Chapter 598
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âEven if you donât forgive me, I want to be by your side. I hope to see you get married to someone whoâs good for you, so even if I die, I die in peace⦠Iâll go heat up your cream soup so itâs ready when you wake up.â
The quiet room was interrupted by the sound of a closing door. Madelyn opened her eyes. She had been awake since Zach left.
Madelyn stared blankly at the ceiling. This was the first time she heard about Haysonâs wrongdoings from someone else.
She always knew Hayson wasnât a good person, but no one ever told her exactly what he had done over the years.
Even if she did nothing wrong, as a member of the Jent family, those victims would seek revenge on her.
She had to bear all this just because she was Haysonâs daughter. She didnât even have the right to blame others.
But that doesnât mean she could forgive everything Rosario had done and act like it never happened.
Rosario finished warming the cream soup and was about to bring it to the room. Seeing the light on, she paused at the door, just watching Madelyn for a moment.
Then, she turned and asked another servant to take the soup in.
âMs. Jent⦠Youâve been sick all day. Eat something.â
âGive it to me.â
After seeing Madelyn finish the soup, the servant took the empty bowl and left the room.
Rosario, content, went back to her room.
Madelyn thought all night but couldnât make sense of everything.
She quietly packed her things, and by early morning, she went to the hospital where Hayson was.
Seeing Madelyn, the bodyguard quickly said, âMiss Jent, Mr. Arnold was worried when you didnât answer his call.â
Madelyn nodded softly and went into the hospital room. She asked the nurse to leave, so she was alone with Hayson.
He was awake but couldnât speak and couldnât move on his own yet.
Madelyn looked at her hands, searching for words. She wanted to say something important. After a while, she finally said. âI came to tell you Iâm calling off my engagement with Ethan⦠Donna and he have a child now. We canât be together. Iâm planning to leave Ventropolis and might never return.
Dad⦠even If you never treat me as your daughter⦠Iâm sorry. I just want a simple life. I donât want any more conflicts or to be used for political marriages.â
As Madelyn was about to leave, the bodyguard handed her a phone, âMr. Arnold wants to talk to you.â
She took the phone.
Ethan said, âWhy didnât you call me back last night? Do you know how worried I was?â
Madelyn bit her lip, looking at the brightening sky outside, âEthan⦠letâs talk.â
There was a pause on the other end of the line.
Ethan, looking at his child connected to IV drips, rubbed his forehead and replied, âOkay, Iâll come to you.â
Madelyn said, âNo, Iâll come to you. Itâll be easier.â
Ethanâs heart felt heavy, and with a deep voice, he responded, âAlright.â
