Chapter 21

Dušica's P.O.V.

"I am gay" were first words I said when I opened my eyes this morning.

"I am so bloody gay!" I yelled which startled Charlie who jumped from bed and started barking.

I took another pillow that was next to me and put it on my face. I started screaming like idiot while going with my legs up and down.

Once I felt better, I put pillow away and sighed. Charlie jumped on me and titled his head while looking at me. I needed to laugh because he looked so funny.

"Move, buddy I have to shower" I said and placed him on bed.

I went to bathroom and striped quickly. I need to think about everything. This is probably just little simple crush right? Right! It will pass by time. I mean girl isn't even gay for crying out loud! Even Mia and Elena noticed that she is probably seeing someone or something like that. I need to find a way to make this pass.

Even if something could happen, which by the way can't, I don't know how would I even said that to my parents. Okay, mom would be probably cool about it but dad... I don't know. It's just Serbia like whole country is homophobic. People there are conservative and they teach their kids something like LGBT is just wrong. My dad was raised in that kind of surrounding and I just don't know what his reaction would be. Sure, he is okay with other people being gay, but his only daughter?

Wait... Why do I even think about this? We all know nothing is going to happen. I just need to ignore this feelings and Sam herself. Yeah, that's probably right thing to do.

I sighed deeply and walked out of shower. I dried my body, brushed my teeth and dress red underwear.

I walked into closet while humming some song that was in my head since yesterday but I have no idea which song is that nor lyric of it. It's so annoying!

"Hmm, what should I wear?" I asked while looking around.

Let's take something cute to impress someone, huh?

"No, no, no! Stop thinking about it!"

I sound crazy for talking to myself right now, don't I? But what can I do?

I walked around closet looking for anything good to wear. I pick up white ripped jeans, white sneakers and green shirt. I put front side of shirt in jeans. It was little chilly today so I took white leather jacket as well.

When I was ready to walk out, my phone rung. I pick it up without looking at caller ID.

-Hey babe, ready for first day?- It was Mia, I could always recognize her sleepy voice, it sounds cute.

-Yeah, just wanted to head outside - I answered while taking my backpack from floor, and wallet.

-Good, school starts for half an hour, don't be late for first day.-

-Of course I won't.-

-Gotta go get ready now, see you soon babe -

-Love you, bye- I said and hung up.

I kissed Charlie good bye and walked downstairs. I saw Natasha and Charlotte in living room.

"Bye girls" I waved at them.

"Good luck!" they both said and I chuckled.

I walked outside and black SUV was ready with Willy in driver seat and John opening door for me.

"Good morning guys" I greeted when I climbed in.

"Good morning" they said in unison.

John sat at passenger seat and smiled at me.

"Are you nervous?" he asked.

"A little, to be honest"

He nodded "It's understandable, but you shouldn't worry. I am sure everything is going to be just fine."

"Yeah, I remember when I was going to new school. It was shitty. But I am sure it's not your case" Willy said which made John and me laugh.

Suddenly my phone rung and it was Mia. I pick it up with big smile on my face.

-Miss me already? -

- Ha, you wish. But seriously I need to tell you something - I could tell she was rolling her eyes.

- What's up? -

- Paps are here - she said and I froze.

- You are kidding me right?-

- Unfortunately no babe - she said and I could feel seriousness in her voice. She is not fucking kidding!

- Ugh, fine. I'll be there in few -

I hung up and both John and Willy looked at me through rearview mirror.

"What's wrong?" Willy asked worriedly.

"Paps are here" I said and sighed.

"Shit!" John said and turned around looking at something. "Here, take this. You'll need it" he was giving me sunglasses.

"Thank you" I grab it and immediately put them on when we went through school gate.

We stopped close to school's entrance and indeed paparazzi were everywhere! Kids from school were close as well, looking what's going on.

I sighed deeply. Willy and John looked at each other than at me.

"Are you ready?" Willy asked.

I looked outside and nodded.

"Let's go then" John said and walked outside first.

Willy followed right behind him and few moment later John opened door for me. I walked outside and immediately was blinded by flash of cameras. They were asking question after question and I didn't even catch one of them. Willy and John did everything to move paparazzi away from me. I looked down and put arm in front of my face.

John leaded me towards school and Willy was from my other side, making sure no one touch me. I really don't know what I would do without them.

We finally reached school's entrance and when I walked in everyone was literally staring at me. I sighed deeply and looked around.

"I'm going to send them out of school property" Willy said.

"Listen guys" I said and turned towards Willy "While you deal with them, John should go home and come back with one of motorcycle. They will probably wait in front of gates after school finish. So, when classes finish, I'm going to use motorbike and you just drive with SUV away from house. I don't want them to know where I live. Deal?"

"Deal!" they said in unison and bid their goodbye's.

"Where the hell is Mia?" I asked no one in particular when they left.

"I'm here" I heard that familiar voice, coming behind me.

I turned around and face her. She had apologetic smile on her face.

"I'm sorry about that" she said and kissed my cheek.

"Whatever, it's not your fault. After all it's their job, just it's little annoying."

I looked at my left and saw Sam standing and talking to some guy. He was obviously flirting with her. I felt jealously taking best of me. Dear god, I act like possessive girlfriend. But what can I do when I want him away from her. Ugh! Stop thinking about her!

"Dušica?" I heard Mia's voice calling me.

Sam heard someone calling my name and she turned around and smiled at me. I didn't return it, instead I just turned to face Mia. Ignore her, that's what I need to do!

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay?" she asked on which I only nodded.

She gave me that I know you are laying look but know better than to question me.

"Anyway class start for five minutes. Let's go to your locker first" she said and wrapped her arm around my waist and pulled me with her.

"Show me where we have first class because I need to talk to principal first"

She looked at me with raised eyebrow and I rolled my eyes at her and put my arms in air in surrender "Don't worry, I won't kill him"

She chuckled and shook her head in disbelief. We walked down the hall and everyone started at us.

"Nervira me kad ovako zure u nas" (It piss me of when they stare at us like this) I said.

"I mene" (me too) she said and sighed.  "Anyway, this is your locker. And our class is in second classroom on left from here" she informed and kissed my cheek. "Don't be too late Mrs.Black will kick your ass!"

I laughed and pushed her towards door. I put things I don't need for now in locker and started walking towards principal's office. First bell was heard and people started rushing towards their classrooms.

Suddenly I bumped into someone. We both fall down and all things person had in their arms fall everywhere around us.

"Shit!" I said and started picking up things nor even looking at person "I am really sorry"

"It's okay, it was my fault as well" person said.

Wait... I know that voice. I looked up at person that was still picking up things from floor.

"Miss Smith?"

She looked up and smiled when she saw me.

"Hey, Dušica. How are you?" she asked kindly.

"I'm fine, thanks for asking, and you?" I gave her her thing and got up.

I held my hand for her to take it, and when she did I helped her up.

"I'm pretty fine myself. Anyway, why are you not on your class?"

"I was going to talk with principal about incident with paps this morning" I answered.

"Yeah, I saw what happened and I'm really sorry for that." she said with apologetic smile.

"And why you are not in class if you don't mind me asking?" I asked with raised eyebrow.

"Because I bumped in you" she said with duh tone "But I really should go now. If you need any help, I am here, don't forgot that" she added.

"Thank you Ms. Smith" I said and she walked away.

Just when I started walking again, second bell rung. No one was on corridors anymore. Picture of that guy and Sam run through my mind and immediately made me even more pissed.

"Jebi se" (Fuck you) I mumbled under my breath and kept walking.

When I was in front of principal office I knocked two times and opened door when I heard faint 'come in'.

When I opened door you have one right to guess who was sitting there... If you think it's Sam... Bingo! She looked at me but I just decide to avoid her eyes.

"Oh good morning, Ms. Nikolić" principal said.

"Good morning" I said politely and shook his hand.

"I guess you are here because of paparazzi that was here this morning"

"That's exactly why I am here" I started still not playing attention at Sam.

"Right. Samantha came here because of that too. She was pretty pissed because they ruined your privacy" he informed.

I bit my lip and look at Sam, who was sitting calmly in her place. How can someone ignore her when she is so cute!? I couldn't stop smile that was forming on my lips.  But soon I just looked away, but not before I saw frown on her beautiful face.

"I can promise you that will never happen again" principal said "You two should go at your class now." we nodded and got up. Before we went through door he said "Good luck on try outs today!"

"Thank you" I answered simply and close door behind me.

I was walking beside Sam, not letting even one word leave my mouth. Suddenly she opened door of first restroom and pushed me inside.

"What the?" I said, totally confused.

She closed door and leaned on them. She looked directly at my eyes and titled her head aside. Her eyes full of concern. I just now saw how beautiful she looked today, it's not like she is not always beautiful though. She was wearing black jeans and white V neck shirt. She dressed so simple but she look so attractive in anything. She could wear cardboard box if she wants she would still be the most beautiful girls my eyes have ever seen.

"What's wrong?"

"Huh?" I asked playing dumb.

"Don't pretend like you don't know what I am talking about" she said and rolled her eyes, then started walking towards me. "You have been ignoring me since you came to school"

I took step back and my back hit wall. Shit! She was waaaay too close right now. Does this girl know what personal space is!? It's not like I mind it though. What? No! Of course I mind it!

"Why are you ignoring me, huh?" she tucks strand of my hair behind my ear "Is that because something I did?" she asked with sudden sadness.

No, no, I can't stand seeing her sad!

"No!" I said a little too laud "I mean, you didn't do anything wrong. I swear!"

"So, what is it?" she asked and because the small space that was between us I could feel her breath on my face. Damn!

"I just got nervous because of paparazzi" well that wasn't complete lie but that wasn't reason I ignored her either.

She hummed in response and I looked down at her lips. Oh, how big mistake that was! I just wanted to kiss her like whole day! I bit my lower lip and closed my eyes while leaning my head on wall behind me. I sighed deeply and opened my eyes just to find Sam smiling at me.

"Stop smiling like that" I said, but big smile appeared on my face as well.

"I'm not even smiling"

"Yes you are" I nodded and took her right hand that was freely next to her body.

I played with her fingers and we both could not stop ourselves from smiling. That's it from my ignoring. You see how good I am in ignoring people?

"By the way, you look beautiful today" I whispered at her ear, which made her blush, and intertwined our fingers pulling her outside of restroom.

"I thought I look beautiful every day" she said with pout when we closed door behind us.

I laughed and shook my head in disbelief "You do" I said and kissed her cheek.

When we were in front of door of classroom I let go of her hand and immediately missed warmth of her skin.

She sighed and brought her hand to knock on door.

"Mrs. Black is going to kick our asses now" she said while looking at me.

I laughed and shook my head. She finally knocked and we heard faint 'come in'. Sam opened door and I heard voice of elderly woman.

"Ah, look Ms. Mett decide to honor us with her presence."

I almost burst out laughing but tried to stop it after all.

"Don't be like that Ms. Black." Sam said "I bring new student" she motioned for me to come in and I did.

Ms. Black froze at her place when she saw me standing there. Yeah, principal mentioned to my parents that teachers don't know I am coming to study here.

"Good morning" I replied with warm smile.

Sam winked at me and walked towards her place in back row next to Mia. Actually there was chair between them, so I guess that one is for me.

"Umm... Okay, can you introduce yourself to class?" Mrs. Black asked me.

"Sure" I said and turned towards class "My name is Dušica Nikolić. I was born in Serbia, but moved to London when I was 6. That's probably it, I'm here now" I said with British accent while awkwardly scratching my neck.

"Okay, you can sit next to Mia and Sam" she said.

I nodded and walked towards them. Mia was silently laughing her ass off and soon enough I started laughing as well. I sat between them and kissed her cheek. I felt like everyone's eyes were on us three.

"Okay, let's keep with lection where we were before we were roughly interrupted" Ms. Black said and eyed Sam who just smiled sheepishly.

Mia and I chuckled and she leaned towards me and whispered "They are like this every day. Sam being late and Mrs. Black being 'angry' "

"Girls, I know you want to meet each other better but please do it after my class" Mrs. Black said.

"Oh don't worry, we don't have to get to know each other because we are already best friends" Mia said with chuckle.

I giggled and nodded "Exactly, we have been friends since we were six"

"Whatever. Anyway, don't talk"

Mia rolled her eyes and put her head on table. I looked over at Sam and she was actually typing something at her phone and smiling!

I bit my lips and looked away. She's probably texting her secret boyfriend or something like that. Can I go back at ignoring her?

I leaned back at my chair and pretend to listen lesson. I was not in mood for anything right now. At least I should be happy that she is happy right? Right!

Soon, class was over and three of us headed towards English.

"So, how do you like it here babe?" Mia asked and put her arm around my shoulder.

"It's fine for now" I replied dryly.

I looked at Sam and she was smiling all time. Seriously? That guy makes her that happy!? Ugh!

We came in front of classroom and Ms. Smith was standing in front of door, greeting students.

"Good morning Ms. Smith" Mia greeted.

"Morning girl" she replied cheerfully.  "Dušica, how was first class?"

"It was good" I replied with small smile.

"I'm glad, but I hope you would love my class more than Mrs. Black's though"

"Don't worry, I already do" I said which made her chuckle.

Sam was eyeing me weirdly but didn't say anything when we walked in.

Emili, Elena and Ana was already there.

"Morning girls" I greeted and kissed their cheeks.

They greeted back and we took places like in previous class while those two were sitting just in front of us. Suddenly Kendall appeared in front of us.

"Hey Dušica" she said and leaned over the table and kissed my cheek.

"Hi" I said awkwardly "What's up?"

"Not much. Uh- umm I was wondering if you are free tonight?" she asked nervously.

"I don't know. Why?" I asked but she couldn't even have time to answer when Ms.Smith come inside.

"Calm down class" she said and walked towards her desk.

Kendall immediately left but not before I could see her blushing.

"You know she literally was asking you on a date right?" Mia whispered to me.

I rolled my eyes at her "Oh please"

Sam was nervously shifting in her place.

"You okay?" I asked her with raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, fine. Absolutely fine" she said and looked away.

What the fuck was that!? I sighed and decide to actually listen to lesson Miss Smith was teaching.

Somewhere in middle of class, knock was heard on door.

"Come in"

Some guy opened door while holding something in his hands.

"Who is Dušica Nikolić?" he asked.

I frowned and everyone looked at me.

"That's me" I said confused.

He came towards me and put the box in front of me. He smiled flirtatiously at me and walked away.

"Have a good day" he said and walked through the door.

"You too" Miss Smith said to him and looked at me.

Actually whole class was watching me right now and I was staring like idiot at box in front of me.

"Open it" Mia said and nudged me in ribs.

"Right" I mumbled and opened it.

When I saw what it was I almost stopped breathing. I have never saw anything as beautiful as this.

"Oh my god!" Mia, Elena, Emili and Ana literally yelled at same time.

"Calm down you four" teacher said.

"This is beautiful" I gasped and pick up little note that was there.

Smile, beautiful!

Was written inside. Immediately smile appeared at my face.

"Who sent it?" Sam asked while looking over my shoulder.

"I don't know" I said and shrugged.

I bit my lips and looked at box. I guess you all wonder what is there. Well, box was full with black roses and one white in middle.

Ms. Smith cleared her throat and I put box with roses down. She kept teaching her lesson and I just couldn't concentrated. I was thinking so much about mysterious person and this beautiful gift.

Soon, bell rung, dismissing class and we all started heading outside. I didn't get chance to finish my conversation with Kendall because she literally ran away immediately when bell rung. Anyway, six of us have P.E. now and we were walking towards gym. We decided to went to my locker first so I could put flowers there.

"It's so beautiful I wish we know who sent it" Elena said with pout.

"Same" other girls agreed.

"You have no idea how much I want to know that" I sighed.

They were talking about this whole time. Everyone was pretty interest, beside Sam. She still had that smile on her face.

I decide to just ignore it and maybe think more about mysterious person. But who am I kidding, there can be millions of 'mysterious person' and I would still be able to think only about her.

I am so screwed!
