Special ch.6 - Edited Once
I Broke Into The Alpha's House
Joy (Edited Once)
I entered Dadâs office without knocking and saw him on the phone with a serious expression. âDad, is it normal that my wolf hasnât talked to me in almost a week?â I asked as I sat crossed legs on his desk.
âHello to you too, pup!â
âOh, hey, Peter pa. Just the guy I need for my question, but why are you taking over? Is Dad okay?â
âYeah, heâs fine. He just needs a bit of sleep since he has been dealing with pack stuff for the past month, and heâs tired. I decided to let him rest and take care of the pack calls, at least. Anyway, why are you asking about your wolf? Is Mel ignoring you because you fought or something?â Peter asked.
I crossed my arms and sighed. âSheâs been ignoring me, alright, but we didnât fight! She wonât tell me whatâs wrong, and sheâs always jumpy and anxious, which makes me anxious!â
Peter smiled and let go of the phone. âOh, I think I know why... Joy, you are 20, right?â I nodded, and his smile grew wider. âFinally!â
âFinally, what?â
âI believe you will meet your mate soon, pup!â His statement made me freeze.
My mate? Oh, yeah... I forgot about this topic. Exams distracted me for quite a while, but now Melâs behavior makes sense.
âI donât know how to feel about this. On the one hand, I want a mate and have a family. On the other hand, I am scared.â
Peterâs dark eyes changed color, and I knew Dad was back. âScared of what, honey?â He stood up and gave me a tight hug.
I got up from the desk and sat beside Dad on the couch. âI am scared that he might not love me for who I am. I am scared of leaving you and of the âwhat if things go wrongâ situations.â
âJoy, you are my precious daughter. I love you so much. I know these feelings will stick with you until you find him, but itâs normal. I was scared before I found your mom. However, my fear was that of not finding her and not the other way around. So, be grateful that your wolf is feeling your mate, and believe me... he would have to earn my trust before you move out with him. Donât worry. I wonât hand you off so easily!â Dadâs soothing and threatening words calmed me, and I felt Melâs happiness again.
âLetâs go out, letâs go out, letâs go out!â
âWhy now?â
âLetâs go out now!â she yelled.
I frowned, and Dad noticed. âIs it Mel?â
âYes, she wants to go out. See you at dinner time, bye, dad.â
âYou either donât speak with me for a week or donât shut up?â
âYou will thank me later. Letâs go to the basketball court.â
âYou are weird, Mel, but letâs go.â
âHey, Logan.â I saw him lying on his bed with a book in his hand. âMel wants to go to the basketball court near the mall, and I have no idea why. Do you want to come with me?â
âThatâs odd, but okay. Lan wants to smell some fresh air, too, so letâs go,â Logan said and got up. âDo we have to tell mom and dad?â
âI just texted Mom, and Dad knows.â
âLetâs run there!â
âWhy Mel?â
âJust do it!â
âFine.â
âMel wants to run; letâs go. Sheâs freaking me out,â I told my twin brother, and he shrugged.
âSuits me, letâs go.â
âWould you tell me whatâs wrong?â
âNothingâs wrong, donât worry, Joy.â
âThen why are you in a hurry?â
âYou will find out in a minute.â
âMel, you are weird!â
âI got my weirdness from you!â
âShut up, you sassy wolf!â
âHuh, thatâs the best you got as a comeback? You need practice, dear.â
âWhatever, I am not in the mood to argue with you.â
âI could tell that Mel is driving you nuts. What does she want?â Logan asked as we entered the court.
âWe are about to find out. Now, Mel, here we are.â
âSit down and wait.â
âWait for what?â
âJust wait!â
âFine, letâs sit down.â I grabbed Loganâs hand, and we sat down on a bench.
âWait, do you want an ice cream cone?â he asked, looking at the ice cream van near the second entrance.
âSure,â he got up and walked away. I grabbed my phone, checked my upcoming assignments, and almost cried at them. When will they end?
I turned my phone off and gazed in Loganâs direction. He was arguing with a guy instead of seeing him holding cones. The guyâs back was to me, so I did not see his face. I got up and rushed to my brotherâs side if he needed help. However, as Logan wanted to punch him, the most fantastic smell entered my nostrils. âStop!â I yelled, and Logan looked at me.
âWhat do you want, Joy? Let me finish this quick, and I will be with you.â
âNo, Logan. Stop.â I repeated, and the guy faced me. I was startled for two reasons. One, he was Richard, the guy who called my mom a whore five years ago. Two, he was my mate.
âWhy? I want to finish my blow, which got interrupted years ago because of the principle.â Loganâs discourse made me laugh.
âReally, Logan? We broke his nose and hand. I think he learned his lesson, am I right, Richard?â I asked with a smile.
âYes, I was about to apologize for what I did, but Logan didnât give me a chance. I was a stupid kid back then, and I am sorry!â
âYeah, right. Good thing I wonât have to see you again. Bye!â Logan said, and I grabbed his hand.
âJokes on you, brother, because Richardâs my mate.â
âI told you we need to come to this court. I felt his presence. Youâre welcome!â
âI am?â Richard asked with a surprised expression, and we looked at him. I forgot he was human.
âYou know what a mate is?â I asked.
âYes, my dad is a werewolf, but mom is a human. So, I am half-werewolf, half-human. I donât shift, but I have the speed, vision, sense of smell, and the mind-link you guys have, yet since I donât have a wolf in me, I didnât sense that you are my mate, Joy.â He looked at me with the sweetest smile. The boy from school was gone, and now he was a man who was my mate.
âMind blown!â Logan commented, and I laughed. Logan walked ahead of us, giving us privacy.
âWhat do you think your parents would do when they learn about me?â Richard asked and stood in front of me. He was extremely handsome, and I did not notice this years ago because of his awful personality, which has changed. Thankfully.
âNothing, theyâd be very welcoming. Letâs go meet them.â
âAre you sure?â he asked as he rubbed the nape of his neck. I held his hands and felt the sparks. âI felt that,â he added.
âI did too. You look handsome, by the way,â I admitted. I was never shy, so I had no problem sharing my feelings. He, on the hand, was red.
âThank you. You look beautiful, more beautiful than before...â
âMom, Dad! I found my mate!â I called as soon as we entered our home.
âWhat?â They both yelled back and rushed to the entrance. Mom stopped when she saw Richard, and Dad got confused.
âRichard!â Momâs comment made Dad squint his eyes, and then they winded as if a light bulb got lit in his head.
Shit!
âOh, heck no!â
