Chapter 410
Tangled By Fate
âAnd you must be Ovior, Arthur, Felix, Sebastian and... Darius. Did I get your names correctly?â
Lady Jenette smiled mischievously.
âHmm? She looks familiar but why?â Veronica squinted her eyes.
Lady Jenetteâs facial expression seemed overly familiar as if she had seen this kind of familiarity of voice before.
âHow?â Darius stared at her as though dumbstruck. He looked at Ironin in disbelief. âDonât tell me you told your wife about us? You always show disinterest but you are soft-hearted toward us, arenât you?â
Ironin didnât bother to look at him.
Lady Jenette chuckled. âThatâs not it. Why donât I show you how I know about all of you, Mr. Playboy?â
.....
âPff!â Felix didnât hide his laughter.
âNicely said,â Zinnia smirked while approving the nickname.
Darius gulped. He didnât like others tarnishing his name in front of a beautiful lady.
âDearest Lady Jenette, Iâm sure there was a huge misunderstanding. You see the silver-haired woman beside you. she instigated me to bet on whether I can make you fall for me or not. Iâm innocent!â
Veronicaâs jaw dropped at his desperate plea.
âDid he just blame everything on me?â
She couldnât believe how shameless he was.
âNo matter how much you push your blame on Veronica, we were there, you know.â Zinnia clicked her tongue and shook her head. The right corner of her lips was stretched up.
âWhat are you selling me for?â Darius hissed at her.
Lady Jenette chuckled. âI canât believe you guys are exactly how my husband described. I always imagined how it would have been if you were interacting with each other. This is funnier than I imagined. Shall we go upstairs?â
âYes, we shall,â Veronica agreed.
Ironin and Lady Jenette took them to the second floor living room. Their hands were intertwined as they walked with Arthur and Veronica.
Lady Jenette described each room as they walked in the corridor.
Veronica said, âI really want to see the rose garden you have, Jenette. I heard that itâs the biggest rose garden in the entire world.â
Lady Jenette replied, âIt is. I love red roses. So, Ironin hired gardeners to grow roses in the back of the castle. They have been taking care of the rose garden till now. We decided to have a picnic at 10 oâclock in the rose garden. How about that?â
Veronicaâs face beamed. âSplendid!â
âAnyhow, I was wondering. Where is your best friend?â Lady Jenette inquired. âHer name is Catherine if I remember correctly.â
Felix secretly glanced at Sebastian.
Sebastian had a placid expression. No one could guess what he was thinking judging by his face.
Veronica awkwardly smiled. âShe is thankful for your invitation but she had a prior date.â
She didnât tell her that Catherine didnât want to come anywhere close to Sebastian. She just couldnât.
âIs it like this? Thatâs too bad. I wish I could meet her. I wanted to go to the Magic Tower many times but Ironin wonât allow it,â Lady Jenette childishly complained.
Veronica was startled. Once again, she had a feeling that she met Lady Jenette before.
âThat place is no good,â Ironin stated with a poker face.
âIt looks like Ironin does keep her wife as a prisoner,â Ovior commented.
Ironin glared at him but he said nothing.
âThatâs not true at all,â Lady Jenette defended her husband. âI can go anywhere whenever I want except for the Magic Tower. Iâm not sure why he said so but I really want to go there. I want to know where he stays with his friends.â
Zinnia confirmed, âHe has a luxurious room like any one of us. We all stay on the same floor. Our room structures are similar. We have fancy meals every day. Itâs a better place than a palace.â
âThen, I should be able to go there, right honey?â Lady Jenette looked at her husband.
Normally, others wouldnât react to this kind of pet name. However, it was Ironin they were talking about.
Everyoneâs eyes fixed on him when he was called âhoneyâ sweetly by his wife.
Ironin suddenly felt very hot. Blood rushed over his face. He scratched his left ear awkwardly and told her, âItâll be better if you donât go. Bad people are all over that place.â
âThat I cannot deny. I still havenât found anything yet,â Zinnia thought. âIf I could catch the person who was behind leaking the information regarding Veronica, that would ease my mind.â
âAs long as no one knows her identity, thatâs fine,â Ovior shared his thoughts. âHowever, anyone acquainted with Veronica or us could be targeted. We have enemies everywhere.â
âIs that how it is?â Lady Jenetteâs shoulders slumped. âThen, how do you all live there let alone sleep in peace?â
Felix smiled amicably. âThatâs because we are powerful enough to take care of ourselves. Plus, no one would dare to harm us in our domain. If they do, they just have suicide wish.â
âEven so...â Lady Jenette looked at her husband in concern.
âOh...hoho... donât give him that look.â Darius shook his hand. âNo one will be able to give him a single scratch, let alone a blow. They will wind up dead before they could step any closer. Donât underestimate your husbandâs murderous... hkk!â
After being elbowed by Zinnia once again, he shut up.
Zinnia covered her mouth and snickered, âDonât mind his words. Iâm not sure if Ironin ever told you this â our Darius cracked his head in childhood. Sometimes, he mixes up people.â
Lady Jenette was quizzically looking at Zinnia and Darius. She couldnât understand why Zinnia kept attacking the playboy whenever he mentioned something about âmurderâ.
âAre they trying to hide something from me?â Suspicion arose in Lady Jenetteâs heart.
However, Zinnia was a professional seductress. There was nothing she couldnât do to melt a personâs heart.
Lady Jenette was no different. She smiled at Zinnia and brushed off her suspicion.
The maids prepared a perfect picnic for them. While admiring the red roses, Veronica inquired, âI was wondering how you two met. There is a rumor about Ironin that he kidnap[ed you and forcefully married you. Is that true?â
