Amanda's Birthday : Aftermath
My Mother's Friend
I feel someone tap my shoulder and I turn to find a very drunk Michelle swaying while she stands.
"I forgot to give you a birthday kiss." she says.
When my mother's friends came in, pretty much all of them gave me a kiss on the cheek and told me happy birthday. I'm guessing that's what she means.
I turn my head to the side and she turns me back to face her.
Her lips were on mine in an instant. My body froze and I felt something I've never felt before. Like if the air was sucked right out of me and my legs were losing strength.
"I fucking told you!"
"Oh! My!...wow."
I faintly hear my friends say.
Michelle took my bottom lip in between hers and pulled away slightly. Fearing that the moment was going to end. I kiss her back using all the practice I've had kissing my pillow and mirror.
I place my hand on her waist to pull her close but my arm is swung away when she quickly moves backwards.
"MICHELLE! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?"
My mother's screams put me on edge immediately but they're not directed at me. They're at Michelle.
My brain was still processing everything I'm not even sure what my mother was going on about but I had to intervene.
"Mom! Relax! Calm down please. We have guests."
My mother looks around the room, briefly apologizes and leaves the room.
"I'm really sorry. I should just go." Michelle says searching for her keys in her purse.
"Hold on a bit, actually just take a seat on the couch."
I mouth "help" to my friends hoping they can do something to get me out of this awkward situation.
Lisa goes to the kitchen and cuts the cake handing everyone a piece and after a bit Ollie just straight up tells everyone to leave.
After thanking everyone and especially my friends I'm left with a very drunk Michelle. passed out on the couch.
This amazoness is like twice my size but I manage to get her up from the couch. I walk her to my room and she falls face first into my bed. I take off her shoes and I contemplate my next move. Jacket and belt but that's it.
The belt was surprisingly easy, the jacket not so much. I would make a horrible mortician.
After taking off her jacket I hang it on the backrest of my desk chair. I cover Michelle with my sheets and I turn to leave. I stop when I feel my overalls being pulled. I look back and I see Michelle's arm outstretched with her finger curled around one of my belt loops still with her eyes closed.
"Uh...Michelle?"
Michelle moans quietly then mumbles something.
I unhook her finger and bend down moving my hair behind my ear to hear her better.
"What's that?"
"I can't take your bed."
"It's okay. I want you to use it." I move some of her hair from her face and I stop to admire how pretty she is even drunk.
"Are you feeling sick?" I ask her.
She shakes her head.
"There's a bucket down here if you need it. I'll let you sleep."
"Where are you going?" Michelle asks.
"To the couch."
"NOooo. I have a better idea."
Michelle opens her eyes and smiles up at me before wrapping her arms around my waist and pulling me down on the bed with her.
"Michelle, what are you doing?"
She hugs me tightly and wraps her leg around me. I'm pressed up against her chest. Behind the strong smell of alcohol she smells really good.
"Let me at least turn off the lights."
"No. You'll leave me."
"I won't, I promise."
She loosens her hold on me but I still struggle to get her off of me and stand up. I turn off the lights and I kind of want to go sleep on the couch but I lay back down on the bed. She probably won't remember tomorrow but I still don't want to make her upset.
I lay on the bed facing away from her wanting to give her space but Michelle grabs me by the waist pulling me close and spoons me.
I have a hard time but I manage to fall asleep.
I wake up to the sight of Michelle's black lace bra. I look up not wanting to invade her privacy but I can't help but sneak a peek.
I stop myself from screaming when my door opens startling me.
"Amand-"
I look over my shoulder at my mother whose expression turns sour in an instant. She closes the door and I untangle myself from Michelle.
I make my way to the kitchen and I find my mother slamming kitchen utensils and pots.
"Sit down, I'm making breakfast."
She cracks an egg and starts furiously whisking it with a spatula.
"I'll just have yogurt and some fruit."
"I'm already making you some. Don't be a brat and eat it."
I watch as she adds more bacon fat on top of the eggs.
My mother serves me a plate and I pick at it, noticing how on edge my mother is. She can go off at any moment.
Michelle then stumbles into the kitchen with her boots and jacket in hand.
I feel like yelling out run! bitch! run!
My mother is shooting daggers at Michelle and I just quietly eat my breakfast.
"Linda...I want to apologize for yesterday and to you too Amanda. I shouldn't have gotten that drunk in the first plac-... there's no excuse I should've known better. I'm sorry."
"It's ok-"
"Are you done?" my mother interrupts.
Damn.
Michelle looks down at the floor and nods.
"Then please get out of my house." my mother points to the front door with the spatula.
Oh shit!
With my mouth open, as I was going to take another bite of my breakfast, I look between my mother and Michelle.
Michelle says "sorry" under her breath and makes her way out of the house.
When the front door shuts close. My mother throws the spatula hard on the sink making the loudest noise ever and walks to her room.
I'm there alone in the kitchen trying to figure out what happened.
