XVIII. Engagement

Avni

Every girl dreams of having a perfect marriage and the first step towards that life is engagement, and here I am on my engagement day thinking of something which I should have done a long time. I have many secrets, some I can share and some I cannot. I did not plan to tell Abhi about my condition, as he was thinking of this marriage as a business deal. But now, we were giving this marriage a chance, so I have to tell him. I decided to tell him about it before marriage.

"Bitch look here," I came out of my thoughts and looked at Akky. Today is my engagement and I was getting ready for the ceremony.

"Don't shout babe, I may become deaf." I gave her a deadpan expression.

"Show some enthusiasm, and don't get lost in your thoughts. Enjoy it as there will be only one engagement ceremony in your life." Akky said with a pout. I was dressed in my lehenga and my makeup, hair everything was done. We should leave in 5 minutes and Akky was forcing me to take some pictures with her, but I was not in the mood.

"Mama," I heard my baby coming to the room. I looked at her and felt instant happiness. She was dressed in a beautiful dress almost similar to mine. When I saw that dress at the store, I could not stop myself from buying it.

I took Diya in my arms and smothered her in kisses to which she giggled. "My princess is beautiful than anyone in the world right. Akky take pictures with my baby." We took some pictures, me and Diya, me and Akky, some with those both. I posed for some single pictures as Akky and Diya guided me into some poses. I felt huge relief wash over me as Diya is near me. I decided that I would tell Abhi about my secret today. I hope he will take it in a good way. Anu came inside to check whether we were done getting ready or not.

"Avni, you are looking good. You look like your mother as days go on." Anu said with tears in her eyes. I hugged her and tried to console her. We all climbed into the waiting limo waiting for us in front of the house. They were chatting, while I was lost in my thoughts. I was thinking of my interactions with Abhi and how he can take the news, it was not a big deal so I hope he will accept it.

We reached the venue, it was the Oberoi's hotel, Rohan Oberoi to be specific as he was looking after their hotels, and the classiest one in the world. We reach the room where the function was held, accompanied by Akky, Anu and Diya. I found papa and ma near the entrance greeting the guests. We approached them and they greeted me, they both hugged me and complimented me. They guided into the room where a dais was present and Abhi was present looking good in his sherwani.

He was the epitome of handsomeness, it was my first time seeing him in a traditional dress. I kept staring at him I forgot my surroundings as I sated into his blue eyes. He checked my dress causing me to flush. He gave me a small smile. I kept my head down and came near him. There was a couch placed on the stage where we both sat.

"You are looking beautiful," he whispered in my ear. I smiled at his compliment.

"You are also looking dashing in this outfit. You are totally rocking it." I told him in a low voice and he chuckled, I widened my eyes at the words I used. I mentally scolded myself for speaking those words.

The photographer took some pictures of us, telling Abhi to place his hand over my waist. I felt weird having his hand on my skin, I got a weird feeling in my stomach. We exchanged our rings and sat down enjoying some dance performances by Akky and Aarav. They slowly pulled everyone to dance with them. They came and pulled me and Abhi onto the dance floor, a romantic song was played in the background.

Abhi placed his left hand over my waist and his right hand held my left hand. I placed my right hand over his shoulder, and we moved according to the beat staring at each other. Slowly, the sound and everyone faded into the background. I just stared into the endless of blue in his eyes. He twirled me and pulled me towards him with my back pressed to his front. I felt his hot breath over my neck and shivered at the sensation. He moved our bodies together in sync. He slowly pushed me forwards and pulled me back now with my front to his front. There was no gap between us and we were practically hugging each other. He bent forwards and kissed me on my cheek, and I came to my senses. All members were surrounding us and clapping. I pulled myself out of his grip and instantly felt cold and wanted to be back in his hold. What is happening to me?  That was the only thought that ran in my mind.

I excused myself and left the place, running as if I caught fire on my back. I went inside the restroom and observed my reflection. My cheeks have a dust of pink on them. My face was glowing in happiness with a twinkle in my eyes. I chuckled and shook my head at my reflection. Suddenly the bathroom door opens and Akky came in startling me.

"What just happened? My brother freaking kissed you!" She came and shouted in excitement.

"Geez, stop shouting," I said facing her. Akky was beaming at me with mischief in her eyes.

"You miss, my brother has hots for you, he freaking kissed you and that dance. I have no words to describe that hotness." Akky said fanning her face. I blushed at that.

"Stop it, let it go."

"Aww, my Avni is blushing. She is in love with my brother," she said in a singsong voice.

"Shut up," I mumbled shyly.

"No no, I want details. How did this happen." I remembered the words he told me while agreeing and smiled instantly.

"We both decided to give this marriage a chance. I want a clean state for this marriage, I am going to tell him my secret." Akky nodded her head trying to analyze my words.

"It is great that you both are going to give this marriage a chance and a clean slate is a first step towards the relationship. You go and tell him now. I know him, he will understand your reasons. I didn't see him look at anyone like that." She encouraged me. I gathered my confidence and left to find Abhi.

Abhi

Avni was beautiful in that dress, she was good in that yesterday but now with hair, make-up and some accessories, she was a vision for eyes. The ceremony went without a hitch, I sat close to her smelling her scent and touching her body, I found her more attractive now. That dance, I wanted to try something more but was afraid to cross a line. I watched her as she left the place running.

"Oh bhai, it was a good show." Aarav came near me and grinned at me giving me a mischievous look. Rohan also joined us giving me a taunting look.

"Yes Abhi, it was a good show indeed." They were both looking at me while I was staring in the direction Avni left soon Akshaya also followed her. I sighed, I think I pressed my boundaries. I felt someone punching me on my legs and saw my baby angrily punching me.

"Baby, why are you beating me?" I sat on my knees and asked her. Diya was glaring at me all the time with her hands on her hips.

"Sorry if dada did anything wrong. Tell me what I did so that I will never do that." Diya thought for a moment.

"You no kiss mama, I only kiss her. Now she angwy, say sowry." The little munchkin demanded cutely, I kissed her on her cute button nose and she wrinkled it cutely.

"As you say princess," I went in search of Avni. I stopped for a moment and thought to give her some space and went to the garden present, I was taking fresh air and thinking of Avni when I heard someone call me.

"Abhi," Damini aunty stood to my side with some papers in hand and a nervous look on her face.

"What is it Chachi? You are looking nervous", I did not find her at the function and she was being distant after meeting Avni. She even told me once to re-think my decision of marrying Avni. I think she does not trust Avni.

"Abhi I have something important to show you about Avni," she said observing the surroundings.

"Chachi, I know you dislike Avni. But she is not like that. She did not tell me about her real identity because she has her reasons and I understand where she is coming from. Give her a chance." I smile but she shook her head in disbelief.

"You have fallen into her trap boy, she trapped you with her innocent look." She scoffed, I tried to reason with her but she threw some papers at me. I looked at them and found a will.

I started reading the papers and felt numb, it was a will left to Avni by her parents regarding her properties. According to the will, she needs to be married at age of 21 to release the property to her control and it all goes to her first-born child. I was shocked by this.

"See this, it proves her character. She wants her property so she needs to be married and she knows your weakness, Diya she manipulated her and you started having feelings for her. She is just a cheater and liar Abhi." I listened to her words but I was not registering her words, Avni will not do that, but this will, she could have told me about it.

"Chachi where did you get these papers from?" I asked the question that bothered me. She was looking at the ground and was fiddling with her hands.

"A-Abhi, I-I found them in Vinay's office while I was looking for a file. Please don't tell your uncle or father about it, your uncle will scold me for meddling into things," she begged me and I nodded my head in agreement, I think both my father and uncle knew about it.

"Please give it a thought Abhi, why she kept it hidden? And how many secrets she can have?" She left me to my thoughts. I don't know what I should believe. I heard the sound of footsteps approaching me and I lifted my head in that direction and saw Avni coming towards me with a smile on her face. She came and stood in front of me and was looking at the ground in nervousness.

I threw the papers on her face.

Avni

I found Abhi in the garden area, I approached him slowly and stood ideally having no idea how to start a conversation. Suddenly he threw some papers at me, I was shocked by his sudden reaction. I looked into the papers and paled by seeing the name.

"What is this Avni? I trusted you and you did the same thing like first time by hiding this. I think you are marrying me for your property then why bother having a board meeting and you dragged my daughter into this." He said but his tone has more sadness and betrayal compared to anger.

"Abhi please listen to me. I came here to tell you about this."

"Why didn't you tell me this before? I even agreed to give this marriage a chance, I am such a fool to believe in you again"

"Abhi, shut up!" He quieted and kept staring at me with wide eyes.

"Keep quiet and let me complete, if you speak again I am going to kick you, you got it." He nodded his head blinking his eyes. "Good, we decided to give this marriage a chance yesterday so I was thinking of this from yesterday and how to explain this to you. We were not usual couples where you can share everything, so I needed some time to think properly. So here I am giving you an explanation." He took everything in silence.

"About baby," he questioned in a small voice.

"About that, I have one more personal thing to tell you. I have some rare condition and there are no chances of me conceiving. And I have Diya as my daughter, so want do I need more." I said with a smile on my face. He was not showing any expressions, his face was blank. I felt tears in my eyes.

"Ok, I understand. We will think of this marriage of a business deal from now on. I am okay with it." I tell and turn to leave, I need to leave and have a good cry about it. But Abhi caught my wrist before I can leave and pulled me towards him. He gently cupped my face and lifted my head, I looked into his eyes and found many emotions.

"How did I ignore you Avni? After listening to your explanation, I feel like a fool jumping to the conclusion. Diya and I are grateful to have you in our lives." He leaned forwards and pressed his lips to mine. I felt fireworks all over my body, I lifted my hands to his neck. He deepened the kiss and I opened my mouth to give him access. He tasted sweet and spicy. He pulled out after a moment and I was panting for air.

He placed his forehead over mine and took a deep breath. "Sorry Avni for shouting at you and thank you for giving me your first kiss."

"Avni you won't have that happiness for long, my plan was to sow the seed of doubt in Abhi's mind for your secrets. And I did. I will not bother you until you get married, after your marriage, I will make some introductions and you will suffer. I will kill you but not before you suffer from pain," I laugh into the room seeing them both embrace from the glass window.

Here is your update. I really like this one more, because I felt satisfied writing this. I wanted to add more to this but left it as cliff-hanger to make it interesting.

They freaking kissed!!!! I am not on the ground, I am flying...

And again unknown, don't worry it will be reavealed in two chapters.

And sorry to say this guys but there will be no updates for 10 days, as I have exams. So wait for 10 days.
