Chapter Twenty Six.

Taking Whats His

Chapter Twenty Six.

There was a moment of silence before my words registered with everyone and chaos exploded within the clearing. I could hear my pack shouting there protests and stacking claims that they would take my place.

It was a stupid move and an impulse decision that I knew I would come to regret later but right know I knew that it was the right thing to do.

From what little I knew about the werewolf world a challenge wasn't something that should be taken lightly. I had been considering this option for a long time since my first shift. A challenge against an Alpha was rare. My dad had Alpha blood which meant that I had a little bit of Alpha blood in me as well giving me a little more hope.

The challenge would hopefully save many lives. I doubted that I would be able to kill my dad but I would at least be able to injure him in some sort of way that would make him easier to take down once I was out of action.

I was the Luna of the pack that stood proudly behind me and therefore it was my duty to protect everyone from harms way. The threat was my father and so it was my fault that we were in this position. I had to try and get us out of this situation.

My dad stood in front of me in a state of shock along with his pack and the rogues he had brought with him. They didn't try to hide there obvious shock and I might have laughed in another situation at there slack jaws and wide eyes.

"Esme!" Logan shouted from behind me drawing my attention away from my dad.

I had only walked a few steps away from Logan, "I know what I'm doing."

"No you don't!" Logan shouted again and I briefly closed my eyes knowing that Logan was right.

I turned slightly and opened my eyes so that I could look over my shoulder at Logan, "I have to try."

Logan was being held back by his dad on one side and Oliver and Jason were holding onto his other arm. He fought against his family's grip that was holding him back in a desperate attempt to reach me. His chest heaved and his eyes were almost completely black with his wolf coming forward.

"Esme!" Logan growled loudly when I took another stepped forward.

I turned back around so that my back now faced Logan and the pack. I didn't want to look at the faces of my pack not knowing how they would react. I couldn't bare the thought of my possible last glance at me new family being anything other than there smiling faces that I remembered.

I walked further into the space between my dad and the pack. My wolf was slowly growling inside of me, desperate to break free of my control and lung at the man who has now gained his composure and grinned wildly, a glint in his eyes promising pain.

"Well," he whistled lowly, "I guess we should get started by setting some rules."

I didn't say anything and stood my ground, blocking out the noise from behind me. My dad began to pace side to side in front of me whilst taking off his suit jacked and passing it to a rogue that stood taller than the rest.

"No one is to interfere," my dad began as he removed his tie and made a point of looking at Logan behind me.

"On both sides," I stated, "just me and you."

My dad smiled wickedly, "no giving up."

"A fight to the death?" I wanted to sound strong but my statement came out as a question and the underlying fear in my voice could be heard even by myself.

I don't know why I thought anything else would be the outcome. A little part if me hoped that my dad still care for me deep down and wouldn't kill me. He was a true monster in everyday.

"To the death." He nodded sharply, the sleeves of his shirts now rolled up and the two top buttons undone which would make moving a little bit easier in the shirt he wore.

I took another step forward at the same time my dad. My dad and I began to circle each other, my eyes never leaving his form and darting down to his feet watching his footwork just like Logan had taught me to do in training.

"My sweet daughter," my dad sneered, "I see you're missing some bruises. It's a shame you were an open canvass that I just loved to paint."

My wolf lurched forward taking control little by little. She hated how my father continued to torment us even now, after so long he still enjoyed making us feel so small.

My wolf now in control harshly removed my scarf throwing it to the ground so that Logan's mark could be seen by everyone, "this will be the only mark I will ever bear."

Everything changed in that moment. My dads eyes zeroed in on the mark on my neck that Logan had recreated many times.

I thought I had seen my dad angry many times before but never had my dad looked so enraged than his did in that moment. His green eyes darken, his expression changed beyond recognition as he launched himself into the distance between us.

"No!" A number of people shouted out as if it would somehow stops dads advance.

His body collied with mine, knocking the air out me as we were sent through the air and crashing to the floor. My back hit the floor and then my head which followed afterwards hitting painful against the hardened ground with a smack. I wheezed, my ribs burning painfully with every breath that escaped me. I coughed loudly, tears pricking my eyes. My wolf was growling as she hurried to heal me.

"You stupid, stupid girl." My dad roared from where he now stood above my sprawled out body. He glared down at me, his lips set into a snarl of disgust and his hands clenched into fists at his sides.

My dad was to busy fuming that I took the chance to swing my legs to the side with all my might, taking his feet out from underneath him. I scrambled to my feet, never taking my eyes off of my dad who was on the floor, seething in anger.

My middle was aching from my fall but I ignored the pain and took two steps away and stood straighter. My wolf was still with me, we were one and she would help me through this.

"You're going to regret that you silly bitch." He growled, launching to his feet with ease.

He inched forward slowly, reminding me of a predator stalking his prey. I was the helpless rabbit being chased by the big bad wolf. My father has always had the advantage over me. My fear was his biggest strength and also my biggest downfall. I would never have tried to fight my dad back in fear of his reaction but now I wanted nothing more than for my dad to feel even the smallest amount of pain that he caused me.

He launched again, his fist raised high ready to strike me down. I held my ground and raised my arm up blocking the hit just like Logan has shown me in training, all the memories and techniques coming back to me in a rush. This was a fight to the death, survival of the fittest and I desperately wanted to live.

My other hand curled up and punched my dads side that he had left unprotected. He grunted and used his arms to push me away from him causing me to stubble back a few steps. We had barely began but I was already panting and my wolf was worked up.

"Brave girl fighting back." He snickered, obviously thinking that I was stupid to even think I could beat him.

"You don't scare me." I growled loudly from deep within my chest. I quickly removed the jacket around me feeling my body begin to shake and come alive with electricity that I was familiar with when shifting. The cold air nipped at my skin.

"Then you're stupider than I ever thought." He laughed loudly, gaining a few laughs from the group of rogues with him while my pack growled.

The next attack was fast, I hadn't anticipated him to strike so soon. His fist connected with the side of my face forcing my head to the side as I stumbled backwards even more. The familiar metallic taste of blood filled my mouth as I spat out the blood that filled my mouth. My head and side of my face aching from the blow.

"Esme." Logan growled my name loudly. I turned slightly so that I could see him over my shoulder. He was still being held back by his family although his entire body shook and his face was red from strain of suppressing his wolf.

Pain exploded in my stomach and I hunched over, my hands clutching my stomach protectively as I struggled to breathe. I could see my dad through my tears standing before me looking smug from the pain he had caused from kicking stomach. He raised his elbow and brought it down painfully on my back causing me to drop to the floor. I coughed and wheezed, blood dripping from my mouth.

I rolled onto my back in time for my dads foot to land on top of my stomach painfully. I flinched and gripped the back of his heel and the tip of his shoe before twisting it to the side. A hiss escaped my dad whilst he yanked his foot away from me allowing me to scramble to my feet painfully.

The attack was quick and my dad was flying punches at me. His fists hitting the side of my body with such force that I was winded instantly. I hunched over, my hands coming up and resting against the side of my forehead for some sort of protecton.

A kick was sent to the side of my knees knocking me to the side and causing me to fall forward, my hands outstretched and broke my fall with pain shooting up my arms. I sat weekly on my knees.

I breathed out painfully, my ribs and sides bruised. Blood dribbled down my chin and I watched as the drops began to stained the grass bellow me.

A hand gripped my hair painfully and forced me to look up into the eyes of my dad who was grinning down at me, knowing that he has already won.

"You look like your mother." My dad mused absently.

"You will never see her again." I muttered knowing in some way that it was true. The pack would make sure of it. My mum wouldn't walk out into the face of danger as I had. She wasn't stupid.

"And nether will you." He sneered, his eyes flashing.

He struck like lighting. The back of his hand connected with the side of my face in a way that I was familiar with. The hand in my hair tightened stopping me from falling to the side from the force. My scalp burned, tears freely flowing down my face. I remained limp knowing that any furthered struggle would be a waste of what little energy I had.

My dad threw a punch to the other side of jaw, making sure my face would be decorated nicely with bruises He releases my hair allowing me to sprawl out across the grass. My hair covered the side of my face as I began to sob into the grass.

My wolf was able to use me weakness to her advantage as she took full control. I could feel my wolf spread herself through out my body. I welcomed the feeling as she forced the shift upon me. It felt like hot lava was spreading throughout my entire body. I couldn't enjoy the feeling as I usually did knowing that I was shifting to protect myself.

My body began to change into my wolf. I could both feel and hear the sound of my clothes shredding into small pieces.

A collective gasp from those around us could be heard. I open my eyes to see that my dad was backing away from me, his mouth opening and closing from shock.

I realised that my dad and everyone he came with still thought I was human. My scent had changed into a wolves but they must have thought it was because Logan and I had mated and not because I was a wolf.

My wolf pushed up off of the ground, at first my legs shock and my ribs ached but as we stood tall now facing my dad we showed no fear. We could still walk and breathe and most importantly move which meant that we could still fight.

We used my dads shock to our advantage as we launched ourselves at him. My paws landed on his shoulder with our weight forcing him on his back where he landed with a thud. Our claws extended so that they now pierced the material of his short as well as his skin, red specs appearing though the material. A snarl tore through his throat from the pain, exposing his neck slightly.

My wolf growled and snapped her jaws in his face. His throat was exposed and my wolf urged me forward to go for the kill but I couldn't.

I looked down at the man whose green eyes starred back at me filled with hatred. It was almost like looking into a mirror only the emotions that could be seen were different. The green eyes flickered from black to green, just like mine would be if I were in my human form.

It didn't matter what my dad had done to me in the past, I couldn't kill him. He was my dad, he was family and I wouldn't lower myself to his level in killing family.

My dad moved and shifted underneath me, the force of his body changing caused me and my wolf to stumble off of him. Pain circulated through my front leg causing a loud whine to escapes muzzle. The powerful jaws wrapped around my front leg were relentless as my dad began to shake his head from side to side. I tried to follow the movement and ease the pain until my dad threw us aside and to the floor where I lay, panting and looking at the bloody wound.

The wolf I knew was my dad stood before me. He was a dark brown colour similar to own standing tall and proud, the arrogance radiating off of him in waves. My blood coated his muzzle and my eyes zeroed in on a small droplet of blood and saliva that dropped from his upper lip and to the floor. I knew that my dad was more confident in his wolf form than he had been as a human.

Adrenaline coursed through me easing the pain temporarily and allowing us to go on. My heart beat wildly in my chest and I panted loudly, a small cloud of smoke gathering every time I breathed out from my warm breath meeting the cold air.

We began to circle each other once again. My body dipped towards the front whenever weight was placed on my injured leg. A spasm of pain would fire through me every time. I released all of my control to my wolf, now being pushed into the back of my mind. She growled loudly, the fur on the back of my neck standing on end and my ears pinned back as my wolf waited for him to attack.

My dad charged forward and my wolf reacted less than a second later. She was fearless and fast, meeting the attack head on ignoring our injuries. The force caused my wolf onto her back legs, mirroring my dads position whose jaws was snapping wildly trying to grip onto any part of us that he could reach.

She swung our uninjured paw to the side catching the side of his face with her claws drawing blood and forcing his face to the side allowing her to clamp her jaws on to the exposed area of his shoulder.

Blood invaded my sense and my mouth from where my teeth had easily broken the skin. My wolf shock her head from side to side viciously just as my dad had until she was able to bite a chunk from his shoulder and throw it away to the side somewhere.

He pushed away from us and stood a little way away limping a little as blood oozed from his shoulder wound. My wolf was seeing red wanting my dads blood to stain all of our fur. She was angry and wanted revenge.

Now fuelled by rage my wolf attacked again, head butting the side of my dad injured shoulder and forcing him back. His jaws clamped onto the side of my shoulder and a howl of pain escaped me.

My wolf used our smaller size to dip her head and bite at his front leg which was in easy reach.

My dad had underestimated the rage of my wolf who was more feral than civilised as she craved his blood. She was ruthless and ready to kill.

In an instant my shoulder was released and my wolf was using all of our body and weight to shove him backwards until he fell on his side.

She lowered the front of our body, ready to pounce and go in for the kill as my dad struggles to get up from his injuries.

It was almost to easy to take my dad down. He had been so confident when he first shifted in to his wolf. My wolf backed away a little realising the same. There was the possibility that this was all a trick.

"Esme!" My name was called from multiple people as my wolf turned slightly, hearing the voice of her mate above the rest.

"Esme, watch out!" Logan shouted urgently starring at something behind me as he fought wildly against those who held him back.

My wolf turned to the other side in time to see the blur of blonde fur before it smacked into the side of us, tackling us a feet away from my dad. The wolfs teeth bit down on my exposed side, easily breaking the skin and reaching my ribs.

The sound of multiple ribs breaking with a sickening crack echoed around. A howl of pain escaped me before it changed in to a human scream as I lay naked on the floor unable to move. The pain consumed my entire body, paralysing me where I lay vulnerable under the blonde wolf. My wolf now to weak to stay in control as blood gushed from our open wounds.

My screamed was drowned out by a vicious growl that had my heart beating irregularly. I could feel the vibration travelling through the ground from paws that thundered towards us with desperation. I relaxed slightly, allowing myself to give into the blackness that clouded my version as I knew that Logan was on his way.

The foul breath of the wolf above me blowing against my neck evoking a painful shudder of disgust to run down my back and I feared that Logan wouldn't reach us on time.

The rogue howled loudly above me, a howl of victory for defeating it's pray.

I could barely see through my blurred vision the wolf bringing it's open jaw down towards my neck.

AN: Hello beautifuls! I know it's been forever and I am sorry. For one reason or another I am currently without a laptop which I used to write on and make sure chapters were lengthy and edited. I also have a job which is now in the busy season so I've got more hours and work later which makes it difficult to find time to update, it's no excuse but I hope you guys understand. So, this chapter is written on my phone with a keyboard that is to small for my fat thumbs. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter, which isn't edited and probably not the usual length, sorry. Plus.. Logan's point of view next chapter and I promise not to make you guys wait so long. Thanks for the support my lovelys, love you!
