A Face in the Shadows
Between Hearbeats
Abhishekâs skin prickled with unease as he stared at the latest message.
"You think you can hide? Youâre not as clever as you think, Sharma. Timeâs running out."
Whoever was behind this wasnât just trying to scare him anymoreâthey were taunting him.
"Okay," Virat said, his tone all business. "Weâre dealing with a stalker. Someone who clearly has access to your movements, your conversationsâmaybe even people around you."
Meeraâs fists clenched. "We need to track this person down before they do something worse."
Ishan leaned back, arms crossed. "Any idea who it could be?"
Abhishek hesitated. "If itâs someone from my past⦠there are a few possibilities. But nothing serious enough for this level of obsession."
"Or," Meera said darkly, "itâs someone we see every day. Someone who doesnât seem like a threat but knows everything about us."
The thought sent a chill through the room.
Virat nodded. "We need to go through your calls, texts, social mediaâany weird interactions."
"Right." Abhishek took a deep breath. "Letâs start digging."

Later That Night
Abhishek sat on his bed, scrolling through his messages, his head pounding. They had spent hours going through every possible leadâold texts, blocked numbers, even past conflicts. Nothing stood out.
His phone buzzed again.
Unknown number.
His heart pounded as he opened the message.
"Look outside."
A sinking feeling settled in his chest. Slowly, he got up and pulled back the curtain.
His breath caught.
Across the street, beneath the glow of a streetlamp, stood a hooded figure.
Watching him.
Abhishekâs pulse raced. He grabbed his phone and quickly dialed Meera.
She picked up instantly. "Abhi?"
"Someoneâs outside," he whispered. "Watching me. Right now."
A pause. Then, "Iâm coming over."
Abhishek kept his eyes locked on the figure as he reached for his batâhis instincts kicking in.
But thenâ
The figure took a slow step back.
Then another.
And just as Meeraâs car screeched into the drivewayâ
They were gone.

The Truth Comes to Light
By the time Meera arrived, Abhishek was already outside, scanning the street.
"Where did they go?" she demanded, her voice tight with worry.
"I donât know," Abhishek muttered, frustrated. "They disappeared the second you pulled up."
Meera grabbed his arm. "This isnât some prank, Abhi. This is serious."
"I know," he said, running a hand through his hair. "But we still donât know who it is."
Meeraâs face was set with determination. "Then itâs time we find out."
Just then, his phone buzzed again.
Another message.
Meera read over his shoulder.
"You shouldâve never come back. You donât belong here."
Her eyes flashed with anger. "What the hell does that even mean?"
Abhishekâs stomach twisted.
Because suddenlyâhe did have an idea.
Someone from his past.
Someone who wanted him gone.
And if he was rightâ
This was only the beginning.
