Vihan's POV

On the other hand, Roohi and Garv ate without issue, so I knew this was Ron’s handiwork. But I forced myself to eat every bite, even as my stomach churned in protest.

But I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing me falter.

I looked at him, he had a wicked smirk on his face. I smiled at him and winked.

"Wow! I am so overwhelmed that Ron is trying to make me feel so welcome. I want you to share this with me as I am so touched. " I said with a smile, offering a cutlet to him.

" I would have loved to... But I already had more than enough snacks as I was starving when I came back from the office. I know how hungry you must be, please, I insist that you finish all this. You see, my mom and Chachi are both fabulous cooks. You must finish it or they may feel  bad." He said.

Devil!! Satan!!

I ate every bite with a forced smile, ignoring the burn in my throat and the twist in my stomach.

Ron looked astonished that I was eating it, he was sure I would not, but I could do at least that much for Roohi. And I felt that I won there, after looking at Ron's reaction.

Roohi, however, seemed oblivious to the tension. She laughed and chatted with Garv, her usual warmth on full display. It made my chest ache in a way I couldn’t quite explain.

Ron, however, wasn’t done tormenting me. “Have some more, Vihan,” he said with a sly smile, pushing another plate toward me.

I accepted, matching his smile with my own. He looked shocked. Two could play this game.

But, I could not keep all the disastrous snacks in me anymore so I excused myself and rushed to the washroom. I threw everything out, rinsed my mouth, and splashed some water on my face. I came out, and Priya Aunty asked me if I was all right; I nodded and looked at Roohi.

I was hurt a bit to see that she was so engrossed in talking with Garv and everyone else that she was not bothered that I might not be feeling well the way I had rushed to the washroom.

Just then Garv asked her family if he could take her out for dinner as they would like to spend some time alone alone to get to know each other.

What the hell!!! I did not want him to take her out before I could talk to her.

Her dad and Rahul uncle looked at her Mamu, Sujoy uncle, because he knew Garv's family, he nodded so her family permitted him to take her out.

They got up to go out.

No!!

" I think, I must leave too," I said.

" But why? You can have dinner with us." Priya Aunty and Rahul uncle insisted, but I had to leave.

" Yes, spend some time with us now that you are here. " Ron said Sujal and Raj looking at him as if he had grown two heads. But I could not blame them. Even I was shocked why was he being so polite with me in front of everyone?

Anyway, I had more important things to do than worry about Ron's pretentious affection towards me all of a sudden.

" I am sorry, I need to go to hospital, I just got a call from the hospital, I need to go. " I said and everyone nodded.

Both Garv and Roohi also started going out. My stomach was in knots, but my resolve was stronger than ever, my frustration had reached its peak. I couldn’t stand the thought of leaving her with someone like Garv, someone who didn’t truly understand her, Roohi deserved more—she deserved someone who truly understood her.

Someone like me.

As we said our goodbyes, I lingered near the door, catching Roohi’s arm as she walked past.

“Roohi, can we talk?” I asked, my voice low.

She looked at me, her expression unreadable. “We’ve already talked, Vihan. There’s nothing more to say.”

And with that, she walked away, leaving me standing there, torn between anger and despair.

I wasn’t ready to give up. Not yet.

I needed to do something...

" Ron, I need to talk to you," I said.

" Then say it." Sujal and Raj were also with him.

" This guy is not good for her," I said.

" Why do you think so? Dad has known his family for years." Sujal asked.

" Sujal, your Dad knows his family, not him. He is not good for Roohi. I checked on him."

" Don't tell us what is good for her, we are more concerned about her than you. " Raj asked.

" Then stop her from going out with him. " I retorted.

" Who are you to tell us what to do? We are her family. " Sujal questioned.

" I am her best friend... And if you will not stop him I will." I said looking at them. Raj clenched his jaw and even Sujal looked annoyed.

" You both go inside and have dinner, I will take care of him. " Ron said and sent them away.

I watched Sujal and Raj’s retreating backs as Ron dismissed them, my fists still clenched at my sides. Ron turned back to me, his expression neutral but tinged with curiosity.

" Ron, please try and understand... He is not a good person. I don't know if you trust me or not, but she is my best friend, I can't let her go out with such a man. " I said and turned to go out.

"What’s wrong with him?" he asked, his tone cautious.

I exhaled sharply, forcing my voice to remain steady. "We have mutual friends, Ron. The guy has anger issues. He gets hyper over the smallest things, and worse, he’s physically abusive. He’s hurt people before, women included."

Ron’s eyes narrowed, and for a moment, he looked thoughtful. But then his lips quirked, a trace of skepticism in his voice. "This friend of yours, the one he supposedly hurt... is she a woman?"

My jaw tightened. "How does that even matter?"

"It might. Maybe she’s spreading this because he didn’t choose her," Ron suggested, his tone calm but probing.

I took a step forward, staring directly at him. "Even if that’s the case, can you take that chance with Roohi? You and I both know she deserves better."
