Chapter 26 -25-
The Deadly Alpha
The sunlight came all at once - not a steady dawn or a trickle of rays. It came like the switching on
of searchlights from a chopper; violent and harsh.
Hand in hand, the Alpha and I were walking back to our mansion where we summoned Kayla to
come, I hadn't been talking to her recently as much as I did before, she was out of sight most of the
time or busy at work.
The guards were taking care of Kavin behind us as fields of green and flowers peeked at us as we
passed by. I told Alpha that we needed to be sure that he was actually Kayla's mate. He argued that
there was no way that he could ever let him step foot but with my hard steel eyes, he gave up the
argument, telling me that Kayla would go with him, not the other way around.
Kayla came just in time as she bowed to us and looked up to receive the news but when she met
Kavin's eyes, all battles resolved as she ran to him and hugged him.
"Mate." She hollered as the scents mixed in around us affectionately. It was a glorious sight in front
of us, I and Alpha weren't exactly like that at first sight.
"So that's verified, Kayla, pack your bags and go with Kavin.â Alpha chose his decision based on the
protection of the pack but Kavin seemed to rebel.
"No, we will both stay here as we don't have any pack to go to." Kavin supported his disapproval,
something was really cryptic between Kayla and Kavin, I thought long and hard until I whispered in
Alpha's ear.
They are both tricking us, the scents are fake.
Bellows of the Alphaâs authority made the trunk of the trees shake in worry. My eyes turned into
yellowish-gray as I blinked and the surge of power rushed out to meet the partners, Kavin and
Kayla, they both immediately died as their bodies collapsed. It was the curse that did this by
purpose due to Alpha's choler.
The pack members surrounded the bodies in ire because Kayla was a known hard worker, it
saddened me that she had to trick us to be with him, Alpha would have also killed them if I didn't so
there was no difference at all, it was a crime to murder or trick other pack members, especially an
Alpha or a Luna.
Rage ignited a severe fire inside of me as my mind jumbled up all insults at the fake couple, they
deserved it for attempting that silly play.
They were blockheaded enough to go through it. Lace growled protectively for our mate.
The pack members had the audacity to shout at us, the Alpha and I, for a traitor. God, we almost
believed her. The Sterlight were quick to judge and honestly, I didn't blame them because they saw
their own Luna committing suicide and they had to endure an Alpha's depressed torment, it was
unfair to them but they had to know their place.
"Enough," I shouted as my eyes tinged yellow, I breathed in and out as the tiny heartbeat went
faster and I didn't want to cause distress to my unborn baby.
They all stared at me in fury and I suppressed the urge to beat them all, blame the crazy hormones
of fast pregnancy.
"Listen, I understand that you didn't want Kayla, a beautiful and dedicated worker, to die but she
almost harmed us and faked a mating,â they all gasped with their hands slapped to their chests as
their eyes shook with fear, "it was a crime to be punished for because here in Sterlight, we don't
play a child's game, all of our fates are hung on in this pack, I sensed her thoughts, she had no
excuse to the felony she did.â I coughed as my voice dimmed a bit out if tiredness for shouting so
much.
Alpha held me as he growled at his pack members as they bowed their heads apologetically.
"Shame on you all, you have drained a pregnant Luna and just so you all are aware, if anyone tries
to do what the reckless girl did, all will be punished like that.â The Alpha raged as he took me to the
mansion to rest my aching stomach.
We went inside the mansion and remained in each other's warmth as my emotions took a downfall
when I remembered my sister, the surge of guilt awakened inside of me.
"It's all my fault.â My lower lip trembled as he took my hand and stroked my hair.
"Baby," his hurricane eyes went lighter, "it's not your fault at all, we had to free her soul by letting
her join your parents up there, you saved her life." He kissed my forehead as my feelings composed.
"I wish all troubles went far away from us.â I sighed into his chest as we both laid together,
separated by my bump and legs tangled.
"I know baby but I won't let you go, ever." He serenely whispered against my lips as we both shared
a blissful kiss.
"And I won't let you go, I wish I knew your name.â My voice said breathlessly. His eyes held humor
as he scrunched his nose and gazed at me as I smiled at him.
"I wish you knew, Desti." He agreed as he interlocked our hands and we both closed our eyes,
counted our blessings with each other and shared a sweet and simple nap.
