Rudransh's late father handed him the responsibility of passing the pocket watch down to his heir when he felt the time was right. It was beyond necessary for him to get it back. Her mother insisted on the watch to be bought back under the name of Rajvanshis before her husband's death anniversary which was in two weeks.
"Ms. Dalal, I am ready to pay you twice the amount in return of the watch." Rudransh tried negotiating. It did not matter what amount she would've demanded, he would've signed the check the very next moment.
"I think you've forgotten who you're talking to Mr. Rajvanshi." Mahira arrogantly said with a smile.
"I'm the President of Luxe Luster. I do not need money." She continued. Her company, Luxe Luster was the leading jewellery line all over Asia, while giving strong competition to overseas brands in the international market as well.
"Then what is it that you want?" Rudransh asked in irritation. Mahira wasn't budging from her decision at all.
"For now, I'd very much like you to leave. I have tons of paperwork pending." She said and pointed towards the pile of papers on her desk.
"Regarding the pocket watch." Rudransh said with gritted teeth.
"Oh that, I'm not giving it back to you." She said and offered him a smile.
"That you will. If not now, then in the near future. I am going to take that rightfully back." Rudransh said, pissing off Mahira.
She cussed him under her breath and got up from her chair. She walked to the door of her office and held it open for him. As she turned her around, she saw him walking towards her.
He approached her and raise a hand. She cocked up an eyebrow at his action but the next thing she knew was he had shut the door behind her with a thud.
He kept a hand across her stomach and lightly nudged her towards the door. Her back met with the thing and she scrunched her eyebrows in irritation.
"What do you think you're doing?" She questioned.
"Shh." He said as he covered her body with his, coming incredibly close to her. Not even air could've passed from between them. He looked her in the eyes and tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.
She swatted her hand away from her mouth in irritation but also cursed herself for liking the man's touch.
"How dare you touch me, Rudransh Rajvanshi." She shouted at him in anger.
He smirked as he looked down at her lips before looking back up in her eyes. He lightly grabbed her neck and applied gentle pressure on the sides.
"I love how fearless you are in front of me. Tell me, Mahira Dalal, do you even care who you're talking to. Do you have even the slightest idea of what might become of you if you piss me off beyond my tolerance." Rudransh asked, his voice turning husky, giving chills to Mahira.
She grabbed the lapels of his coat and pulled him even closer. Their breaths were mingling, their bodies completely touching each other as both of them were currently invading each other's personal space. The strong smell of his manly perfume had her brain fogging up impure thoughts about him.
"Listen to me once and for all, I. Don't. Care." She said with gritted teeth.
"And boy do I love that." Rudransh said as he removed his other hand from the door and snaked it around her slim waist, pulling her even closer. Their noses were almost touching and their lips mere centimetres apart.
In response, Mahira kept both her hands on his chest and tried pushing him away. Keyword being tried.
The man was completely made of muscle. He did not even budge from his place instead flashed her a smirk.
"Listen to me once and for all, I will take that pocket watch back, by hook or by crook. Rok sako to rok lo." Rudransh said as he glided his pointer finger from her forehead down to her neck until she again slapped his hand away.
Stop me if you can.
"Mai tumse darti nahi. Mai tumhe wo watch kisi bhi kemat par nahi dungi. Mai bhi dekhti hu tum kya kar loge." She said as she once again grabbed both his lapels and jerked his body away from hers. This time she was successful in putting some space between them.
I'm not afraid of you. I won't give the watch to you at any cost. Let's see what you'll do about it.
"Get out!" She almost screamed as she once again opened the door and this time saw him nod.
He buttoned his coat button and looked her in the eyes.
"Jald hi milenge." He said as he softly caressed her cheek with the back of his head. The rough skin of his knuckles brushed against the soft skin of her face.
We'll meet soon.
"Bhaad mei jao." She said, stepping back and breaking their contact.
Go to hell.
He chuckled at her response and walked out of the room.
She closed the door and stood against it with her eyes closed. She hated how her heart beat raced at his closeness or how annoyingly good it felt to be in his arms.
She let out a grunt at her thoughts and then giving herself a disappointed head shake, walked towards her desk to resume her work.
