Chapter 201
The Love From Vengeance
201: LODGE IN, AUNT LUKEâS POV Okay, I literally had no idea how I did it, but I did it. It turns out that the man with the hipster beard was his version of Hercules, and he really beat me. But after the lengthy brawl, I was victorious in the end. I made him unconscious with the strength of Luke Reynold.
But the funny part here was that I actually risked my life and my health for that useless aunt of mine.
Ever since she left my mansion, I thought she was probably dead or something. But I had to see her today. I was not happy to see her face, but I also wasnât happy to witness a man trying to do shit to her.
I hate it when ladies are in such a situation. No matter how much I dislike a certain woman, if I see her being violated, Iâll try my best to save her.
After finishing a battle that seemed like an eternity, I stood near my aunt, my hand covered in blood as I was trying to catch my breath. As I observed the woman seated on the ground, I was moved to the point of feeling pity for her. Her hair was messy, and she looked like someone who had been suffering from hunger for days. Even her dress could say it all.
âWow, you look awful,â I told her, and my eyes widened.
She turned her face away. Itâs not something new anyway. But a little thankâyou would be nice.
âSo, I think I can leave now, right?â I asked.
She didnât give me a reply. She was still looking in another direction. I wanted to leave, but I knew it would be kind of cruel for me. I would be a bad person from my point of view. I couldnât just leave her out here. First of all, there were bandits all aroundâgoodâforânothing robbers. Secondly, she looked like a homeless piece of crap.
Okay, I think that was rude.
âAunt Mariam, why arenât you saying anything?â
I waited for minutes to get a reply, but she was still silent. I wondered what was wrong. Donât tell me she has gone nuts or perhaps lost her memory. Nah, it couldnât be.
âSay something, will you?â
âWhat do you want me to say?â And she finally spoke in her regular tone. Not something new.
âAt least you can thank you.
âOf course, I should thank you. Thank you for ruining my life,â she told me sarcastically.
âIâm sorry, I donât get you. How on earth did I ruin your life?â
âCanât you see my current situation?â
I scanned her pretty well. âYeah, I can see that.â
LODGE IN, AUNT âThis is all your fault.â
âMy fault? How exactly?â
âYou expelled me from your residence and were forced to circulate the nonsense that I poisoned your beloved wife.â
âWhen did I do that?â
âDonât lie to me, Luke. My husband kicked me out of his house because of you.
âIsnât something new?â I shrugged.
âHe took everything for meâthe money he gave me, the car, everythingâand threw me to the streets.â
âWow, okay, now thatâs new,â I uttered, quite surprised. âBut seriously, why would he do that?â
âItâs all because he had to find out that Ariel was poisoned.â
âWell, you were the one who caused it.â
âI wasnât the one who poisoned her.â
âHmm, hmm, then who did?â
âI donât know. She was probably lying.â
âI donât think sheâs going to do that,â I vocalized. âLast time I checked, Ariel isnât the type whoâs going to start saying false things.â
âOh, really, is this how you trust her now? Wow, youâve really fallen in love with that woman, havenât you?â
âAre you going to continue your pointless conversation, or will you accompany me to my vehicle so I can drive you home?â
âYou want to take me to your house?â Aunt Mariam shot me a skeptical look.
âWell, yeah.â
She looked at me for quite a few seconds before she turned her face away. âI donât believe you.â
âWhat? What do you mean you donât believe me?â
âYou might drive me to a forest or something.â
âWhat? Why would you even think like that?â
âBecause you donât like me, Luke. You never did, and you never will.â
âThatâs because you hated me. You never treated me like family. I have no idea why.â
âItâs just my nature.â
âNo wonder your husband kicked you out of his life,â I muttered.
She looked at me immediately. âWhat do you just say?â She must have heard me.
âI was talking about my car keys, I think they must have fallen to the ground.â I lied, scratching my head. âLet me just go get them; you can wait for me until I get back.â
âNo, you can leave. Youâre not useful anyway.â
âIâm not useful. I saved your life. That man could have raped you.â
âOkay, Superman, thank you.â
âIt is not my concern if you choose to continue residing on the streets; that is your decision.â Iâm going.â
As I began to walk away, the sound of a gunshot filled the air, and I heard Aunt Mariam next thing I saw was her hand on my arm.
I turned to her. âWhat happened? You changed your mind?â
âYes. Yes, I did.â
âGood, Iâm glad you finally got some senses.
gasp.
The âHey, just because youâre about to help me doesnât mean that youâre going to be rude to me.
âI canât help it. Itâs just my nature.â I smirked.
She let go of me immediately. âYou know what? You can leave yourself.â
âOh, youâre serious now?â
âYes, I am. Iâll stay here, right here.â She crossed her arms, making a grumpy face and looking away.
âEven after hearing that bullet? Are you sure about that?â
âThereâs no need for you to be acting like youâre concerned for me.â
âConcerned isnât the word I should be using right now. I only felt sorry for it. You look miserable and terrible. Youâve been living in the garage for ages.
âOkay, enough with the insults,â she cut me off.
âIâm only saying the truth. You should go and look at yourself in the mirror but donât worry, youâll do that when we get home,â I stated before turning around.
âI told you already; Iâm going nowhere with you.â
âOh, for real? Are you serious? I thought you were just joking.â
âJokeâs on you because Iâm goddamn serious.â
âNope, the jokeâs on you. Someone might just come right now and point a gun at your head; then itâs 201: LODGE IN, AUNT tons of bullets right into your brain.â
âIâd rather die than go to your house with you.â
âOh really, you know I can just wake that man up and let him force himself on you.â
âWell, itâs better than me being close to you.â
I shook my head. âHow ungrateful are you?â
âAnd how disrespectful are you?â
We heard two more gunshots, and at that very moment, she trembled in fear.
I gave her a knowing look. âSo, are you coming with me?â
She frowned at me for seconds before she finally agreed, âFine, letâs go.â
âIâm glad you had to think things through.â
I turned around and walked away, making my way to my car with Aunt Mariam treading behind me.
