Chapter 798
The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac)
Chapter 798 âNo, save your money, sweetheart. There will be plenty for you to spend it on in the future.â
Willa did not wish to burden her daughter Kari, nor did she want to be an unnecessary expense. âGet some rest, dear,â she said, and she drifted to sleep soon after.
After Willa was asleep, Kari quietly left.
She ventured into another room. âBrittany, are you awake?â She asked, knocking lightly on Brittanyâs door.
Brittany had been expecting her, âCome in,â she said.
Kari entered, closing the door behind her. She checked it twice before she allowed her shoulders to relax. There was something soothing about the silence that filled the room.
Brittany poured her a warm glass of milk. âWhatâs wrong?â She asked, noting Kariâs troubled expression.
Kari shook her head, accepting the milk. She took a small sip before saying, âBrittany, tomorrow...â
âStill nervous?â Brittany interrupted. The sight of Kariâs pale face was all the answer she needed. âRelax, Kari. You and Nathan havenât been together long, but you know how well he treats you. And now that youâre getting married, nothing will change: Your life will only improve.â
Kari wished it were that simple.
After finishing her milk, she leaned against Brittanyâs leg and closed her eyes. âBrittany, I need to rest.â
Brittany hummed in understanding, gently stroking Kariâs hair. âStay with me tonight,â she offered.
After they both bathed, they settled into bed. But Kari found herself tossing and turning, sleep eluding her while Brittany was already fast asleep.
In the end, Kari slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Brittany. She returned to her own room, where she found a figure sitting in the dark. Just the sight of his silhouette was enough to send chills down her spine.
âYou... Why are you here again?â
The man looked up. âShouldnât a brother bring a wedding present for his sister?â
Kari bit her lip, holding back a gasp. The man was Ronald Malone, the adopted son of the Malone family.
Years ago, he had been sent to prison for assault. Kari never imagined he would be free, especially not now, on the eve of her wedding.
âRonald, you were the one who committed a crime. Iâve never wronged you...â Kari instinctively tried to flee.
But Ronald, a well-known troublemaker with a background in martial arts, was quick to grab her. He pinned her against the desk, his words carrying a cold, frightening edge. âKari, Iâve never blamed you. But you shouldnât be getting married.â
He licked his lips, a devious smirk playing on his handsome face. âKari, you know Iâve always liked you.â
Kari felt a wave of nausea roll over her..
âRonald, Iâve always seen you as a brother. Please, just leave,â she pleaded. âIâm about to get married. I will never have feelings for you.â
Ronald stiffened at her words. His gaze turned predatory, and Kari felt cold fear spike through her.
âRonald, please. For the sake of my motherâs kindness towards you, can you just let me go?â
Ronald had changed. He was once her best friend, her brother, but he became possessive and cruel somewhere along the line. His eyes burned with a dangerous heat, and he forbade her from interacting with any other men.
When she was seventeen, he even picked a fight with a boy who had shown interest in her.
Hearing Kari call him brother only seemed to agitate Ronald further. He gripped her chin forcefully. âKari, I watched you grow up. You must have forgotten how well I treated you all these years. How can you just throw me away and marry someone else?â
His anger was palpable, and he leaned in to kiss her.
In a panic, Kari fought back, her hand connecting with Ronaldâs face in a hard slap. She pushed him away, her voice trembling with fear and disgust.
âRonald, I donât like you. Iâm getting married tomorrow. Just go.â
The last thing she wanted was to see Ronald again. The thought of her brother lusting after her was sickening.
Ronald touched his cheek where Kari had slapped him. He left, but not without a chilling parting word. âYouâll regret this.â
Once he was gone, Kari collapsed on the floor.

The driver got out and opened the door for him. âSir, everything is arranged.â
Ronald actually was the young master of the Hall family in Imperial City. He had been adopted by Willa after being orphaned years ago. It was not until he was in prison that he learned about his true heritage.
Ronald got in the car, the red imprint of Kariâs slap still visible on his cheek. âNo matter what, tomorrowâs wedding must be sabotaged!â âYes, sir.â
