Chapter 433
Tangled By Fate
âWhat? Are you going to apologize?â Catherine crossed her arms. âYou cannot just cheat on me and then tell others that I cheated on you, Vincent. You have to pay for your crime.â
Vincent opened his mouth but before saying anything, he looked around.
The guests were genuinely surprised but more than being surprised, they were offended by Vincent and his motherâs lowly act.
âEverything is gone. I didnât think the ending would be like this. If I knew... if I just knew...â Vincent couldnât think anymore.
He regretted it. He regretted letting Catherine go. He regretted cheating on her.
He regretted touching Betty. He regretted making her pregnant.
Even if he wanted to blame him for his stupidity, it was too late.
.....
Even if he tried to turn around what he had done, it was too late.
Nothing could be reversed.
Whatever damage was done, was done.
There was no going back.
He looked at Catherine, the beautiful fiancée he had a few weeks ago.
She was his dream girl.
The moment he saw her for the first time, he knew he had to have her.
And he was the one who ruined everything by sleeping with Betty.
He couldnât point his fingers at anyone anymore.
Feeling pathetic, he lowered his head.
âIâm sorry,â he mumbled.
Catherine raised an eyebrow. âCome again?â
âI said Iâm sorry.â This time he apologized a bit loudly.
In the quiet place, it sounded rather loud. Even the wind stopped blowing to listen to his proper apology.
âAnd youâre sorry for what?â Catherine wanted a specific apology.
It was spring. The sun was right above their heads. The temperature was high. Nonetheless, the cold, refreshing wind blew in the hills.
Despite all that, Vincenâs face was covered in sweat.
He was never humiliated like that before.
He wiped his face and then said, â...For cheating on you... And for trying to ruin your reputation.â
Catherine heard it loud and clear.
Her curly blond hair danced in the spring breeze. She tugged her unruly strands behind her ears and looked at him forlornly.
Thinking of all the good times and bad times, she sharply inhaled and then slowly exhaled.
âI can finally let it go...â she thought.
Goodbye, first love.
Goodbye, daydreams.
All that was left were memories.
She didnât know why, tears fell from her eyes like a waterfall. The more she wanted to wipe them, the more her tears fell.
She didnât want to cry in front of others. She turned around and marched out of the wedding venue.
Vincentâs mother came back to her senses. When she realized what just happened, she exploded.
âThat bitch! She dares to humiliate us! How could she lie in front of so many people? She made my good son apologize to her when he did nothing wrong...â
âEnough!â Vincentâs father roared and silenced his wife.
His head throbbed when he heard his wife shouting nonsense.
His wife was startled and then felt wronged after being scolded by her husband in front of so many people.
âDear, how can you talk to me like that?â she asked.
He reprimanded his wife, âHow else do you want me to talk? I had enough of your drama. I have already told you not to speak badly of her.
âShe never wronged you but you wronged her. Isnât it natural for her to come here and ask for justice?â
He looked at his good son and said, âDo you regret it now? When I told you not to go overboard, you and your mother didnât listen to me.
âNow because of both of you, I lost my face and my familyâs reputation. I have nothing else to say to you.â
Speaking his mind, he left.
Even if he wanted to kick his son out of the house, he simply couldnât.
After all, Vincent was his only son and his sonâs wife was carrying his heir.
He could only feel sorry for what happened and try to forget about it.
He wasnât the only one who left.
All the guests and relatives followed his suit. They gave Vincent, Betty and Vincentâs mother a disappointed look before leaving.
Betty trembled in anger. She clenched her fists and glared at the way the guests left.
âHow dare you ruin my wedding? Catherine, I will never let you go. If it wasnât for you, I would have had a happy wedding. Itâs always you and your friend, Veronica who destroy everything I care for..â
After cursing them with all her might, she calmed down. She looked at Vincent.
Her husbandâs face was ashen. His hands were trembling.
âVincent, are you alright? You donât look well,â she said in a worried tone.
Vincent sat on a chair. He looked at the ground. He didnât look like he had any strength left in his body.
She softly stated, âVincent, what is wrong with you? Iâm asking you a question. Please answer me. Youâre not the only one who is feeling upset.
âI am also depressed about what happened. But we have to carry out our wedding. Itâs not like we can stop or anything.â
Vincent heard what Betty said and looked at her with a blank expression.
âYou want to carry out our wedding?â he asked.
He pointed his finger at the empty chairs.
He said, âWhat wedding do you want to carry out? The guests are already gone. Since you wanted a wedding so much, have a wedding on your own.â
Bettyâs face turned red in humiliation. she wanted to punch Vincentâs face in fury but she held back.
She shed tears and lowered her head as if she was wronged.
âHow can you speak to me like that? Itâs not like Iâm the one who jumped on you and made myself pregnant. Whatever happened between us was mutual. I have your child in my stomach.
âNow you cannot push the blame on me just like you did it to Catherine. Unlike her, Iâm carrying your child. Therefore, you can wrong her but not me.â
Listening to her cries, Vincent thought that he was a scum for making two girls cry on the same day.
He took a deep breath and wiped his sweats. He stood up and stroked her back.
He gently coaxed her, âIâm sorry, I was wrong. Yes, itâs all my fault. Itâs my fault for being seduced by you. Iâm the one who put my seeds inside you. Iâm the one who made you pregnant.
âI shouldnât have pushed the blame on you. Letâs go inside. You need to drink water. Itâs still hot outside.â
Betty wiped her tears and then looked at him with her red eyes. âYou wonât leave me, are you?â she asked in concern.
âYou are carrying my child. There is no way I will leave you,â he assured her. âJust as I promised, we will spend the rest of our lives together. And no one will come between us.â
Betty was delighted when she heard that. She sweetly smiled at him and said, âLetâs spend our life together. Forever.â
From a distance, Vincentâs mother looked at the couple. Her tongue was tied.
She had yet to process what just happened on the happiest day of her sonâs life.

Catherine teleported herself and went to the Magic Tower. She shoved herself on her bed and burst into tears.
She only became quiet after she cried her heart out.
.....
Outside her room, Veronica and Zinnia were waiting for her to calm down. They went to the wedding with Catherine and observed the situation.
They were there in case Catherine needed any help. However, Catherine was so strong that she didnât need their help.
âI hope she can overcome her grief,â Veronica prayed for her best friend.
âShe will eventually,â Zinnia assured her. Then, she suggested, âLetâs give her some time to overcome her feelings.â
âYou leave first. Iâll go back later,â Veronica told her.
She didnât tell Zinnia that Catherine tried to attempt suicide before. She was worried that her friend would do the same thing again.
Thatâs why she wanted to stand back and wait for Catherine to cool her head.
She wasnât ready to lose her friend just because of some scoundrels.
âââ-
âHow are you holding up?â Veronica asked while handing over a bowl of soup to Catherine.
âIâm fine,â Catherine said.
Although she said she was fine, Veronica found it hard to believe.
Catherineâs voice was hoarse. Her eyes were red and puffy. She cried so much that she became weak.
She quietly drank her soup without looking at her best friend.
Veronica waited for a while and then asked, âWhat will you do now? Do you have any plans?ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âWhat plan?â Catherine let out a deep sigh. âI will just go back to my usual routine after staying at Ironinâs house for a couple of days. Romance doesnât suit me. I think Iâm better without a husband in my life.â
Veronica felt sorry for her friend.
âWhy do you want to live a lonely life? You are the one who said that I had to live my life to the fullest. Shouldnât you do the same? There is still Sebastian...â
âNo.â Catherine shook her head. âHe gave me a chance and I didnât take it. Thatâs all there is to it. Itâs a good thing that he didnât pursue me anymore. I took him for granted. I donât deserve him. Heâs too good for me.â
Veronica touched her hand. âDonât say it like that.â
Catherine insisted, âNo, Iâm right. Sebastian deserves someone way better than me. Not a broken doll like me.â
Veronica wanted to say something but someone knocked on the door, interrupting their conversation.
âMistress, you there? Itâs urgent.â
