IX. Job

Happy mother's day to all the mother's out there.

"Why are you shouting woman", Abhi grumbled annoyingly.

"What do you mean by taking me to your place? Are you trying to get into my pants? It will not work. So better forget about those thoughts. And I know karate", Avni said with fake confidence in her words.

"Ya, you proved it back there", he said without thinking for a second. And felt a pang when he saw her fallen expression.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to I-I j-", Abhi stumbled on his words not knowing what to tell.

"It's ok", Avni said. But Abhi didn't find her okay. He tried to think of things so that he can start a conversation.

"What are your future plans?", he asked suddenly startling her.

"I actually applied for higher education. But I want to do job now", Avni mumbles feeling sad remembering the party.

"Which position are you interested to work for?" Abhi questioned noticing her sad expression.

"I would like to work in something related to business. I always wanted to start my own company", Avni said excitedly with a twinkle in her eyes which Abhi noticed.

"Would you like to be my secretary", Abhi asked the next instant without thinking for a second. Avni looked startled at that question and started laughing thinking that he was joking.

"I am not joking. I am serious. In business field you should start at some level. As you learn things you can go higher. I am offering you", Abhi said.

Avni nodded at that serious in thoughts. It would help her learning about business. That too in her company.

"When should I join?", Avni asked without second thoughts.

"Wow, that much fast. I was here thinking of bribing you with salary and extra benefits", Abhi exclaimed in shock.

"Mmm, I don't want extra salary. But I might want those extra benefits", Avni replied smugly.

"Ok. We will talk about this tomorrow. You should sign some papers. And I want you sober while doing that", Abhi mumbled the last part not wanting to offend her.

"I heard that. I am not drunk by the way", Avni said.

"Ok. And may I know why you went to a club and didn't have a drink", Abhi asked feeling curious.

"I am not comfortable speaking about it", Avni replied trying to not remember about the incident that made her this way.

"Where do you live", Avni asked wanting to forget about it. Abhi understood that and let her be.

"I have a penthouse suit here in our hotel", Abhi replied.

"Congrats, For becoming the CEO of the company", Avni said. To which Abhi's hold on the steering wheel tightened.

"You are not happy about it", Avni stated as a matter of fact after observing him. "May I know the reason?", Avni asked in a low voice.

"You know, I generally don't speak to strangers easily. But I feel like I know you for a long time", Avni flushed at that which Abhi saw. "I wanted to be CEO you know. It has always been my dream. But now I feel like I got it by others charity. And I hate that feeling", Abhi said with anger in his voice. Avni understood him.

"Yes it may be true. But did you do nothing to receive that position. No! I know you worked hard for it. Why don't you consider this as your reward for your hard work. Others may have good or bad intentions. But if you feel like you  deserve the position then why bother about others intentions", Avni said. Abhi smiled at that.

"Wow, you should have been a motivational speaker", Abhi joked feeling better after listening to her.

"Hey, stop teasing me", Avni pouted. They both enjoyed the peaceful silence. It was good for both of them.

They reached the hotel and went for underground parking.  Avni came out of the car and was not shocked because of the views as she have seen them all. Abhi who was observing her expression concluded that it was because she was friends with Akshaya. He carried his sister in his arms. They both reached the private elevator. They went to the penthouse suite and Avni gaped not at the interiors but at the view. The suite was constructed in the top floor. It occupied the whole floor. There was a glass placed to one side and it gave the view of the city. Abhi came back after placing his sister in the guest room.

Avni was still observing the view when he came stood beside her. "You have a beautiful view from here", Avni complimented.

"Yes, it is. But I don't get enough time to admire this", Abhi said making her turn towards him.

Avni saw him holding some clothes. Abhi saw were she was looking and handed her the clothes.

"These are my clothes. I hope you feel comfortable after changing. You can sleep with Akshaya or you can sleep in other room", Abhi said and put the clothes in her hand.

"I'll sleep with Akshaya", Avni mumbled. Abhi guided me to her room and left her.

"If you need anything, I'll be in the room across you", Abhi said and left. Avni sent a message to Anu telling her that she is staying with Akshaya and went to bathroom to take a shower. She removed her clothes and folded them and turned the water hot. She vigorously rubbed her body to remove the feeling of hands on her body. She cried of frustration.  She stood their under the shower head for  30 minutes. She changed into the clothes after drying her body. She laid beside Akshaya and tried to sleep. But she couldn't. She just laid there staring at the ceiling.

She stood after some time. She is dressed in a t-shirt which fell just below her knees and she had some shorts. She found her dress decent. She left for the living room. She wanted to go and speak to Abhi but she didn't want to disturb him. So, she stood near the glass and observed the city below. She yelped when someone touched her shoulders.

"Abhi. You scared me. You should have called me instead of touching me suddenly", Avni exclaimed.

"I didn't know that you were going to react like this", he smirked. "What are you doing here by the way", he questioned.

"I couldn't sleep", Avni mumbled feeling his gaze on her.

"Even I couldn't sleep, you look pretty in my dress", he mumbled the last part. Avni just caught the last word.

"Is anything wrong with my dress?" Avni questioned frowning and looking down.

"No nothing is wrong with it. Now what shall we do as we are not sleepy?" Abhi questioned.

"I don't know. Anything is fine by me", Avni replied.

"Shall we watch a movie?", Abhi suggested.

"Let's watch something funny", Avni suggested.

"The intern, is this okay with you", Avni asked to which Abhi nodded

Abhi started the Tv. He opened Netflix and started the movie. He is not a movie person. He just watched documentaries and action films. He scolded himself for suggesting to watch a movie and now he has to bear with it. He  started the movie but he was not seeing the movie but her. He saw her express various expressions during the movie and he was amused and aroused because of it.

Avni noticed him staring at her during the movie but she ignored it and was enjoying the movie. When the end credits started rolling she started moving her hands and legs to soothe the cramps. After hearing the crack sound she smiled and let them fall back. She heard a laugh and saw that Abhi was laughing at her. She blushed at that.

Abhi saw her stretching and she looked cute while doing that.

"At least we should catch some sleep", Abhi said to which Avni nodded  at that. Abhi switched-off the Tv and   they both left to their rooms. Abhi laid on his bed and was thinking  about her. How his shirts looked good on her. What is happening to him? He should control his emotions. He is just showing her sympathy because of today's situation. Tomorrow he will be back to his previous behaviour.

Avni was having some weird feeling in pit of her stomach like some butterflies in her stomach. She was feeling that she misjudged him. Now she think that her crush on him is back. She slept thinking about him.

Next day she woke up feeling suffocated. She opened her eyes and saw Akshaya sleeping on her. She moved her away from her and stretched her hands and legs. She went to washroom and found an extra toothbrush under the cabinet. she brushed her teeth and washed her face. She set her hair in a ponytail and left to make some coffee. she went to kitchen to find a naked upper body. Avni just at the body glistening in sweat. He was doing something in the kitchen and she was focused on how his muscles tightened. She next stared at a eight pack abs. She kept staring till she heard a voice clearing. She lifted her head and saw him give her a serious glare. She blushed at that.

"Good morning", she wished him trying to forget about the incident.

"Good morning Ms. Arya. I hope you had a good sleep", Abhi asked her in a formal tone. Avni frowned at his tone but ignored it.

"Yes thank you", Avni replied.

"If you need anything help yourself", Abhi said and left. Avni ignored the feeling in her heart. She knew that he was going to act formal now.

Abhi found it hard to maintain strict expression on his face. he just found her too adorable, but he has to keep everything formal. He went to his room and took a bath. He couldn't sleep yesterday because he was thinking of ways to avoid her. Then he hit gym and did workout to avoid his feelings. But seeing her face flustered was enough to bring his resolve down. He need to be strong now.

Avni made a coffee and left to wake Akshaya. Akshaya woke up with a groan. Avni smiled seeing her friend troubled but felt pity when she closed her eyes and frowned. Avni gave her some advil and coffee. After having them both Akshaya was feeling better. Then the questions started.

"Where are we?"

"In your brother's suite"

"Oh my god! he saw me get drunk. He is going to kill me", Akshaya shouted and groaned immediately.  Avni tried to soothe her but she found the entire scene funny.

"It's ok. He will just scold you. Just apologize before he starts scolding", Avni suggested and Akshaya's eyes lit up. She then noticed my dress and her eyes became suspicious.

"You are wearing my brother's shirt", Akshaya stated and squealed in delight. Avni closed her ears at that sound.

"No, nothing happened between us. He saw you at the club and wanted to take you home and I followed you. As of this dress I couldn't sleep with that one so I borrowed his dress. Nothing more", Avni replied in one go already prepared the story.

"Ohh, I wanted you to get together", Akshaya pouted.

"Forget about it. Now you go and freshen up", Avni stated and pushed a reluctant Akshaya into washroom.

Avni sat on bed thinking about Abhi's behaviour in the morning. Akshaya came out of the bathroom freshly showered with just towel around her body. She went into a closet and Avni followed her. There she had all her clothes, Avni was shocked.

"You have all clothes here", Avni exclaimed in shock.

"Yes, I have clothes here for safety you know", Akshaya said as if it is a common thing. She took a dress out and offered it to Avni, which Avni refused.

"No, I don't want your dresses. They are too short for me. Do you have any traditional dresses", Avni asked. Akshaya scoffed at her and searched for it and handed her a dress for me. Avni thanked her and left to get ready. Avni took a bath and changed into the dress.

Avni changed and let her hair fall down. She came out and Akshaya was not there. She left for living room collecting her belongings.

Abhi got dressed and came to living room to find Akshaya sitting on the couch. She looked up as he came out. He ignored her and sat on different couch. He took his phone and started answering some mails.

"Bhai", he ignored her pleas. He felt a tug on his pant and looked up to scold her, but she was kneeling in front of him with an adorable pout and holding her ears. He tried to resist that look.

"Sorry, I will not do it again. Please forgive me this time", Akshaya begged him. He tried to resist it but couldn't and finally gave in.

"Don't repeat it ok", he said and hugged her. At that time Avni entered the room and smiled at the scene and her smile fell when he gave her a glare

He saw Avni enter in a traditional dress. He almost fainted at the sight. She looked like an angel to him. He got his infamous glare on his face and glared at her.

"Shall we leave for the office Ms. Arya".
