Chapter 430
Tangled By Fate
On one peaceful day, Sebastian barged into the room and reported, âMistress, Vincent didnât cancel the wedding. He decided to marry Betty.â
âHe gave up?!â Veronica hung her head. âI overestimated him.â
She was in Arthurâs room, working for Ovior.
At first, she was using Catherineâs space in Oviorâs office. However, Arthur kept coming to meet her from time to time and flirted with her in front of a single dude like Ovior.
Although Ironin was unaffected by the whole thing, Ovior couldnât stand it. To kick out Arthur from his room, he had to kick out Veronica as well.
Thus, Arthur set a table and a chair for her. She started working there. Whenever he raised his head, he would see her working with a serious expression.
Seeing her so close to him, he was delighted.
.....
Vincentâs news was what he expected. As a man, he knew a manâs character just by looking at them.
Veronica was too forgiving and soft-hearted. She still thought that man would have a chance if he begged properly.
Seeing his wife disappointed, he remarked, âA jerk will be a jerk. There is nothing to be surprised about.â
He walked toward his wife and sat at the table. While stroking her back, he gently asked, âWhat do you want to do?â
âWhat else can we do? Cathy already said she wonât be doing anything. Sheâd rather forgive and forget. Since she wants that, I will respect her wish,â Veronica said.
Her expression told them that she was not satisfied with the outcome.
âThatâs not all, Mistress,â Sebastian added. âVincent even spread rumors about... Miss Catherine. He lied to everyone saying she was cheating on him and when he found out, he was heartbroken. Thatâs when Betty comforted him. Thatâs why he decided to marry Betty.â
Veronica blankly stared at him. â...He.... Did.... What?â
Sebastian lowered his head. He surpassed his anger and continued, âHe spread malicious rumors. Not only him, but also his mother badmouthed... Miss Catherine to the guests and their relatives. His father stayed quiet. But everyone who had a good impression on her, they are now talking badly of her.â
A blue vein popped on Veronicaâs temple. âIs that so? Then, I must let everyone know who the bad person is here, donât I?â
The corner of Arthurâs lips rose. âYou can do whatever you want,â he encouraged her.

On the day of the wedding, Vincent was checking himself in front of the mirror one last time.
He was wearing a white tailored coat, shirt and pants. His dirty blonde hair was brushed backward. There was a white rose in his chest pocket.
Checking the knot of his tie one last time, he pressed his hand on his chest.
It was supposed to be a happy day but he felt a dull pain in his chest.
âCatherine, I loved you but you left me with no choice. You will regret not choosing me.â
He went out of the house and saw the decorations. Relatives and guests were swarming. They saw him coming out. They smiled at him happily and congratulated him.
Some of them looked at him in pity and sympathy.
âPoor him. Vincent is such a good man but look at his luck. His fiancée betrayed him. The girl is too stupid to leave a guy like him.â
âShe was all about looks. I knew she had something wrong with her personality.â
âWorking women are always immoral and complicated. It was a good thing that Vincent found out before their marriage. What would happen if she was pregnant with a bastard child?â
âA city girl is sly. She cannot be a good fit for a simple-minded guy like Vincent.â
She worked in the palace I heard? I wonder how she got the job. With her looks, she could easily get any job just by spreading her legs.â
âIâm sure she is already pregnant. Thatâs why they called the wedding off.â
âI think Betty is a nice girl. Even Vincentâs mother likes her.â
âShe is a sweet girl. She always talks to us with a sweet, friendly smile. Just staying near her makes me feel better.â
âShe is careful and caring. She will be a good housewife. Unlike Catherine.â
âYes, a working girl cannot be a good housewife. They only go after money. Who knows what they do to earn some coins.â
Vincent could hear all the malicious words about Catherine. He felt bitter.
âSee, Catherine? If you married me today, none of these things would happen. Everyone would praise you. no one would badmouth you. In any case, this time, you lost. Iâll see how you get married after hurting me like this.â
Betty came out wearing a white gown. Her head was decorated with flowers. Everything that was for Catherine, she wore all.
The dress was slightly altered as she had a baby bump. She had to buy another pair of shoes as Catherineâs feet were shorter than hers.
With a sweet smile, she looked at the guests and then Vincent. Everybodyâs admiring gaze made her content.
âVeronica, look at this. What belonged to your friend, I took them all. Husband, family, relatives, wedding, gown, flowers, everything belongs to me now. Your friend will get nothing. Do you still have time to regret it?â
With a pleased expression, she stood beside Vincent.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âYou look beautiful,â he praised her.
âThank you.â Betty gave him a loving gaze.
Vincent stared at her for a while and suddenly saw Catherine in her. He imagined how gorgeous she would look if she was wearing the dress now.
After all, the dress was chosen by Catherine. She loved flowers and thatâs why they arrange the wedding in spring.
She also wished the wedding to be held here. She wanted to attract the attention of the customers with the wedding.
Vincent looked away as he didnât want to think of her anymore.
âWhatever happened, happened. There is no way I will have any regrets. I wanted to marry her but she rejected me. This grand wedding was supposed to be hers. She is a fool to say ânoâ to this.â
The priest already started the ceremony. The wedding ended in no time.
It was the time for the bride to throw the flowers.
âReady everyone?â Betty excitedly looked at the crowd.
âYes!â the ladies shouted.
Betty turned around and threw the flowers at the ladies.
When someone caught it, others began to clap. But then suddenly, they all became quiet.
The unusual silence made Betty curious. She turned around to see what was wrong but then her entire body froze.
The bouquet of white roses was caught by none other than Catherine.
She was wearing a pink gown with golden dust all over the dress. A perfect party gown for a wedding reception party.
Everyone stared at the glamorous beauty. They didnât expect her arrival.
Betty looked at Vincent. Noticing that he was also watching the uninvited guest in awe, she became envious.
âWhat does he see in that bitchâs face? She is nothing.â
She pulled Vincentâs sleeve. âHusband, why is she here? Does she want to ruin the wedding?â
Looking at her pitiful appearance, Vincent pulled her closer.
âDonât worry about her. We are already married. What can she do now? You have our child in your stomach. I wonât ever leave you.â
Although he seemed worried, he was pleased.
His self-esteem hit rock bottom when Catherine rejected him. He slowly became confident after lying to people about Catherine.
The more people badmouthed her, the better he felt.
Now that she dolled up and came to the wedding, he was sure that she came to snatch him away from Betty.
He felt proud thinking two women would fight over him.
Hiding his happiness, he stepped forward.
He calmly said, âCatherine, what do you want? If you want to make trouble, I request you clear your head and go away.â
Catherine crossed her arms. âWhy would I want to make trouble? Canât I attend the wedding as a valued customer? Is this how you treat your customer?â
Vincent frowned at her nonchalant attitude.
âWhy is she behaving like that?â he wondered. âIs she upset that I didnât marry her? Well, she is the one who rejected me first. Even if she begs me, I canât divorce Betty.â
âYou are indeed a valued customer but you werenât invited,â he replied.
âWhy werenât I invited?â Catherine looked around. âI see most of the customers are invited here. Why didnât I get one invitation? Did you not want me to come? What are you afraid of?â
Her clear blue eyes were fixed on Vincent.
Vincentâs expression changed. Before he could say anything, his mother came forward.
.....
âYou, slutty girl, what do you want? You already hurt my son and now you want to destroy his wedding? Donât you have anything else to do? Orphans are really the worst. After all, they donât have parents to teach them manners!â
Catherine didnât flinch because of her harsh words. She coldly looked at Vincentâs mother.
