~CHAPTER 6~

*•*•*•She's not even my bio mom•*•*•*

It's currently 5 a.m. on a Friday morning. I've found myself spending most of my time in the soccer field. Right now, I'm running laps around the soccer field because I've decided to keep busy since I don't want to go to sleep again. Every time I go to sleep, I get a fucking nightmare. Those bitches are only getting worse, they're coming every night. This time, Chase didn't wake up. When I woke up at 4 a.m. I put on my sports bra, some shorts, and my running shoes. I've been running for almost an hour when my legs start to feel like jelly. I go to the bleachers and lay down, but I get up when I feel the presence of another person in front of me. I open my eyes to see Cole in running clothes.

"What are you doing here?" I say while panting a little.

"I run here every morning. What are you doing here?" he has a worried look on his face, but I decide to ignore it.

"I felt restless." I said not telling him the whole truth about me having nightmares.

"Ah, I know the feeling." He smiles at me and stands up to leave.

"I'm going back to the dorm to take a shower while the bathroom is still empty, so I don't have to run into anyone." I say pointing my thumb in the direction of Fredrickson Hall, he nodded in agreement and looked at his phone. I'm guessing he's looking for music. "See you later Cole." he waved at me and then continued running.

When I started walking back to the dorms, I realized that I had never talked to Cole before. He always talks to Chase and Lucas, but never to me, so this was our first official conversation.

I enter Fredrickson Hall and climb the stairs to the fourth floor because they still haven't fixed the elevator. I get to my room and see no sign of Chase, maybe he likes to run too. I get my stuff and make my way to the bathroom while listening to some music. I enter the bathroom and turn on one of the showers. I start to undress myself while I wait for the water to get hot.

I start washing my hair and take my time because nobody is going to enter at this hour or so I thought. Once I finished my shower I go to reach for my towel, but it's not there, I then remember that I left it at the sink. I run out of the shower and crash into somebody making us both fall to the floor. What is it with me and crashing into people?

"Ay, coño eso dolio" I mumble to myself while the person underneath me groans. I looked down to see who I crashed into and see Chase right there underneath me.

Translation: Ah, damn that hurt

"Shit, cover your eyes." I yell at him. He covered his eyes and I got off of him.

"Why the fuck are you naked?" He screamed so loud I wouldn't even be surprised if the whole school heard him.

"I forgot my towel at the sink." I ran to the sink and quickly covered myself.

"So, you decided to make a run for it?" he got up with his eyes still covered.

"Kind of, yeah." I wrapped the towel around myself making sure nothing is visible.

"You can look now." I said once I made sure that the towel was covering my entire body. He uncovered his eyes hesitating a little, and sighed once he saw that I was fully covered.

"Why would you make a run for it?"

"Because I didn't know there was a pendejo running around the bathroom." I point at him because let's be honest, he's an idiot.

"A what?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"I didn't know that there were going to be people in the bathroom." my eyes trailed down to his torso, until I reached the towel that was hanging incredibly low on his waist. I don't particularly like the guy, but even a blind person can see how hot he is. I get snapped out of my thoughts when I hear Chase say something. "What?" I asked.

"I said that you should take a picture, it'll last longer." He smirked and I rolled my eyes ready to leave. I turn around and grab my toiletries.

"I'm leaving." I start to head out of the bathroom but turn around when I hear footsteps behind me. I see Chase following me and I give him a questioning look. "Why are you following me?"

"Because we live in the same room. You now, I thought you were smarter Madelyn."

"It's Maddison, and I know we live in the same room dumb-ass. Why are you following me if you aren't going to come in at the same time?" if he thinks he's changing at the same time as me, he's crazy. I'm not changing in front of him, much less if he's my roommate, that would just make things awkward.

"Who says I wasn't?" He asked raising an eyebrow. What is it with him and raising eyebrows? Seriously, it's annoying.

"I do, because I'm not changing in front of you."

"I'm not staying inside the bathroom." Why does he always have to be so complicated?

"And you're not coming in the room."

"Fine." He says rolling his eyes and walking out of the bathroom. We get to the door of our room, and he looks at me as if he's waiting for me to do something.

"What are you doing standing there? Get the keys." He says.

"I don't have the keys, I forgot them inside the room." I said and he ran his hand down his face groaning. He looks at me and the look on his face told me we're screwed. "You don't have the keys?" I panic. We're naked, with nothing but our towels, and he doesn't have the keys?!

"No, I never bring them with me and always leave the lock open." I gave him an 'are you stupid' look.

"I forgot them inside the room, and I locked the door on my way out." I look around and see guys staring at us while they walk out of their rooms and head to the showers. "We're screwed, aren't we?"

"Yes we are."

After a very awkward 10-minute walk to the school's main office, we finally made it. We had gotten weird looks from other students, and I honestly didn't expect any less from them. We're literally walking in our towels. We're now sitting in the uncomfortable office chairs waiting for Mr. Cooper to come into the office, while Astrid just looks at me with disgust. That bitch really hates me doesn't she? What have I ever done to her? In that moment Mr. Cooper enters the main office breaking me from my thoughts.

"Hello, Astrid." He says but doesn't notice we're here until I clear my throat and he looks our way. His eyes widen and I smile at him while waiving my hand and stand up.

"Hi, Mrs. Cooper."

"Hello, Maddison. Chase." He nods at him, and Chase gives him a little wave. Mr. Cooper looks at me confused. "To what do I owe this- I don't know what to call it."

"Este idiota dejo su llave en el cuarto y a mí se me olvido la mia. El problema es que yo cerré el pestillo del cuarto antes de irme a bañar y ahora no podemos entrar." I sigh and they both look at me as if I just grew two heads. "In other words, or language, he left his key in the room and I forgot mine, so now we're locked out."

"Okay, let me just go get the spare keys." He said and I thank him. He came back with one key and told us to take care of it. We picked up our toiletries and started to make our way to Fredrickson Hall earning us more stares than before because we're deeper into the day, and students are already heading towards the dining hall.

We finally make it to the dorms and after this morning's events, I don't even care if he's in here while I'm changing.

We finish changing when I hear a knock at the door. I open it while looking down and fixing my tie, when I look up, I see the boys standing there. They come in, and as always, they sit down around the room and start talking about random stuff. I've gotten used to them being around me, apparently this was their hang out spot before I got here because Chase didn't have a roommate; it's kind of nice. They keep talking when Lucas says something that catches my attention.

"Bro, everybody's talking about how they saw you and Madds walking around in towels this morning." Lucas says and I smile at his nickname for me. Aww, he's warming up to me. Chase clears his throat and starts talking.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah, apparently you and Maddie took a little field trip in your towels, to Mr. Cooper's office." I choke on my own saliva and start coughing like crazy. They all look at me and I point at the water bottle I have on my nightstand. Lucas reaches for the bottle and gives it to me. I drink a little while they look at me with wide eyes.

"You may continue." I say casually and start to pack my backpack.

"Anyways, is it true?" I finished packing my stuff and turn to look at them, now interested in Chase's answer.

"I don't recall the events of this morning." Chase said shaking his head.

"Lies" Lucas says while coughing. I chuckle but quickly cover it up as another cough when the boys looked my way. "What about you? Do you recall the events of this morning?" he asked me and I nodded. "Well, tell us then."

"Oh, I know what happened, but I'm not really into teen drama and all that shit, so if Case over there can't tell you I guess it'll have to remain a mystery to you all." I smile when I heard Chase correct me and Lucas whined.

"Come on, we don't get nothing?"

"Nope." I say popping the p.

"Why not?" he asked, and we all start gathering our stuff to leave.

"Because." I say not really knowing what excuse I can use.

"Because...?" he drawls out the word while making a questioning face

"Because I don't want to." We start to leave and I tell Chase not to forget the keys. He passes me mine while mumbling a 'Yeah, yeah'.

"That's not a reasonable explanation." He argues and this goes on like this for about 8 minutes until we get to the dining hall. I start getting annoyed and burst.

"FINE!!" I yell as we enter the dining hall, and he gets excited. "I forgot my keys and he left his, so we had to get a new one at Cooper's office. End of story."

"Boo, that was a terrible story." He complains. You really can't win with Lucas, can you?

"Well, you wanted me to tell you and I told you." I spot Liz and go sit with her. I hear footsteps behind me and turn around to see that the boys following me. I keep walking to the table, and I guess this is our new thing now. We all sit at the table and Lizzie was going to say hi, but she stopped when she sees that the guys are sat down.

"Hello?" I can tell she's curious as to why they're sitting here, but I give her look telling her to ignore it and she nods.

"Hey."

"So, since it's Friday, the seniors get three hours off today." She says smiling at me, and I smile back.

"Hey girls, and boys?" May gives me a curious look just like Liz did. A chorus of 'hey' and 'hi' come from the table while she sits down next to me. "Did you guys hear that there's a parent teacher meeting in two weeks?" She asks and the guy's groan.

"I don't understand, why are parent teacher meetings so bad?" everyone seems to hate them, so there must be something wrong with them, right?

"Darling, this is a school for the troubled and the scandalous. If we don't do the stuff we're meant to do, the teacher tells our parents, and when our parents find out, they punish us." Liz says and I suddenly understand the hate towards these meetings.

"I think the only thing I could hate from parent teacher night is the parent." I may have apologized to my mom for the way I acted two weeks before we got here, but I'm still mad at her for not even considering how I felt about moving here for a whole year.

"Why don't you love your parents?" Lucas ask.

"The only parent figure I have left is my stepmother, but she's not even my bio mom, so I'm not particularly in love with the idea of seeing her in two weeks." I mumble and continue eating my breakfast. They all look at me with wide eyes. "What?" I just realized what I said. I practically just told them that I'm an orphan. None of them are saying anything, they're just staring at me. "Somebody say something, please."

"Who wants to hear the story about what really happened this morning?" Chase asked changing the subject and I've never been more grateful of this idiot.
