Chapter 478 - 478 THE ARRIVAL
Tangled By Fate
478 THE ARRIVAL
âA couple of men? Who?â
Ovior, Zinnia, Felix and Darius went to the front gate.
They saw three men.
Their bodies were covered with black cloaks and black hoods. Their faces couldnât be seen.
The men saw them and the person in the middle demanded, âWe are here to meet Veronica.â
His voice had a hint of hostility.
Ovior knitted his eyebrows. âAnd who are you and why will we allow you to meet her?â
The man in the middle revealed his face and so did his companions.
They had light golden blonde hair, shining in the sunlight. Those tall men had unusually pointy ears.
.....
Their skin was pale and they didnât look like ordinary people.
âThey are elves!â Ovior widened his eyes in surprise.
He and the others immediately became alert.
The man in the middle said, âVeronica was supposed to meet us yesterday but she didnât.
âWe thought she would come today but she didnât. We want to know if she is alive and well.â
âWe never heard of her meeting with elves. She didnât mention anything about you,â Zinnia coldly retorted. âYou are lying.â
âIf you have any bad intentions, then you wonât be able to leave this place alive,â Felix threatened them.
âBad intention?â The elf in the middle chuckled. âIf anyone has a bad intention that should be you, the Magic Tower. You are the one who wants to hurt Veronica.â
His anger and unfriendly attitude was so vivid that Darius was ready to attack.
âWho dares to mention my wifeâs name?â
A chilling voice was heard. Arthur teleported to the gate and gave the elves a vicious glare.
âWhat do elves want with my wife?â he asked again.
âWife?!â
The elves were stunned. They exchanged glances. Their looks said that they didnât believe Arthur.
The elves scanned Arthur from top to bottom. They could sense the huge source of mana inside the manâs body.
âThis is the Master of the Magic Tower,â the elf in the middle muttered.
The other two elves gasped. They started talking among themselves.
The elf on the left whispered, âAre you sure itâs the Master of the Magic Tower?â
âHis aura and the amount of mana he has in his body, there is no way I can be wrong,â the elf in the middle replied.
âDoes that mean Veronica is married to the Master of the Magic Tower?â the elf on the right asked.
The elf in the middle mentioned, âWe canât say for sure. It was unusual for her to live in the Magic Tower in the first place.
âShe always avoided talking about her reason for staying here in the Magic Tower even though I warned her. She said that she trusted the people here.â
âTrue,â the left one agreed. âWhy would she trust them so much unless she was a family to them? But what aboutâ¦â
âWe donât have time to worry about that. letâs find out Veronica first,â the middle one said.
While they were whispering to each other, Darius asked in a low tone, âHow come Veronica knows elves and we have no clue about it?â
âMaybe she doesnât trust us enough to share all her information,â Zinnia shrugged.
âI donât think so. We all have our little secrets,â Felix stated.
âI guess Arthur knew about it. Didnât you?â Ovior looked at Arthur.
Arthurâs golden eyes glowed coldly.
âI didnât know,â he told his friend in a low tone.
His voice sent chills down their spines.
Darius let out a dry laugh to lighten up the atmosphere.
He said, âMaybe she wanted to but forgot. Donât forget the amount of work she did every day including her lessons.â
He wasnât sure if his tactic was of any help because no one was talking. Everyoneâs eyes were fixed on Arthur.
Before Arthur could say anything, the elves turned to face them.
The elf in the middle said, âIâm Urulas, the second prince of the Elvish realm.
âMy soldiers and I sworn our alliance to Veronica who is the blessed child of the earth.â
âAnd should we believe you?â Arthur demanded.
âWe donât care whether you believe us or not,â Urulas replied. âWe are here to meet Veronica. Let us meet her.â
âHow did you meet her?â Ovior calmly questioned them.
Urulas didnât answer him. He looked at Arthur and asked back, âHow long have the two of you been married?â
ââ¦â Arthur quietly stared at him. His face darkened further.
Seeing that Arthur didnât answer, Felix answered, ââ¦Two years.â
Urulas chuckled. His eyes were filled with ridicule.
He said, âThen, you married her before her kidnapping. What kind of man are you? You cannot protect your wife.
âIt looks like you married her for her power. Her life means nothing to you.â
Arthur scowled at him. His knuckles turned white as he tightened his fists.
âHe hasnât slept three days and heâs boiling in anger. He will burn everything if this continues,â Ovior thought.
He wasnât the only one, others were worried about the same thing.
âIt was our mistake that we couldnât protect her,â Ovior quickly said. âSo, you ended up rescuing her?â
Urulas stated, âWe didnât rescue her. She was found unconscious near a village.
âThe village elves helped her recover. Since then, we have been helping her to train just as she wanted.â
âNow I know why she is so good with bows and arrows,â Zinnia said.
âPrecisely,â Urulas agreed. âNow, we would like to meet her. She gave us some tasks and we need to talk to her about them. Itâs urgent.â
âIâm afraid you canât,â Ovior said.
Urulas frowned. âWhat do you mean?â
âShe was poisoned,â Zinnia stated. âIt has been three days and she hasnât recovered yet.â
Urulasâ heart dropped. âTell me everything.â
By the time they reached Arthur and Veronicaâs bedroom, Ovior gave the elves a short brief about what happened.
After listening to everything, Urulas clenched his jaw.
His heart ached uncontrollably when he noticed the almost-dead Veronica.
It didnât look like she would recover soon.
He scornfully looked at Arthur.
âI heard that you were the most powerful man on earth. I guess I was wrong. What can your power do when you canât protect your beloved.â
As he said that, Arthur lowered his head without a word as if he was accepting that fact.
His behavior momentarily stunned the rest of the people.
Urulas wanted to curse him but he cooled off his head.
âI mustnât lose control. I need to find a way to cure Veronica,â he thought.
All of a sudden, an idea popped into his head.
He glanced at Ovior and said, âI think I can help.â
.....
