Chapter 50 - The promise

Hurricane

Rose's POV

I was waiting in the hall in front of the emergency room with Alec after the doctors had checked up Alec and me. As soon as we arrived, they took Troy to the emergency room. I refused to go with a nurse, telling them I wanted to stay with Troy, and I was fine, but they didn't let me, saying I was in a bad state.

I lifted my head up as I heard my name. Troy's parents, his siblings and Romeo rushed towards me.

"Where is Troy?" Serena asked in panic while crying.

"In the emergency room..." I mumbled without managing to stand up.

"I will talk to the director of the hospital. He would help us to get information about Troy's condition and tell us if we need to find another doctor to help or if the doctor who takes care of Troy is the best or not." Aspen stated firmly while worry and fear were seen in his eyes.

"I am coming with you." Liam said, and they left together.

"Are you okay?" Sienna asked me in worry as she approached me while Serena stood beside me.

"I...don't know." I muttered as I wiped the tears off my cheeks and stroked my son's hair gently while he was hugging me tightly, leaning against me.

"Alec, do you want something to eat? Maybe something sweet? Chocolate? Auntie will buy you what you want. Let's go to the cafeteria." Sienna asked softly and stroked Alec's cheek.

He shook his head, tightening his grip around my waist, and refused. "No, I will stay with Mommy."

"Fine, dear." Sienna nodded and kissed his cheek tenderly. I gave her a grateful look as I understood she wanted Alec didn't see us in this state.

I didn't know how long it passed, but it looked like eternity. We were still waiting for the doctors to walk out and inform us about Troy's state.

Aspen and Romeo were pacing back and forth while Liam and Sienna were sitting on the seats opposite of us. Serena was sitting beside me, lost in her thoughts while tears were running down her cheeks. Troy's friend, Nathan and Charlotte were here too; they arrived a few minutes ago.

"Mommy!" Alec pulled my dress, interrupting my thoughts.

"Yes, my boy?" I looked at him, worried. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, but... will Daddy die?" He asked sadly as tears shimmered in his eyes.

"No, honey. Don't think about it." Serena intervened as I looked at my son without managing to say anything, and she gave him a tender smile, stroking his hair affectionately. "Your daddy is so strong. He will be fine. We just need to pray for him that he gets well soon." Serena added softly. Alec nodded and leaned his head against me. I stroked his back gently and held his little hand.

A few minutes later, the door opened, and the doctor walked out.

"How is my son?" Aspen asked, worried as we approached the doctor.

"We managed to remove a bullet from his body. His condition is stable now." He gave us a warm smile.

I cried in happiness and hugged Serena who was crying in relief. After pulling back, I took my son in my arms and hugged him tightly, reassuring him that his father was fine. Meanwhile, others were hugging each other happily.

A few weeks later

Today, Troy finally left the hospital. His health was better now. I felt so relieved. I was so scared of losing him.

We were in his penthouse. Serena suggested we stay in the mansion for a while till Troy got back to his normal life, but Troy refused, saying he felt better and wanted to go to his penthouse.

After cooking him the chicken soup, I went to the bedroom, holding the tray in my hands.

Troy gave me a warm smile as he leaned against the headboard carefully.

"You are spoiling me. I will get used to it and always want it." He said in amusement, grinning.

"I will still love you even if you are a spoiled guy." I gave him a bright smile as I sat down beside him on the bed. I grinned. "I made you the chicken soup. Hope you will like it." I added softly.

"Of course, I will. You made it." He gave me a dazzling smile.

I beamed at him and extended the spoon towards him. "Open your mouth."

"Oh, you will feed me as well. Should I get shot again?" He teased me. "I like your attention towards me so much. You have been taking care of me like a child the last few weeks." He added, holding my hand, and gave me a grateful look.

"Don't even dare to think about getting hurt again!" I warned him. "I have never been that helpless and scared before. It was a real torture to me while I was waiting for you in front of the emergency room." I admitted honestly, squeezing his hand.

"I will not leave you and my son. I will always be with you. Don't forget I promised. And I always keep my promises." He assured me and winked at me.

I gave him a warm smile as I brought our entwined hands towards my lips and placed a soft kiss on his hand. A mesmerizing smile appeared on his face.

"Come here." He said softly, pulling me towards him. I nodded as I placed the tray on the bedside table and hugged him. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and placed a soft kiss on my forehead.

A few minutes later, the doorbell hummed. I pulled back and went to open the door. Probably, it was Serena.

"Mom?" I mumbled in surprise as I opened the door.

"Hi. May I come in?" She asked uncomfortably.

"Of course. Welcome." I stepped aside, allowing her in.

"How is Troy? I am sorry. I wanted to visit him before, but... after all these things, I... I thought it would be better if some time passed. And I needed to handle other things..." She sighed, shaking her head.

"He is better. Thanks. Glad you are here. Are you okay?" I asked, concerned. "You look...odd."

"We have to talk. I have important things to tell you. But I want to talk to Troy before." She replied, giving me a slight smile.

I nodded and showed the way to the bedroom.

"Mrs. Allen?" Troy looked at her, surprised. "Hello."

"Hi, Troy. How are you?" My mother asked, concerned.

"I am fine. Thanks." Troy gave her a warm smile.

"Sit down, Mom." I gestured to the couch. "Would you like something to drink?"

"No, thanks." She refused and sat down on the couch. I nodded as I approached Troy and sat down beside him on the bed.

"I want to apologize for Kate's behavior. What she has done is unacceptable." She gave us an apologetic look. "I still can't believe how she..." She sighed, shaking her head.

"It isn't your fault." Troy said softly. "Yes, we could have never thought she was able to get this far." He held my hand as he continued. "However, I will do everything that she pays for it. She could hurt Rose or Alec. I am sorry, but I will do everything to keep her away from my family."

"I understand. She needs psychological help. Normal person couldn't do it." My mother sighed sadly.

"Yes, you are right. So it is so important that she stays where she is for a long time." Troy stated firmly. "I told your husband about it, but he is still insisting that I don't file the complaint, but it is out of the question."

I looked at Troy in shock. He didn't tell me that my father called him and asked him about this.

"Why didn't you tell me? I couldn't believe what my father asked you to do." I commented angrily. "She almost killed you! Did he wait for us to congratulate her?! Of course, she will pay for her actions." I stated, determined. I breathed deeply, trying to calm down while Troy squeezed my hand, and added as I turned my gaze from Troy to my mother. "I am sorry, Mom."

"I understand, honey."

"So after you have refused, he called me." I muttered and forced a smile. "As always he blames me. He dared to call and say it was my fault." I shook my head in disbelief.

"What?!" Troy exclaimed angrily, clenching his fist. "I will talk to him. He will not bother you again." He gritted his teeth.

"No, Troy. It isn't important anymore. I told him not to call me or come near me."

"No, it is the last straw. I haven't said when he treated you and my son badly the last time, but this time I will not keep my calm." Troy stated firmly.

"You can't change him. He was always like this. I don't just understand how he could do this to me, his own daughter. Why does he always blame me and treat me like this?" I commented sadly.

"He... he isn't your father." My mother confessed uneasily.
