Chapter 633
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âI heard from Jane that you havenât been going to the studio?â
Madelyn pursed her lips. She felt some come up behind her and wrap their arms around her waist. She pinched Zachâs hand to signal him to stop moving.
âSorry, Prof. Monet. Iâve been feeling unwell, so I was at the hospital. I forgot to inform Jane about it.â
âWhat are you down with?â
âJust a mild fever. Iâll be discharged tomorrow,â she replied.
âItâs been raining a lot recently. Stay warm and take care of your health.â
âI will, sir.â
Madelyn waited for Leonardo to hang up before she put her phone away. She wanted to push Zach away, but her struggle was to no avail In the end, she gave up. âHow much longer will you hold me?
There are other people in the room.â
âThey wonât look,â he replied.
Madelyn retorted, âYouâre making me uncomfortable. Let go.â
Zach scrutinized her face. The swelling had almost gone away. Other than the unknown marks on her face, she had almost recovered.
âSheâs gone through so much and been to so many places over the past four years, yet her skin is still so smooth and flawless,â he thought.
He caressed the skin under her clothes with his rough thumb. Madelyn frowned and glared at him in disgust, âDonât push it.â
Zach ignored her words. He held her hand and led her to the dining table. Then, he pulled a chair for her and signaled her to sit. He sat across her and said, âHave some. These were made according to your liking.â
âWhen do you plan on returning to Ventropolis? Do you not have other things to do?â
Madelyn did not have much appetite, so she only took a few bites of the food. She bowed her head to hide the emotions in her eyes.
*Shall I make some more time to be with you?â
âThereâs no need,â Madelyn replied without hesitation.
âBut I want to.â
Madelyn felt annoyed at the thought of how he would be staying in France.
âGo find something to do if you have nothing to do.â
Madelyn ate less than half of the food and set down her cutlery. Then, she took a book and sat on the couch.
She absentmindedly flipped through the book and thought of the odd things Yvonne had said.
âWhyâd she ask me to return to Ventropolis and take a look? What happened at Ventropolis?â she wondered.
Madelyn looked down. A photo had fallen out of the pages of the book. It was a photograph of a landscape she had casually taken at her room door. After she developed the photo, she wrote something behind it, âAfter every storm comes a rainbow.â
When she heard the footsteps coming from behind, she quickly wiped away her tears. She kept the photograph and closed the book. Then, she felt the seat next to hers sink. Zach put one arm around her waist and reached the other out to grab the book.
Madelyn stood up warily and kept some distance from him. She did not want to be in his presence, âStand right there. Where do you want to go again this time?â
Rght after Zach finished his sentence, Cecilia appeared at the door.
Madelyn did not respond and walked past Cecilia.
