The White Wolf Series Book 4 â CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE â Do We Really Have To Do This?
(Alexanderâs POV)
âDo we really have to do this?â Mason complained as I was tying my shoes. âYes,â Mike said. âWe are doing this for Sophie. S*uck it up and stop complaining.â
Mason rolled his eyes and sat down on my bed.
âAre Hayden and Danny coming as well?â he asked, making me look up at him.
âYes,â I said. âHunter said that he wanted to meet everyone.â
Mason mumbled something under his breath.
He was annoying the f*uck out of me. I didnât want to do this either and I didnât need his annoying attitude.
âStop acting like that, Mason,â I said. âThis is hard on all of us. We donât need to put up with your attitude as well.â
Mason sighed and ran his f*ingers through his hair.
âI am sorry, okay?â he mumbled. âI am scared. I donât have anything against Hunter, but I am terrified of what his father might do.â
I gritted my teeth.
Hunter said that his father had changed, but did he?
âDo you think that he could hurt Soph?â Mike asked quietly.
I felt a spark of anger inside me. Just thinking about Fia getting hurt had me ready to unleash all the power I possessed.
âI donât know,â Mason sighed. âHe could want revenge. He could use her to get back to our parents. We donât know the man. All we know is that he f*ucking threatened to kill my mom and kidnap my aunt.â
I gulped and stood up.
âHe wonât be able to hurt her,â I said as I grabbed my hoodie and pulled it over my head. âNumber one, I would f*ucking kill him before he tried. Number two, Fia can use her magic to defend herself. Number three, I think that Hunter cares about her. He wouldnât let his father hurt her.â
âJust keep an open mind, Mason,â Mike said. âI know itâs hard, but we have to do it for Soph.â
I smirked and looked at Mason. âHow the hell is your younger brother wiser than you are?â
Mason looked at me and rolled his eyes. Mike laughed.
âCan we just get this over with?â Mason mumbled as he stood up and walked to the door.
Mike and I followed him out of the room.
We walked down the stairs and saw Alpha Hunter talking to my dad and uncle Andrew.
I could tell that both my dad and my uncle were tense, but both had polite smiles on their faces.
Uncle Andrew looked up at us and his smile widened a little.
âAre you ready, guys?â he asked.
âWhere are Hayden and Danny?â Mike asked instead of answering his dad. âHere,â I heard Haydenâs voice behind me.
I turned around and smiled.
âHey, kid,â I said, smiling brightly at him.
âStop calling me a kid,â he sighed, rolling his eyes. âIâm 16 years old.â
âYou will always be a kid to us, kid,â Mason said, chuckling.
Hayden sighed and rolled his eyes at us.
I loved that kid. He was going to be a great Alpha one day.
âWhere were you?â I asked as I glanced at Hunter.
He had a smile on his face and he looked excited.
âJust saying bye to the girls,â Danny said. âHalley and Hazel are with Soph.â
I nodded and looked at Hunter.
âReady to go?â I asked him.
âSure,â Hunter said and looked at my dad. âI will let you know as soon as my dad texts me back.â
âOkay,â my dad said, giving him a small smile. âHave fun, guys.â âLet you know what?â I asked my dad.
I heard Mike, Hayden, and Danny laughing loudly as they were leaving the house. Mason waited for Hunter and me.
âMy family is coming tomorrow,â Hunter said. âMy dad will let me know when they arrive at the border.â
I tightened my jaw and nodded.
Be nice. My dad mind-linked me.
I will. I said. I donât think he is that bad. We will see about his father, though.
We will see. My dad sighed.
I walked out of the house and waited for Mason and Hunter to get out so I could close the door.
Please be nice to him. My sister mind-linked me as we started walking toward the diner.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Why did everyone think that I wouldnât be nice to him?
I will be nice. I mind-linked her back. Maybe you should have that conversation with Mason.
Oh, I already did. Fia said. He promised that he would be nice. You need to make sure that he keeps his promise.
Am I going there to babysit him or to get to know Hunter? I asked.
Both. Fia said, making me roll my eyes.
Fine. I mumbled, closing our link.
âWhat did Sophia say?â Hunter asked, making me look at him.
I furrowed my eyebrows. How the hell did he know that I was mind-linking her?
âHow do you know that he was mind-linking Sophia?â Mason asked what I was thinking.
âHe has this look in his eyes when he is talking to her,â Hunter said, giving me a small smile. âI donât know how to describe it, but I know that he was mind-linking her.â
I nodded and looked at my younger cousins.
âShe said that we should be nice to you,â I answered his question. âShe told me to keep an eye on Mason.â
Hunter snorted.
âShe already told me to be nice,â Mason mumbled. âThere was no need to tell you to keep an eye on me.â
I raised an eyebrow at him. âWasnât there?
Mason rolled his eyes. Hunter chuckled and shook his head.
âI am worried, okay?â Mason sighed. âShe is my cousin and I want her
safe. Sue me.â
I understood him completely. I wanted her safe too. I was worried too. The only difference was that Masonâs tongue was a little bit sharper than mine. I knew how to hold back, but Mason didnât.
âI know that you are worried,â Hunter said. âI canât even begin to explain how happy I am that she has so many people who love her and want her
safe. I want her safe too. I promise that neither I nor my family are a threat.â
Well, we would have to see about that.
