Chapter 217
Billionaire’s Missing Darling
Before she could leave, Samuel came in.
Maddie stood still and looked at Samuel before looking at Amelia with a gloomy expression.
âYou heard everything!â Her tone was firm.
Samuel closed the door and pulled a chair to sit down. He looked up at Maddie. âOlivia is also my daughter. I donât want this to happen.â
Speaking of his daughter, Maddie didnât understand.
âOlivia is your biological daughter while Emma is just your adopted child. Why are you so indifferent to Olivia and dote on Emma instead?â
This didnât make sense.
Under normal circumstances, the relationship between father and daughter would not be too close because a distinction should be made between males and females.
Especially since Emma was even an adopted daughter, it made Maddie even more difficult to understand their relationship.
Samuelâs back stiffened. He glanced at Amelia and pretended to be calm. âBack then, Ameliaâs mental state was not good and she lost her mind. If it werenât for Emma, Amelia wouldnât be where she is today.
âEven if Emma isnât my biological daughter, sheâs still Ameliaâs benefactor. She was the one who healed Amelia with her love. Moreover, weâve been living together for 19 years. These feelings are real.â
Samuel was affectionate.
Amelia couldnât help but recall.
Maddie fell silent.
Seeing this, Samuel said even more affectionately, âIf it werenât for Emma, Amelia wouldnât be where she is today. She was the one who cured Amelia. If Olivia had a conscience and was filial to Amelia, she wouldnât be so ungrateful and hurt Emma, who was indebted to Amelia.â
That didnât sound right.
What Samuel said could move Amelia, but it could not confuse Maddie.
She was smart as a powerful woman in the business field.
She tapped her fingertips on the table and said, âSpeaking of gratitude, 11:48 the Taylor family should be Emmaâs benefactor. She was just a little girl from an orphanage. Itâs all thanks to the Taylor family that she was able to be adopted by the Taylor family and become Evervaleâs top socialite.â Maddie raised her eyebrows. âBesides, you were the one who lost Olivia back then. You should be the ones owing Olivia. How is it that she owes you?â
Maddieâs words were sharp and hit the nail on the head. âWhat era are we in now? Thereâs no such thing as children must be owing their parents. You guys had sex for your own pleasure, and having kids is just a derivative. I address you as my brotherâinâlaw out of respect and for the sake of my sister. But you werenât the one who was pregnant with Olivia. What right do you have to criticize Oliviaâs life?
âYou were the one who lost Olivia and caused Amelia to lose her mind. This is all your fault. You owe her. Even if Emma cured Amelia, it was still a favor to you. Why should Olivia repay the kindness for you?â âMaddie!â Amelia shouted to stop Madde. Her face turned red. âWhat nonsense are you talking about?â
Maddie looked at Amelia and tried her best to suppress her anger.
She took two deep breaths before calming down.
She rubbed her temples with a headache. She really didnât want to care about the Taylor family.
Even if Amelia was her biological sister, this kept happening, and she had run out of patience.
Maddie took out her phone with a solemn expression. âIâll tell Olivia everything.â
Samuel waved his hand. âTell her, lest her think that Iâm cruel and heartless as a father. I donât want to make things so tense, but what can I do? Can I just watch Emma suffer?
âIf Olivia has a conscience, she should take the initiative and give each other a way out. Sho should let Emma off. That way, everyone will be happy. How nice would that be?â
Maddie did not want to say a word to Samuel. She directly dialed Oliviaâs number.
Launa was eight hours behind Evervale.
It was just after two oâclock in the afternoon in Evervale, but it was already past ten in the evening in Launu.
11:49 T Colvin had pur sales a shower and were wearing a bathrobe. She held a woord en bey Hused and wiped Ivey wet hair.
The hair had grown a lot longer and reached her neck. It added a hint of gentleness and elegance to her appearance. She seemed less sharper and competent than she used to look when she had short hair.
Her phone rang. She picked it up and put it to her ear. âWhatâs up, Aunt Maddie?â
Her voice was slightly indifferent and a little lazy.
Maddieâs phone was on speaker, so Samuel and Amelia also heard Oliviaâs voice.
She sounded calm and relaxed which they had never heard before. She even sounded a bit willful like a spoiled little girl.
Maddie smiled. Her expression relaxed and her voice became gentle. âOlivia, what time is it in Launa?
Are you resting?â
âItâs 10:23 p.m. I was just about to rest.â Olivia subconsciously acted like a spoiled child. There was a hint of a smile in her sweet voice. âWhy are you calling. Aunt Maddie? Did you miss me?â
Amelia had been listening attentively to Maddieâs call, but when she heard Oliviaâs words, her expression suddenly froze and she was in a daze.
Was Olivia acting cute with Maddie?
Ameliaâs fingertips suddenly gathered together, and her wrist trembled slightly.
In a daze, she seemed to see a little girl wearing a warm white gown playing the violin seriously in the piano room.
Being disturbed by her sudden entrance, the little girl didnât get angry. Instead, she tilted her head and said in a soft and childish voice, âDid miss me, Mommy?â
Maddie glanced at Samuel and said in a serious tone, âOlivia, I have something important to tell you.â
Olivia held the phone in one hand and wiped her hair with the other. When she heard Maddieâs words, her expression did not change at all. Her attitude was still calm and casual.
âI see,â she replied. âWhat are Samuel and Amelia up to now?â
The question was asked in a confident tone.
11:49 There was no change in her tone.
She was neither angry nor sad as if she was talking about an outsider. When Samuel heard the way Olivia addressed him, he frowned and subconsciously wanted to reprimand her.
However, he glanced at Maddie and suppressed his urge to reprimand Olivia.
Maddie said in a low voice, âTheyâre going to send posts on Twitter and use public opinion to force you.
You need to be prepared.â
Olivia put the towel on the shelf and said nonchalantly, âI see.â
Maddie was stunned for a few seconds.
She did not expect Olivia to be so calm.
âArenât you angry?â
âAngry?â Olivia laughed. âTheyâre just irrelevant people. Theyâre not worth being angry about.â
âArenât you worried then? Those people on the Internet donât know the truth. They consider anything they see on the Internet as truth. Once they get incited, they will blindly follow. As a junior, youâre in a very unfavorable situation.â
Olivia sat on the bed and crossed her long legs. She said slowly, âDonât worry, Aunt Maddie. Other than those who I care about, no one in this world can hurt me.
âSamuel and Amelia⦠donât matter to me now.â
Those people had nothing to do with her anymore. They didnât matter to her at all. They would not cause any fluctuations in her emotions, nor did they have the power to hurt her.
All the hurt she had suffered was because she cared.
Because she cared about them, she could not bear to retaliate. She allowed herself to be beaten and scolded, retreating again and again.
They relied on her love to do whatever they wanted and hurt her wantonly, but they did not know that love would be exhausted one day.
Hearing Oliviaâs words, Maddie knew that she was confident and had long been prepared.
In that case, there was nothing to worry about.
âThatâs great.â Maddie was relieved and planned to hang up.
11:49 Billionair & Missing Darling Before she could press the button, Samuelâs gloomy and condescending voice sounded. âOlivia, as your father, Iâm offering you a chance. As long as youâre willing to forgive Emma and sign the letter of understanding, everything will be fine.â
âYouâre there too.â Olivia smiled, revealing her clean teeth. Her tone was leisurely. âWhat if I donât forgive you? What will you do?â
Samuel frowned at Oliviaâs casual attitude.
âDonât be so casual,â Samuel said gloomily. âDonât think that just because you inherited the Smith family and got the Lasker Award, you get to be strong enough to do whatever you want. Let me tell you, Iâm your father and youâre my child. Youâll always be inferior to me.
âI donât want to be so ruthless to moral blackmail you with Twitterâs trending topics, but you make me to do this. Iâll give you one last chance. Will you sign the letter of understanding or not?â
Olivia raised her eyelids. âTell me what you want to do first, then Iâll decide if I will sign it.â
Samuelâs expression was solemn. He raised his hand and snatched Ameliaâs phone. A cold glint flashed in his eyes. âOlivia, my patience has a limit. Youâd better not challenge me!
âDonât think that just because youâre my biological daughter, you can be fearless and think that I wonât attack you!â
At this point, Samuelâs tone was already filled with a chilling intent.
His expression was cruel.
âIâm asking you one last time, are you going to sign it or not?â
âNo!â
âOlivia!â Samuel gnashed his teeth in anger.
Amelia was a little frightened. She rushed up and took the phone away. âOlivia-â
She sobbed right after that.
âDonât be stubborn anymore. Public opinion will really crush you.â
Amelia could not help but shudder when she thought of those people who had been forced to commit suicide by public opinion. Her eyes turned red. âI beg you, reconcile with Emma. If this really blows up to Twitter, not only will your career be ruined, but you will also be forced to death.â
5.6 11:49 âAre you afraid that Iâll be forced to death?â Olivia narrowed her eyes. âThen can you not send posts on Twitter and not buy the trending topics?â
Amelia didnât say anything.
âHeh!â Olivia sneered and looked up.
Her originally teasing gaze instantly became sharp, making it impossible for anyone to look straight at her.
âDid you guys misunderstand something, or did my previous actions give you the wrong impression? It made you think that you could threaten me with just a few casual words, use the excuse that you are innocent as my parents, and shout out on Twitter to coerce me?â
