VIII. Club

Avni and Akshaya reached a classic restaurant. They both arrived by a cab leaving the brand new car at home. Akshaya kept smiling at Avni as if having great plan. An attendant guided them both after giving their names. Avni gave Akshaya a questioning look. To which she replies, "I made a reservation". Avni just shakes her head at that.

When they both went to a door at the corner, it was a private room. Akshaya nudges Avni to open the door and later one opens feeling suspicious. Avni opened the door only to jump in fright at the sound caused by the confetti and a loud cheer is heard.

"Happy birthday Avni", all the people present in the room shouted at a time. Avni was god-smacked at that. All her friends from high school to graduation were present there. A total of 10 friends were close to her during her studies.

"How did you manage it?", Avni asked Akshaya, her best friend.

"It was difficult but I want to give a surprise for you", Akshaya smiled at her.

"Thank you", Avni hugged her best friend and went around greeting all her friends. She stopped at the last person and grinned from ear-to-ear.

"Happiest birthday queen", he said and kissed me on my cheeks.

"Thank you. How are you baby?", Avni playfully rubbed his cheeks in fake concern.

"Stop it. I know you don't care about me", Avni laughed at the 25 years old man's pout.

"Now stop this drama Nihal. How called you for almost 2 years? Me. And what about you. Whenever I called you what is the thing you say, "I am busy right now and I'll call you later". But did you call? NO", Avni shouted the last part getting the attention of the others in the room.

"What happened?", Akshaya rushed towards her bestfriend.

"You see this fellow over there, was a friend of us once upon a time. Now because of his antics he is not my friend anymore", Avni huffed and crossed her hands over her chest. The others laughed at them knowing their routine. At that Avyan fell on his knees and hold his hands in a pleading manner.

"Please, O kind Madame, forgive me for my ignorant behavior. I cannot survive listening to your hurtful words about me", Nihal begged her in a fake accent.

"This is the last time I forgive you. I don't want repetition again", Avni said strictly. Nihal stood and grabbed Avni's both hands and started kissing them to which Avni giggled.

"Wow, man. You are becoming good at acting. Any new projects", Avni questioned him. But Nihal was focused on the beauty that stood beside her. Akshaya blushed when she felt his gaze on her. Nihal gaze moved to Avni when Avni moved his shoulders for attention.

"Yes, I started acting in a movie. And I am given the lead role", Nihal said to both.

"Wow, this is great. We should celebrate it----", her rambling was forgotten to those both as they kept on staring at each other. Till Avni moved her hands between them. "Why are both staring at each other. Have you forgotten about each other. Akshaya this is Nihal the guy who was my neighbor for 5 years. We even studied in same city. And you Nihal this Akshaya, the girl with nerdy look", Avni said frustrated because of them.

"Ohh", both replied at a time.

"L-let's cut the cake now", Akshaya offers and all cheer at that. Avni being obvious to tension between them. After Avni cut the cake. They all had dinner. They leisurely sat and start speaking up for the lost time.

"Guys, move we are going to club", Akshaya ushers them all to the club present in the hotel with a hesitating Avni following them.

They reached a packed club. Akshaya guided them to VIP section. They all sat in their chairs and ordered their drinks. Avni sat in between Akshaya and Nihal. When it was Avni's turn to order the drink. She hesitated.

"Can I have orange juice please", Avni requested the waitress. "Now stop you two, I just don't drink", Avni replies to both Akshaya and Nihal to which they just shrugged.

"Any special person in your life", Avni questioned Nihal. To which the later one looked at Akshaya.

"You wound my heart. I am waiting for you to accept my love. But there you go and break it to pieces again", Nihal placed his hands over his heart. Avni shook her head at his antics and turned towards Akshaya.

"You see, that man over there always does that to me. But uses me as his wing-woman. He is like my big brother", she smiled at last part.

All the others left the place after some time as they had flights to catch, only leaving Avni with her best friends.

"Do you need to go?", Avni pouted at Nihal. Nihal shook his head.

"No little one I am staying here for another week." Avni smiled at that and turned towards Akshaya.

"And what about you?", she questioned her.

"It depends on my family", Akshaya shrugged her shoulders. "And now we should go and dance", she pulled the birthday girl and went to the dance floor. After sometime Avni loosened up and started dancing and jumping to the beats with Akshaya.

"I need to pee", Avni mumbled to Akshaya. After getting her nod Avni left for the washroom. After completing her business. She washed her hands observing the girls present. They were applying make-up and gushing about two handsome people in the bar. Avni left the place and felt suffocated as the crowd has increased. So she left through the back-entrance to get some fresh air.

She kept roaming forgetting about everything in deep thoughts. She heard some voices and tried to see who those are. Then she observed her surroundings and saw that she was alone with no one near her. She got afraid and started walking back when she heard the cat callings. She started walking fast when someone caught her wrist and pulled her back.

"Where are you running to dear? Come on sit with us", a clearly drunken person with black hair said to her. Avni lifted her head and saw him with other two members.

"Leave me, I need to go", Avni relied with fake bravery hoping that they would not catch that.

"What is the hurry dear, come on let's have some fun", a man with a pot belly said and she was surrounded by them.

"No, please leave me", Avni begged with tears in her eyes.

"Now you are begging, by the time we are done with you. You are going to beg us for more", replied the last person with silver hair.

"No, please I am like your sister. You can't do that to me", Avni replied and pushed the hands starting to touch her.

"You guys hold her hands and lay her down", black haired one ordered others. And they do the same. Avni efforts and struggles nothing compared to the strength of three people. They all ignored her begging. She then started shouting.

"Help anyone! Help! He mmm",  Avni voice got muffled when a hand is place over her mouth.

"Keep something in that bitch's mouth", the black haired one ordered. His hands creeping up her legs. He then tore her dress at the edges and it was used as gag.  All three pair of hands were there on her body and she felt disgusted. She lost hope and laid limp. Suddenly she felt her being pulled up and she stared at blue eyed man with tears running down her cheeks.

Abhi left the party and went to his car. He got into the car and about to start his car when James and Rohan stop him.

"Where are you going leaving your party?", Rohan questioned.

"I don't want to be there", Abhi mumbled simply.

"We are coming with you", Rohan stated and both got into the car. They all left for a club which is owned by Goenkas. They all get inside the club. They directly go to bar.

"Scotch clean", Abhi ordered. And drank his drink in a blink. "Keep them coming", he ordered and stated drinking.

"Wow, stop man this is your fifth one. I think it is enough", Rohan stopped him before he took another drink. "What happened?", he asked the later one.

Abhi chuckled darkly at that. "I got the CEO position. You know that it is my dream right. Now I got it", Abhi shook his head.

"Yes man, you finally got it. We should celebrate this", Rohan said happily.

"NO! It is not . I wanted to get that position after proving my worth. But how did I get it. Because she don't want to be the CEO, I am the choice. He wanted her to be the CEO", Abhi said gritting his teeth.

"Abhi there may be another reason", Rohan tried to convince him.

"No, it is always like this. Everything is done according to her will. Now she don't want to be CEO so I am their option. It is really crazy. My father was same with her mother. Always there when required. He ignored his own family for them", Abhi mumbled the last part.

Before Rohan can reply to that. Two women come near them. The one with the black dress went near Abhi while the other one sat there awkwardly.

"Hey, there handsome", she said to Abhi.

Abhi looked up and saw her. Her make-up was perfect and she had high cheek bones and pouty lips. He observed her from head to toes. She had curves at right places. She is the one Abhi would go for. But everything felt wrong to him. You started liking the other girl. His inner voice said. He shook his head and started making out with the girl without any introduction to forget about a certain brown eyed girl.

His phone rang when he was kissing her neck. In his mind it was Avni.

"Ignore it", the woman said. And he came out of the trance. The woman was breathing heavily. He felt a pang of guilt in his heart but quickly ignored it.

"Come on baby, let's go to a room", the woman said seductively which Abhi thought was not sexy at all.

"Leave now", he ordered her. She was about to say something but seeing the look in his eyes she left. He dragged a hand to his hair. His phone rang again before Rohan can comment about the situation.

Abhi saw the caller id. It was his mom. He signaled to Rohan that he is going outside. He went to a quite place and answered the call.

"Abhi, where are you?", came his mother voice with some relief in it.

"I came to our hotel here. They had some trouble. So I came here", Abhi replied. He didn't want his mother to worry about him.

"Ok. You are happy right. You got the position finally", mom gushed in happiness.

"Yes mom. I am happy. We can have some dinner tomorrow", Abhi tried to sound happy but failed. He was still sober and felt the pain.

"Are you okay? You sound tensed." Abhi tried to come up with an excuse.

"Nothing mom. It is work related. I will not be home tonight. Have your dinner and sleep okay?" Abhi cut the call after telling the final good-byes.

As he turned back to leave he heard some muffled sound coming. He went in search of the sound and found a woman on the ground with three men surrounding her. Her dress is torn in some places and she laid there numb without struggling. Abhi went near them with complete anger and signaled James to follow him. He kicked the guy at her feet. And James took care of the others. He finally saw the woman and was shocked knowing that it was Avni. He slowly pulled her up. He saw tears running down her cheeks. He cleaned them with his fingers. He saw her dress and saw some parts were torn. He removed his jacket and placed it on her shoulders. He was seeing red. He went to the man and started kicking and beating them all simultaneously.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to scold them but stopped when he saw avni trembling.

"D-don't", Avni uttered that single word with trembling voice. Abhi didn't move from his place.

"You a-are g-getting h-hu-hurt", Avni hiccupped. Abhi understood that she was worried about him. He nodded at James to handle the things.

"Come on, let's get you home", Abhi said softly trying make her comfortable.

"But Akshaya is in there", Avni pointed to the club. Abhi got angry that his is sister was inside.

"Come with me", Abhi guides Avni towards his car. "You sit here with keys, I'll get Akshaya with me", Abhi ordered.

"B-but d-don't t-tell h-her about t-this. She will feel guilty because she didn't p-protect me", Avni told him in pleading. Abhi nods at that and left for the club leaving Avni for her thoughts.

Avni was really grateful that Abhi came in time and saved her. She was terrified about what ifs. She was lost in thoughts when Abhi came into the car dragging a barely sober Akshaya. He looked really angry. He placed her in the backseat and came to the diver's seat. Avni observed that he is holding the steering wheel tightly that his knuckles turned white. They were looking bad than before.

"What happened?", Avni asked in a small voice.

"That, first I see my sister's friend getting raped", Avni winced at that. His eyes soften a littile bit. But he continues, "And then my sister is at a place where she should not be. She is not even a bit sober. And was dancing with the biggest playboy on the earth Nihal Bhatt. Do you need to know anything?", Abhi glared at her. But she was not looking at him. She was focusses on the last part.

"Do you mean that Nihal is interested in your sister", Avni asked.

"Yes, he was having that look in his eyes. He is a friend of mine", Abhi told the last part with disgust.

"Do you mean that Nihal knew you and he didn't tell me anything about it", Avni mumbled. "And he is interested in Akshaya. They will make a good pair".

Abhi looked at her and was about to speak but got cut-off, "The looks they were sharing at the party. Now I got them and I am excited for them, I need to tell him I am safe", she ignores Abhi's glare and messaged Nihal that she was leaving with Akshaya and to talk later.

"Your house address?", Abhi asked after some time.

She started giving it, but stopped at the last moment and looked down at her dress.

"Can you drop me at the hotel for the night?", Avni asked him.

"Why".

"I can't go like this to my house and Anu will be terrified if she sees me like this", Avni said.

"Ok", Abhi said. But didn't stop the car when a hotel.

"Hey, stop here. You missed the hotel", Avni asked anxiously.

"I am not letting you stay alone after today's incident. You are going to stay with me", Abhi said shrugging his shoulders.

"What?"
