Chapter 14.5
Saving Abba
Hello everyone, so this is a mini chapter. I didn't want to add it to the previous chapter because of it's importance and I didn't want to add it to the next chapter because of how short it is.
Do enjoy.
-------------------------------------
The loud screech of my alarm woke me, I let out a groan pulling my pillow over my head trying to ignore the sound and get back to sleep but the sound kept on increasing.
"Fucking hell" I muttered digging into my trouser and bringing out my phone. I dismissed the alarm.before checking the time.
3.00pm
Great, I slept through a portion of the day. Getting out of bed, I headed to the bathroom. I had a quick shower, popping a panadol for the pounding headache.
I got dressed in sweats and a shirt before heading to the main house. I noticed the haphazard way I had parked my car and shook my head.
How hard did I party last night?
Looking towards the side, I saw Najma's car and wondered what she was doing here.
Maybe she came to see Yasmin
I walked into the house and headed to the living room. Hajiya was seated on the couch while Najma was seated on the carpet, the tv was switched off.
"Good afternoon Hajiya" I greeted turning to Najma who was still had not looked up at me. I sat on the sofa still looking at her.
"Najma what's up?" I asked. She didn't answer. I frowned realising Hajiya had also not answered my greeting.
"What's going..."
"It's done Hajiya." Khalifa cut in as he walked into the room. Our eyes met and I was shocked at the intensity of dislike trained towards me.
What was his problem?
I looked at Hajiya before turning to Najma who looked like she was about to cry and then to Khalifa.
"W...what's going on?" I asked almost afraid of the answer. My question was met with silence.
"Where's Yasmin? Did anything happen to her?" I asked my heart racing as different scenarios ran through my mind.
"What was my condition for Yasmin remaining in this house?" Hajiya asked, her voice devoid of any emotion. I looked at her, confused.
"Condition?"
What was she...
"I gave you one rule to abide by, just one condition. What was it?"
I frowned still confused as to what this had to do with Yasmin.
I looked over at Khalifa for help but he just shook his head and looked away as if saying I had messed up really bad and he couldn't help me.
"I'm waiting Abba, tell me or so help me I will toss you out of my house this instant!!!" She snapped.
I froze, not used to being the main target of Hajiya's fury. Racking my brain, I tried to remember.
Think Abba, think!!!
My eyes widened and I felt dread fill me as her words came back to me immediately.
...one mistake and I am sending her to an orphanage. You can live with the guilt
Fuck no. No!!! Anything but that.
"Hajiya... please tell me you didn't" I whispered fear gripping me.
"You left me no choice." She replied.
"B..but... Hajiya it was a mistake. I... it was so stupid of me. Please don't punish her for my mistakes" I begged getting up from the couch. My legs felt weak and I sunk to the floor, Najma let out a sob before looking at Hajiya.
"P...please Hajiya. You can punish him but please bring Yasmin back" she pleaded. Hajiya ignored her focusing on me. Her usually warm eyes, hard with an unforgiving glint.
What have I done?
"Hajiya, I'll change, I promise. I'll learn to control myself" I promised close to tears, She let out a humourless laugh, looking down at me.
"You assaulted your co worker, went out to party, illegally raced down the streets of Abuja putting so many people in danger and you expect me to believe you are capable of change? No. Yasmin is gone. I told you my condition and you went out and disobeyed me. You can live with the guilt of knowing your actions cost Yasmin a good home."
My shoulder sagged as I stared at her. Khalifa was near his wife, consoling her. He turned to Hajiya.
"Isn't there anything we can do to change your mind? What if she stays with us instead. She'll be our responsibility." He suggested, Najma looked up at her, hope flashing across her features.
"No. My decision is final. Yasmin is not
coming back into this house. That is the end of this topic. With that she stood and left.
The room was silent, I stared at the spot she had vacated, my body numb from the news.
What have I done?
"Come on baby, let's go home." He whispered to Najma who was sobbing softly.
"N..no Khalifa. There has to be something we can do. Ya... Yasmin can't be gone from our lives. I can't accept that Khalifa. I... I just can't. Not like this." She cried out.
What was left of my heart shattered at her words and I moved to her but Khalifa shot me a glare making me stop in my tracks.
"Don't even think of coming near my wife. You've caused her enough pain" he grated before turning to Najma who had wrapped her arms around herself.
"Come on, let's get you home Najma." He whispered helping her up. I watched as they exited the room.
Good job Abba, it was just a matter of time before you messed this up. Congratulations on being a complete fuck up.
------------------------------------
Oh wow... this is the saddest chapter I have ever written. I honestly don't feel bad for him... okay I feel a tad bit sad for him.
Poor Najma, she was so distraught. How do you guys think they are all going to cope with Yasmin gone? And how is Yasmin going to cope without her Abba?
Let me know down in the comments.
