Abhishek sat in his car outside Virat’s house, gripping the steering wheel as a slow smile spread across his face.

He had finally made it.

The ICT selection call had come two days ago, and he had barely slept since. He could already picture the moment he’d tell Meera—how her eyes would light up, how she’d throw her arms around him in excitement.

She had been there for every high and low, through injuries and setbacks, never letting him give up. She deserved to hear it first.

But before that, there was dinner.

Virat, his new senior (still can't believe it), had invited him and a few teammates over as a warm welcome. “Just a casual gathering,” Virat had said. “Family and team only.”

Abhishek smiled to himself.
