Vihan's POV

I had been restless the entire day. Something about Roohi’s sudden agreement to an arranged marriage didn’t sit right with me. She had always been headstrong and always made her own choices, and suddenly, she was letting her family dictate such a huge decision. It wasn’t like her.

My mom called me, asking if I was free for the day.

" Yes, mom. Why? " I asked.

" A friend of mine wants to come home to meet you. Her daughter is... " She was saying

Oh, please no! No more drama!

" No, Mom, not today. I am going to meet my friends. Mihir needs me at the moment. As it is, I am not ready to get married as of now. Bye, got to go." I said and disconnected the call.

The evening weighed heavy on my mind. By the evening, my resolve had crystallized—I needed to talk to Roohi. Whatever was going on, it wasn’t like her. I needed answers, clarity, or at the very least, a glimpse of her thoughts.

Our earlier argument still grated on me, each word a thorn that dug deeper the longer I sat idle. When I went to her office to talk, I found she'd already left for the day. But that wasn’t enough to stop me. If I couldn’t talk to her there, I’d find her elsewhere.

By the night, my resolve was set—I needed to talk to her. I went to talk to her, but she’d already gone home. That didn’t stop me—I needed to see her, to talk to her, to clear the air, to understand why she was rushing into something that felt so unlike her. Without thinking too much, I called her while driving toward her house. Her voice on the other end of the line was steady, giving away nothing.

" You are coming to meet me?"

" Yes, we need to talk. "

" But I already have some other plan. "

" Seriously? " I asked because I thought that she was avoiding me.

" Why? Do you think I can't have a plan of my own? " She asked.

" Roohi, I didn't say that; I meant to say that I should have asked you first as I am halfway to your home. Can you please change your plan? I need to get things clear. It is important." I explained.

"Well, I am sorry, you need to go back, I can't change my plan." Her words hit me like a warning bell, she was behaving differently.

"Where are you going?"

“I’m on my way to Khanna's hotel,” she said casually. “Viren bhai has thrown a party.”

If it was Viren’s party, the place would be teeming with people—acquaintances, friends, family, and strangers alike. Among those strangers might be someone with a glint in his eye, someone too interested in Roohi for my liking. The thought made my grip on the steering wheel tightened.

“That idiot Garv might be there,” I muttered to myself. Garv, with his insufferable grins and infuriating persistence, had been circling Roohi like a vulture lately. And then the anonymous gifts she’d been receiving, that person might also be there. I still hadn’t figured out who was behind them, but the mystery gnawed at me.

“Can I come with you?” I asked, my tone was deliberately casual.

“What? Why?” she asked, a trace of surprise in her voice.

“I’m bored,” I replied. “Please?”

“Why?”

“All three of you aren’t here with me. I’m missing all of you,” I said, throwing out a half-truth.

She chuckled softly, her tone light but dismissive. “Go on a date with some hot girl, Vihan. ”

“No,” I said firmly. “I want to go out with you.”

"What's wrong with you? You are behaving differently, since when did you start missing... All three of us? Have all the girls in the city got in a relationship with someone all of a sudden? All hot single girls vanished?? " She laughed.

I don't know what happened... But I don't want anyone.

" Roohi..."

“Sorry, Vihan,” she said. “I’m already going out with my brothers and both sisters-in-law.”

I pressed on, refusing to let the conversation drop. “Can’t I come? Please?”

“Ask Viren bhai,” she said, exasperation creeping into her voice. “I can’t explain bringing you there uninvited.”

“Which of the restaurants is hosting the party?” I asked.

“It’s in the bar,” she said, her tone curt before she ended the call.

A bar. Perfect. She might not invite me, but no one could stop me from being there. If someone thought they could take advantage of her in a crowded, dimly lit setting, they were sorely mistaken.

I arrived at the hotel dressed sharply, blending into the crowd effortlessly. The bar’s atmosphere was lively, filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and the hum of conversations. My eyes scanned the room until they landed on her.

Roohi stood near the corner of the room, surrounded by her brothers and sisters-in-law. She wore a deep red dress that hugged her figure gracefully, her hair cascading over her shoulders like a dark curtain. She laughed at something Ron said, the sound light and unguarded.

Oh, God!! She looked stunning. Too stunning. It was no wonder people were drawn to her. Everything about her commanded attention, but my gaze hardened when I noticed someone approaching her—a man I didn’t recognize.

He was tall, confident, and carried himself with an air of practiced charm. A family friend, maybe?

His walk had that overconfident swagger, his smile just a little too polished. He wasn’t just coming over to say hello; no, this guy had a mission. I could spot the telltale signs of a man about to flirt a mile away.

His casual greeting suggested familiarity, but the way his eyes lingered on her made my fists clench.
