Chapter 188
I Kissed My Professor And He Liked It
Lilaâs POV Telling from Enzoâs face, he had no idea that his mother was in love with Felicityâs father. My heart ached knowing that it was a love story that could never be.
âYou loved him?â Enzo asked, his voice sounding hollow.
Dianna blinked away the tears that formed in her eyes and slowly nodded.
âIt happened suddenly,â she explained. âHe was the only one who was kind to me and the only one who wanted to help me. He loved me enough to let me go and I never forgot about him. I trusted him with you, so I let you go with him when he came for you. I knew with Blaise being gone and most of his men taking off in fear that Bastien would end their lives, that the Calypso Pack needed a strong leader.
Marvin was strong, but not as strong as a true Alpha. You have true Alpha blood, along with some Volana blood. He understood that even though you were young, you were destined to become the strongest. He wanted to train you as early as he could, and I agreed to it.â
âI donât understand...â I breathed, finally finding my voice. âWhy didnât you go with him back to the pack?â
âBecause Paul and his crew were still out there somewhere. I wouldnât be safe regardless of who was around to protect me. Plus, my village is my home now. My villagers are relying on me to keep them safe. In a way, I am their leader as well. Without their powers, they are vulnerable to attacks. I couldnât risk their lives.â
I looked up at Enzo with tears in my eyes.
âWhat about my father? He could help keep them safe. If he knew that Blaiseâs crew was still running around and causing issues like thisââ
âHe knows,â Enzo stopped my words, meeting my eyes. âThereâs nothing he can do right now. Paul is very powerful and has dark witches on his side. His crew is growing stronger and doubling in size before our eyes. Thereâs also no telling where they are all hiding but I do know one thing for sure... Paul wonât stop until he gets my pack and the powers of a Volana wolf.â

âHe wants to be strong because he spent so long feeling weak in comparison to Baise,â Diana said, shaking her head with pity lingering in her eyes. âItâs a shame because he had the potential to do great things. But greed ruined him.â
âSo, what exactly is the plan? To allow Paul to terrorize Volanas and those around the kingdom? To keep your mother and the others outside the borders of the pack because itâs too dangerous?â
âTo continue training and building my reputation,â Enzo answered. âIâve been making myself known around the wolf world and obtaining respect. Iâm building my own army to overpower Paulâs. Iâm not just stopping at making the Calypso pack safe. Iâm trying to make the entire world safe.â
My heart fluttered in my chest at his words. I knew he had big goals for his future, but I had no idea to what extent.
âRight now, there are a lot more against us than for us,â Diana continued to explain.
âI want my mom to be able to return to society with the others. I want you to feel safe outside of Elysium. I want men like Paul to pay the ultimate price for everything they have put you, my mom, and others like you, through. Itâs going to take some time, but I foresee a better future.â
I couldnât keep them in anymore; tears fell from my eyes as I wrapped my arms around him, pulling myself close and nuzzling my face in his broad chest. I soaked him in; his scent, his warmth, everything he had to offer me at that moment.
âIâll be right by your side through it all,â I whispered to him, allowing my tears to freely fall down my features.
He held me tightly, running his fingers through my hair.
âThatâs exactly where I want you,â he murmured against me. âIâm sorry for keeping all this from you.â
I gazed up at him.
âI understand why you did,â I said with a fond smile. âBut now you donât have to go through any of this alone.â
He leaned down and kissed me gently; his lips tasted incredibly sweet and made my heart pound violently in my chest.
Dianaâs tired yawn brought me back to reality and I turned to look at her.
âWe should go so you can get some rest,â I told her gently. âThank you so much for talking with me and telling me everything. Iâm so glad I was able to meet you.â
She gave me a soft smile and reached for my hand; I took it without hesitation.
âI didnât get rid of my powers because I hated them. I wasnât ashamed of myself and where I came from.
None of us were. I did it to protect my son and myself just as others did it to protect themselves and those they love. I hope you donât think less of me because of it.â
âI know exactly why you did it,â I said, lowering my tone. âI think you were incredibly brave.â
We stayed like that for a moment longer before I released her hand, allowing Enzo to approach her and kiss her gently on the forehead.
âI love you,â he whispered to her. âIâll be back later to see you. I just want to make sure Lila gets back to school.â
She nodded and watched as we left her hospital room. Enzo took my hand and pulled me alongside him. I leaned my head against his shoulder, suddenly feeling tired. But I knew I had to drive to the academy tonight, that way I could make it to my classes tomorrow. It wasnât a good look that I missed today, despite having permission from the school board.
Just as we were leaving, I spotted Felicity from across the halls and an unsettled feeling grew in the pit of my stomach.
There was something about the look she was giving me that told me this wasnât over between us.
...
Enzoâs POV With everything going on between Lila and my mother, I completely forgot about my talk with Felicity earlier. That was until I spotted her at the nurseâs station as we were leaving the hospital.
The memory of my talk with her surfaced in my mind; it was a strange encounter. Her eyes darkened and it looked like she was in some kind of trance. I was prepared to use my Alpha command on her if she refused to apologize to Lila. But I didnât.
However, it seemed as if she was still locked in some kind of trance that I had put her in.
She gave me a voided look just before she went into my momâs room and knelt before Lila, offering her a sincere apology.
It was out of character for someone who wasnât alpha-commanded.
If she was Alpha commanded, it would have made a lot more sense. My pack members canât refuse an Alpha command. Itâs often too painful for them to resist; I only use that Alpha ability when necessary.
But in this case, she did this willingly.
Looking at her now though, Iâm starting to doubt her apology was a willing action.
Something else was at play and put her in a trance to obey me, without me using the Alpha command.
But what?
