Chapter 408
Tangled By Fate
âYou know I can tolerate anyone badmouthing me, but not you. I cannot stand it if others say hurtful things about you.â
The back of Arthurâs long finger stroked her soft cheek. He added, âYou are not allowed to get hurt because of me.â
Veronicaâs heart skipped a beat. She stared at her husband before pushing his chest.
âWhat are you doing in front of people? We are outside!â she whispered with a flushed face.
âWho cares what we do? We are married. No one will bother us. Want to check this out?â
Arthur pulled her closer and kissed her lips.
â!!!â Veronicaâs heart jumped in nervousness. She struggled to get away from him in fear of who was watching and labeling them as a shameless couple.
.....
No matter how much she struggled, Arthur didnât let her go. He playfully bit her lower lip, causing her to gasp in surprise. He took this chance to venture into her mouth.
She tried to fight back but his deep kisses were mesmerizing.
Whenever she tried to pull her tongue away from his grasp, he twirled his tongue with her and rubbed them gently. It gave her a ticklish sensation, causing her to focus on his kiss.
Soon, she forgot she was in the hall around many guests.
âLook at them. It feels like they are in their own world and we are living in their world. Sigh! Iâm so envious.â Darius stared at the couple with jealousy in his eyes.
âWhat are you so bitter about? Itâs not like you are someone lonely,â Zinnia commented as she stood beside him.
âIâve been lovely almost every night thanks to someone busy flirting with her husband,â Darius scoffed, who was in absolute misery. âSuch a witch!â
Zinnia chuckled. âEasy cowboy. Donât curse her or the head-over-heels husband of hers wonât spare you another day.â
âYeah, yeah, I know. But who will accompany me at night from now on? Sigh! Iâll become a hermit like this.â Dariusâs shoulders dropped.
âIf you become a hermit, Iâll become a saint.â Felix came forward with two champagne glasses and offered one to Darius. Then, he added, âAnd you will have to pray to me.â
Darius gave him a grossed look. âThat would be a nightmare.â
Felix stated, âThen donât mention anything about you being a hermit. Hermits will oppose it.â
âHermits like you?â Zinnia chuckled. âIâm not sure whom I should think of hermits anymore. I thought Ironin was a hermit until I got to know he had a wife.â
âSpeaking of which I donât see Ironin. Where did he go? Wasnât he here minutes ago?â Darius looked around.
âHe went out saying he had some urgent business to deal with,â Felix replied. âHis expression didnât look well. I hope itâs nothing serious.â
âSpeak of the devil.â Zinnia raised her chin at the door, making others look in that direction.
Ironin came inside with a deep frown.
Looking at his grave expression, Zinnia asked, âWhatâs wrong? Did something happen?â
Upon hearing her question, Ironinâs frown deepened. âMy wife... she invited you all.â
âHuh?â Darius, who was leaning against the wall, straightened up. âWait. What? Your wife invited us?! Where? Donât tell me itâs your place.â
â...â Ironin quietly turned toward him. His cold eyes pierced Dariusâs heart as if he was warning him â no funny business.
Darius raised his hands to surrender like an innocent man.
Zinnia raised an eyebrow. âSo, whatâs the deal? You wonât tell us you got married and suddenly an invitation? Is this a bribe to stop us from pestering you about your wife?â
âNo...â Ironin grimaced. âJust come to my house next weekend. She wants to meet you all.â
Darius: â...â
Zinnia: â...â
Felix: â...â
It was the first time they heard him talk this long. They were astonished.
âHey, what are you talking about?â
Veronica came running to them. She was all flustered. It looked like she ran away from her husband.
Arthur followed her from behind. His steps were slow. He had a satisfied smile on his face.
Felix stated, âIronin is inviting us into his house. His wife wants to treat us to a meal.â
âIs that true, Ironin?â The unexpected news made Veronica surprised and happy at the same time.
â...Yes.â As usual, his reply was curt.
âHow can you invite us with a sour expression. Itâs like you donât want us there,â Darius complained.
âIt could be right. Maybe he doesnât want you near his wife. I can understand his worry.â Zinnia winked at him.
Darius responded, âI swear I will act like a hermit at Ironinâs place.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âDid you just swear?â Veronica wanted to laugh.
âI cross my heart and hope to die.â Darius placed a hand on his chest.
âHe is serious. Look at that.â Even Zinnia was astonished.
âDarius is becoming more serious day by day. This isnât like you, pal.â Felix patted his shoulder.
âWhat do you know about my misery?â Darius glared at him.
âHe is learning well from me. Donât you think so, Nica?â Arthur hugged Veronica from behind and kissed her cheek.
âOh, stop!â Veronica pushed his face away. Her face grew hot due to his actions.
âGet a room you two,â Darius grimaced. âI canât believe she is making out in public while she stopped me from having fun. This loneliness is the worst!â
âWe can actually do that. We will leave everything to you,â saying that Arthur carried his wife in his arms.
âA-Arthur!â Veronica yelled in surprise.
In the blink of an eye, they disappeared.
Arthur teleported to the Magic Tower.
âDid he seriously just do that?â Darius looked around hurriedly. âI hope Vincentâs relatives didnât notice.
âWho cares if they find out Arthur is a magician. Most of the citizens in Tybu are magicians.â Zinnia wasnât worried.
âI hope not.â Felix looked at Ironin. âSo, next week, we are going to your place. You wonât change your mind later, will you?â
â...No.â Ironin eyed Darius before leaving the premise.
âDid he just...â Darius stared at Ironinâs back. He was speechless.
âGive up. You made a move on his beloved wife. He wonât forgive you easily.â Zinnia pinched his left butt.
âOuch!â Darius cried out with a small jump.
The next week, as promised, they went to Ironinâs house.
