Chapter 483 - 483 THE DOUBT
Tangled By Fate
483 THE DOUBT
âI found something better.â
Veronica became curious. âWhat could that be?â
Urulas took out some scrolls from his large sleeve and handed them over to her.
Veronica grabbed them without a word and opened them one by one.
After learning the ancient language, she read many scrolls from the Rosemary Temple.
Even in the Magic Tower, there were forbidden books in the ancient language. She read them whenever she had a chance so that she wouldnât forget the language.
Due to her regular study, she was able to read what was written in the scrolls. After reading a few lines, her eyes widened. It was visible how surprised she was.
âThis isâ¦â she took a sharp breath.
âAs you can see, these are forbidden knowledge that should only be known by the blessed child. Even a mere saint canât have this knowledge,â Urulas explained.
.....
âDidnât you say you got them from the Rosemary Temple?â Veronica asked.
âYes, I did,â Urulas answered.
âThen⦠these scrolls were with Saint Ava all this time⦠but why would she keep them with her?â Veronica wondered.
âAccording to the law of the temple, as soon as the blessed child enters the Rosemary Temple, the Saint is supposed to hand over all the knowledge and authority that belongs to the blessed child,â Urulas commented.
âHuh? But that didnât happen to me.â Veronica was confused.
She recalled how Saint Ava made her work day and night. She barely had time to rest.
âSince she didnât hand over the knowledge and the authority, doesnât that mean she is plotting something? I donât trust her,â Urulas stated in his mind.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âSaint Avaâ¦â Veronica muttered her name.
She recalled what happened after she was poisoned. She was with Saint Ava.
She didnât find any hatred in Saint Ava toward her. In her eyes, the Saint was always level-headed.
To her, the Saint knew more than anyone knew but she hid her knowledge from others.
A person who always hid their intentions and thoughts, she didnât know what kind of person they would be.
She looked at Urulas and said, âI canât decide yet what kind of person she is. She must have her reason. I need to talk to her.â
âYou trust her?â Urulas stared at her.
It wasnât a question but more like a statement but it sounded more like a question.
âI donât want to mistrust her and then regret it afterward. After all, she wanted me to choose a path I truly wanted,â Veronica replied.
âFrom what I see, she only did it so that she could have all the authority for herself. You may not like power but others arenât the same as you.â
âPower canât give people happiness.â
Urulas said, âIt canât but humans are obsessed with power because it lets them control weaker people.
âThey love controlling things that donât belong to them. Thatâs why they need you. You have to take care of the mess they create.â
Veronica frowned. She didnât like when strong people took advantage of their power to control the weak but she had no intention to be recognized as the blessed child.
âSaint Ava knows things that I donât. Itâs more than what these scrolls have written. Without talking to her, I wonât know why she wanted me to choose the path I wanted.â
She had more questions.
Why Saint Ava didnât want her to get close to the magicians and why she didnât want her to fall in love or have children.
Urulas noticed that Veronica was serious. He didnât push his opinion on her any further.
He asked, âDo you want to meet her soon? You have yet to recover.â
âIâll meet her after I meet Arthur. I need to see him first. I need to tell him that Iâm alive.â
âYou donât have to do that. I think the guy named Ironin already went to talk to the second head of this place. They will notify Arthur soon.â
âAh, I wanted to surprise him with my presence first. Let me talk to Ovior.â
At her urge, Urulas helped her to stand on her feet. She was trembling at first as she was resting in bed for too long. Soon, she gained enough strength to move.
Using the magical stone Arthur left, she teleported to Oviorâs room
Ironin just arrived there to let Ovior know about Veronica when she popped into the room.
Ovior was visibly startled. He abruptly stood up and looked at Veronica in shock.
Ironin froze for a second and then announced, âVeronica woke up a few minutes ago.â
Veronica looked at Ovior and said, âOvior, Iâm sorry for making you worry. Iâll talk to Arthur and ask him to stop the war.â
Ovior was in a trance but soon recovered. âYou canât stop him⦠I mean you are alive! That bloody flower actually worked.â
âWhat bloody flower?â Veronica was curious.
Ironin mentioned, âA flower the elves brought to heal you.â
Veronica said, âOh, that one. But the war, we need to stop it. There is no need for war anymore as Iâm alive. I donât want innocent people to die for my sake.â
âYou canât stop the war,â Ovior stated while sitting down.
âWhat? Why canât I do that?â
Ovior explained, âThe war started thanks to you but this war can eliminate all the witches from the world. Itâs good for us. Thatâs why I didnât stop Arthur when he declared war.â
However, Veronica couldnât be as relaxed as him. âBut the innocent peopleâ¦â
âRelax, the war is happening in the desert, outside Tybu,â Ovior eased her worry. âYou have been there before for war.â
She could never forget that desert. She was able to meet Arthur there again and then their love bloomed there.
âDesert? But I thought there was no desert anymore.â
Veronica remembered how she used her power in the desert and revived the wildlife.
Ovior understood her chain of thoughts and stated, âAlthough you revived half of the desert, some parts are still left out. The war is happening there.
âThat means there are no civilians getting hurt in this.â Veronica sighed in relief. âBut I still want to let Arthur know Iâm alive. I want to meet him.â
Ovior didnât have any problem with that. âI can help you to teleport there.â
âShe shouldnât go there alone,â Ironin stated.
