Chapter 459
Tangled By Fate
When Ovior took them to another place, Veronica was shocked.
Some of Duke De la Poleâs henchmen gathered in the village. They started asking for taxes.
âWhere the heck is tax? Do you think we have enough time to stay here? This place is such a dirty place. I want to puke. Hurry up and get me the money.â
One of the henchmen ordered the villagers.
The villagers gathered but they didnât dare to make a sound. They kept their heads low.
The village head came forward. He was an old man around eighty years old.
He stood in front of the henchmen and said, âThe news was sudden. We didnât have enough time to prepare. Please give us more time.â
.....
âThat wonât do. Do you think our Duke has time for your bullshit? You have to pay back right now or you must be punished.â
The henchman didnât take ânoâ for an answer.
âPlease, we have our families to feed.â
The old man wasnât someone who would beg but he tried to be as humble as possible.
âIf you canât pay money, you better pay with your life.â
As soon as the henchman said that, he kicked the village headâs chest.
The old man was tough but not strong enough to take a burly manâs kick.
He was thrown away. The kick was too much for his old body. He couldnât take it. He coughed blood.
âElder!â
The villagers screamed in terror.
One of them came forward to help him but he was kicked away and then with a single stroke, his back was sliced open.
âAhh!â
The man shouted in agony but his scream was drowned by the screams of the villagers.
Veronica shuddered as she witnessed the scene.
The manâs wife rushed forward and embraced her husband who was covered in blood.
âHoney! Honey! Please talk to me!â she wailed and called for him.
The man was coughing blood. He couldnât talk. His dimmed eyes stared at his wife. Tears rolled down his left eye.
While the villagersâ hearts broke seeing the newly wedded couple in misery, the henchmen seemed to enjoy the show.
âHey, look at the woman. She is quite a beauty. Shall we have some fun with her?â one of them asked his fellows.
âWhy not? Letâs have some fun while we are working. The Duke didnât say we canât have fun,â one of them approved.
The henchman who sliced the womanâs husband stepped forward and grabbed the womanâs arm.
âBeauty, why bother with a dead man? Play with us!â he said with a grin.
The woman noticed that he felt no remorse for killing her husband. She glared at him with hatred and spat on his face.
The henchmen laughed hard watching the scene.
âIsnât she a feisty girl?â
âI love feisty girls.â
The henchman who grabbed the womanâs arm couldnât laugh like his fellows.
âI like feisty girls too but donât like them spitting on my face,â saying that he wiped his face and slapped the woman hard.
Then, he said, âThatâs what you get spitting on my face. Now Iâll show you what you get by messing with me.â
After that, he tore the womanâs dress. The woman shouted and called for help but no one dared to step forward
The henchman was trying to spread her legs when he suddenly felt a gust of wind passing his back.
Before he could react, his two arms were sliced off.
The blood sprayed on the woman.
The sudden turn of events stunned the woman. She stopped moving. She didnât dare to make a sound.
Instead, the man who was trying to rape her cried out in pain.
He forgot about the woman and stood up hastily.
âAhh! My hands!!!â he cried pitifully.
His fellow henchmen were astounded by this incident.
They were looking at the woman who was about to be raped. They didnât notice the attackers.
âWho? Who did this?â
The henchmen looked around cautiously.
âAre you looking for me?â
A cold voice asked, sending chills down their spines.
They instantly turned around and saw a skinny woman with a bloody sword. She had fair skin. Her red hair was like fire. Her emerald green eyes were like jewels.
Veronica coldly stared at them.
âYou have picked up the wrong place to mess up,â she said.
Ovior, Ironin and Sebastian dumbly stared at her. Never in a million years did they think Veronica would bloody her hand.
Not only did she draw her sword but also, she sliced off a manâs hands. She didnât show an ounce of hesitance.
And then, her emerald eyes, which always showered love and kindness, looked at the henchmen void of emotion.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
It was like she was ready to kill them all.
Her movement was swift, light and yet strong.
A normal warrior wouldnât be a match for her strength.
No matter how long she practiced swordsmanship, her skills werenât something that could be easily obtained just from training.
And the way she sliced a personâs hand without hesitation, it didnât look like it was her first time.
Ovior, Sebastian and Ironin held their breath.
While one henchman rolled in the mud with his bloody hands, the other three henchmen stared at Veronica.
If it was another time, they would lust after her body. However, they couldnât do it right now. Terror and anger filled their hearts.
One of them gritted his teeth. âYou bitch! Do you know who we are? How dare you!â
He drew his sword and then rushed forward. âIâll kill you bitch!â
He strike his sword and with a âclangâ metal sound, his sword was blocked by Veronicaâs sword.
âIf you want money, you should have done that. You shouldnât have harassed innocent people,â Veronica told him.
The henchman sneered. âSo what will you do if we do whatever we want? What can you do?â
Veronica narrowed her eyes.
âI can take your arms and legs and leave the rest to the villagers. What can you do without your arms?â
