Chapter 130
Billionaire’s Missing Darling
Olivia did not want to talk with those people anymore. She came to the banquet to celebrate her grandfatherâs birthday, not to argue with them. She used to have expectations and affection for Samuel and Amelie, so she put up with all the ridicule and pain. But now, she was completely disappointed with her parents.
Otherwise, she wouldnât have estranged herself from them.
The opposite of love is not hatred, but indifference.
In the past, Olivia had resented Amelia because she had expectations of her and longed for the tenderness that she remembered seeing in her motherâs eyes. However, she had completely given up after being harmed over and over again.
She thought she probably shouldnât have been their daughter.
She could easily get many things in the world if she wanted to, but love was the exception.
Her mother just didnât love her.
No matter how outstanding, remarkable, hopeful, and tolerant she was, Amelia just did not love her.
The little fingers on her left hand suddenly trembled and her heart twitched in acute pain.
Olivia slowly lowered her eyes and gently placed her right hand on her left hand to hold her left pinky finger.
The unhurried movements seemed to carry a tremendous weight. It was as if she had decisively stripped away the longing that was engraved in her bones.
When she raised her hand again, she had regained her appearance of serene detachment.
Her left pinky finger trembled no more She turned around and prepared to leave.
When she had only taken two steps, she was stopped by a stern command from behind.
âStop right there!â The person who spoke was Ethan. His face was grim Billionaireâs Missing Darling and his gaze was cold.
Olivia turned around and looked at him indifferently, asking in a calm voice, âWhat do you want?â
Seeing that Olivia was so overbearing and showed no remorse at all, Ethan felt that she was literally a viper. âHow could there be such a vicious woman in this world?â
He felt disgusted that he once had an infatuation with her.
He thought, âNot only did this woman have someone sexually assault Emma, but she also constantly bullied and hurt Emma. She even threw wine on Emma at such an important occasion to embarrass her.â
Ethan felt a surge of anger rushing to his head. His eyes were filled with coldness. âRight. Youâre sophisticated and weâre uncivilized. I admit everything you said before. But if you want to prove yourself, why didâ you have to spill wine on Emmaâs dress and step on her to get to the top?â Emma lowered her eyes and clutched the hem of her dress as if she had suffered an unbearable blow. Her beautiful eyes were filled with tears.
She quivered and said, âOlivia, why⦠why do you do this to me?â
As she spoke, tears rolled down from her eyes. Her slender body swayed as if she was about to fall.
She bit her lower lip. Her eyes filled with despair and her voice was choked with confusion. âI know you hate me. You hate me for taking your place and taking away the love of your parents. But this is not my fault. Since you returned to our family, Iâve been giving in. I give all the good things to you first and think for you in everything. But not only do you not appreciate it, but you also keep picking on me. What exactly do you want?â
Emma was crying her heart out. If Ethan hadnât supported her, she would have fainted and fallen to the ground.
Everyone around Emma was taken aback after hearing what she had gone through. They did not expect her to have suffered so much.
With deep sorrow, Amelia held Emma in her arms and kept saying, âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry for making you suffer.â
Seeing this, the people around them felt sorry for Emma and started to denounce Olivia, thinking that Olivia had gone too far for being so mean to her sister.
One person said, âShe got lost when she was a kid and only found her parents after 18 years. Indeed, she had endured a lot of hardships, but what does this have to do with Emma? It is not Emma who lost her. How could she bully that poor girl?â
âThatâs right. All these years, itâs Emma who stays by Ameliaâs side, taking care of Amelia on her behalf. Speaking of which, she owes Emma.
Ethan supported Emma. His expression was cold as he looked at Olivia in a condescending manner.
âApologize, apologize to Emma now!â âApologize?â Olivia lowered her eyes. Her eyelashes fluttered slightly like butterflies that were about to fly away. Her expressionless eyes grew dim. Everyone was curious about what Olivia would do.
Despite the fact that she had given Emma a hard time, the onlookers didnât echo with Ethan and demanded her to apologize.
But an older person spoke up, âMiss Olivia, you bullied Miss Emma and spilled wine on her dress. Of course, you have to apologize.â
âI bullied her?â Olivia chuckled as if she had just heard a joke.
She walked up to Amelia without looking at Ethan and Emma. Staring straight at her mother, she asked, âDo you also think I bullied her?â Amelia was at a loss for words. Her mind went blank for a moment. She could not remember how Olivia had bullied Emma.
But Emmaâs heartwrenching crying pained Amelia. So Amelia was flustered and did not have time to think carefully. She glared at Olivia fiercely and rebuked her, âDonât think that you can bully Emma just because I gave birth to you. Let me tell you, I only acknowledge Emma as my daughter. Apologize to her now.â
âSo, you really want me to apologize,â Olivia muttered. Then, she suddenly put on a stern face.
An oppressive and overpowering chill swept over and landed on everyone in the room.
âIf I donât say anything and pursue the matter, youâll push your luck and think Iâm an easy meat.â She enunciated each word clearly, and her voice seemed to carry a boneâchilling coldness.
âDonât take my tolerance for granted. When I care about you, you can hurt me all you want. But if I donât care anymore, you mean nothing to me!â
Oliviaâs gaze was intimidating as she slowly scanned the crowd. In the end, her eyes rested on Emma.
âYou said I bullied you. Tell me, how did I bully you?
âThe fact is you keep plotting against me!â Olivia snapped up at Emma, âYou fainted at my welcome party, framed me for finding someone to sexually assault you, and colluded with the Taylor family to restrict my freedom. Is it because I didnât bring this up or pursue them, youâre going to pretend that nothing happened and think I am an easy meat?â
Oliviaâs stern confrontation shocked everyone.
Ethan was the first to react. He glared at Olivia. âWhat nonsense are you talking about? Itâs you who did all of this. Youâre jealous of Emma, so got someone to abuse her. If I hadnât arrived in time to save Emma, Iâm afraid she might have⦠she might haveâ¦â
Emma went along with it and plunged into his arms. It was as if she had suffered a huge grievance. Her body was shaking uncontrollably.
She was not afraid of Olivia at all. There was no concrete evidence to prove what had happened back then. The soâcalled evidence in Oliviaâs hands was just a video of her text message.
Those who knew the inside story might realize that she had framed Olivia, but those who did not know wouldnât be able to figure it out. Amelia was the only person who knew the truth. As long as she took Emmaâs side and testified against Olivia, Olivia would never be able to turn things around.
It was not a courtroom with a judge and lawyers to discern right from wrong.
âOlivia, you country bumpkin knows nothing about the rules of our class. There are things that donât require justification and no one will investigate the truth. I can destroy you simply by spreading rumors.
âBesides, rumors do not require facts or evidence. As long as everyone believes that youâve schemed against me, thatâll be the truth!â
A malicious intent flashed across Emmaâs eyes when she thought about that.
âOlivia, Iâm going to destroy you this time!â
